Well maintained, loved car. Very clean, no smoking. Goodyear all season tires one year old. Full synthetic oil changes every 5000 miles. Rear brakes recently replaced. The exterior overall is in good condition. There are a few scratches and minor dings from a couple years of on-street parking. A little bit of curb rash on the rims. The interior is very clean and in good condition. Minor discoloration of the leather on the driver's seat and arm rest. Pictures are included to accurately depict these minor issues. Don't let these minor issues dissuade you. I just want to be up front about everything that takes the car from perfect to good, which is all cosmetic and minor. The accident listed was a very minor rear-end accident at a stop light, under 5 mph. The front bumper was replaced due to cracking with no structural or mechanical issues. Acura recalls 2013-2014 ILX, ILX Hybrid over fire-prone headlamps
Wed, 09 Jul 2014The Acura ILX just can't seem to catch a break. The Japanese automaker recently decided that the ILX Hybrid would no longer be offered in the US for the 2015 model year. Now, a possibility for fires has also cropped up in the compact luxury sedan. Acura has announced a recall of 14,078 examples from the 2013 and 2014 model years because the headlights could overheat and ignite the car. The company also issued a stop-sale for examples still at dealers until they can be repaired.
The campaign covers ILX and ILX Hybrid models with halogen projector headlights from specific build dates. The problem is that the headlights aren't cooled sufficiently when the cars aren't moving. After several hours of sitting with them on, it's possible for the lights to build up so much heat that they melt and potentially cause a fire.
To Acura's knowledge, there was only one case of an ILX actually catching fire due to this problem, though. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration defect notice, a car was idling at a dealer for about two hours when the model went up in flames. The automaker brought the vehicle in for a detailed investigation to find what caused the blaze.
Cody Loveland's Corvette-powered NSX claimed by Pikes Peak
Tue, 25 Jun 2013Let there be no doubt - racing automobiles can be very dangerous. This unfortunate fact of life has been proven once again today by Cody Loveland, owner of LoveFab, who crashed his Corvette-powered tube-frame Acura NSX on the second turn of the Pikes Peak hill climb course, apparently after a rear upper control arm failed. Cody hit a wall of boulders at high speed, after which the racecar caught fire.
Cody was able to escape the blaze unhurt - minus some missing hair that was singed off in the fire - but the car appears to be a complete mess, as you can see from the image above. The LoveFab Motorsports team has vowed to do its very best to rebuilt the car in time for the competition, but we'd be awfully surprised (and impressed) if that burnt-up hulk were ready for racing with just a few days to rebuild.
We're happy to hear that Cody got away safely, and here's hoping the rest of the competitors get up the hill without incident, or, like Cody, are at least able to walk away uninjured if they don't.
