A rare, timeless classic design, the DB7 i6 is said to have the purest lines of all the DB7 models with significantly lower maintenance costs than the V12. This car has been garaged for the past 10 years. Every repair and service document since 2004 comes with the car. Only 269 1997 DB7 i6 Volantes were brought into the US, and only an estimated 879 i6 Volantes were produced worldwide. Enhancements and features: Classic Gray leather interior with black piping Alcantara headliner Burl wood GT interior door pulls Half wood wheel and shift knob Dealer installed starter button Flush mounted Quicksilver exhaust to provide a little more aural authority Factory option 18” Speedline type 108 alloy wheels, rare and highly desirable Aston Martin valve caps Six cylinder supercharged developing 335 HP base, a tad more with the BBR upgrade and Quicksilver exhaust Stainless mesh upper and lower front grille GT strake Tonneau cover (useless, except for show) Extra headlight pod and Speedline wheel BBR stage 2 supercharger upgrade and ECU remap, one of a handful of cars in the U.S. with this upgrade. The upgrade changes the shift points to make them smoother and adds a few horsepower, essentially changing the car to more satisfactory level and making it the way it should have come out of the factory Impeccably well maintained This is a beautiful car with excellent mechanicals. All hoses have recently been replaced, rad core replaced. As with most low production Aston Martin cars, this one comes with its own unique set of quirks. The check engine light comes on when there’s nothing wrong. Transmission memory doesn’t take at startup and car needs to be turned off and restarted (rare). The window motors and control modules need replacing. This is not a concours car, it’s a car that has been driven and cared for.

Race Recap: 2014 24 Hours of Le Mans defines 'endurance'

Mon, 16 Jun 2014

Commenting on the rush of events that rocked beginning and end of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Paul Truswell of Radio Le Mans said "the race is about the ability to endure, not just the ability of drivers to do what they do for a long time." The entire race machine, all the way down to the pit boards and radios, has to survive the stress and abuse of the entire day. This was the race to prove those words.
There were two Toyotas, two Porsches and three Audis, five of the seven led the race at some point, six of the seven ran in the top three. Toyota will be hugely disappointed that it didn't win when its car and drivers were so, so strong, but they gave Audi the kind of scare we haven't seen since the best of Peugeot's days, and Toyota did a better job of it even in the loss. Porsche blew away everyone's expectations, falling 3.5 hours short of a fairy tale ending that would have made Disney cry.
But Le Mans doesn't really do fairy tales. Well, not that fairy tale. Audi's Twitter handle during the event was #welcomechallenges. As usual, Le Mans answered for the entire field.

Get lost in Evo's sublime 2013 Car of the Year testing

Fri, 08 Nov 2013

Every year Evo stages its Car of the Year test, bringing the best performance cars in the world to one location for an epic shootout. This year the magazine pitted eight CotY finalists against each other on Route Napoleon in Southern France - Evo claims it's the "best road in the world" - and then proceeded to nitpick the smallest of faults on each car until the winner could be named. You see, this year's lineup of machines was just so good that only one car obviously wasn't CotY material from the get-go. Can you guess which one judging from the list below?
- Aston Martin V12 Vantage S
- Audi R8 V10 Plus

2013 Quail Motorsports Gathering wows with modern masterpieces

Sat, 17 Aug 2013

Pebble Beach is an outstanding event if you're interested in pre-war classics, but outside of the parking lots, it's a bit light on more modern stuff. The Quail, now in its eleventh year, leans far more towards the present day, and has become one of the must-attend events of the Monterey car week.
Like Pebble, though, it's a highly exclusive affair, with triple-digit ticket prices that usually sell out at the same rate as a Justin Bieber concert. If you're one of the lucky few to hold a pass, though, you'll be rubbing elbows with a who's who of the auto world. One of the highlights of this year's event was the appearance of one Michael Schumacher, who showed up alongside one of his Formula 1 cars. A retrospective was also held on Lamborghini's 50 years of production, as well as another celebration of Aston Martin's centennial. There was also a tribute to the late Martin Swig, one of the co-founders of the California Mille, who passed away last year.
The cars, not surprisingly, were epic. Lamborghini, Pagani, Spyker, Rolls-Royce, BMW, McLaren, Bugatti and Galpin Ford all showed new models to the public for the first time, while there were also appearances by Jim Glickenhaus and his Ferrari P4/5 and P4/5 Competizione, marking the first time the coach-built masterpiece and its racing offspring were shown together. Finally, the Petersen Museum showed off its wears, including the late Steve McQueen's gorgeous Jaguar XK-SS.
