Williston, Vermont, United States

2000 Audi TT
  • Near perfect condition in and out, mechanically and cosmetically
  • 5 speed, 1.8 liter turbo engine, 180 hp.
  • Front wheel drive -- no Quattro complications to break/fix
  • All options -- xenon headlights, leather, Bose premium sound with cd changer, heated leather seats, etc.
  • Owned by longtime Audi/VW nut. Purchased in Feb. 2003 as an Audi Assured vehicle with 15k -- so I'm 2nd owner
  • All mechanical work up to date, needs nothing. Everything works as it should.
  • No rust anywhere, super clean. No tears or wear-through in interior. Paint shiny and excellent, no dings. No accidents/crashes
  • Never-ever smoked in
  • Clean Vermont title
  • I'm fanatical about repairs and maintenance.  History in last 3 years includes:
  1. Timing belt/water pump (69k, 10/2010)
  2. Tie rod, strut mounts, (3/2011)
  3. Swaybar linkages (6/2012)
  4. Front coil spring (6/2013)
  5. Exhaust manifold & turbo gaskets (6/2013)
  6. Instrument cluster rebuild, including software -- no more faded display (6/2013)
  7. High-pressure side power steering line (9/2013)
  8. Engine has only ever seen synthetic oil, changed every 5k
  9. Bridgestone Potenza tires with approx 10k miles on them
  10. Brake pads/rotors (rear)
  11. Both oxygen sensors
  • For complete transparent disclosure, flaws/oddities:
  1. Driver's side seat height adjustment lever broke, now controlled by push knob under front of seat
  2. minor curb rash on 2-3 wheels (see pics)
  3. dashboard has phantom warning/chime that a brake light bulb is out (none are), has happened maybe once/month for the past 7 years
  • My kids are now too tall for the back seat, forcing reluctant sale ...
  • (updated with better photos 10-20-13 -- need a sunnier day or better fill-flash to capture the excellent condition of the car)

Audi TT Ultra Quattro Concept throws lightness at the problem

Thu, 25 Apr 2013

Audi is celebrating the 2013 Wörthersee Tour with a special concept version of the company's TT. The Audi TT Ultra Quattro concept tips the scales at just 2,449 pounds thanks to some extensive engineering work. The company pulled nearly 95 lbs from the car's body structure and used carbon-fiber reinforced plastics for many of its detachable body components. As a result, the concept weighs in at a full 220 pounds lighter than its production counterpart. Throw in a wicked turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 310 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque, and you get a machine with the power to weight ratio in the supercar realm. 0-60 comes up in 4.2 seconds and top speed is listed at 173 mph.
Inside, the TT Ultra Quattro features plenty of carbon fiber trim, and designers also fitted the seats from the R8 GT to save a little weight. The buckets use CFRP for the seat frames, saving nearly 50 pounds in the process. In a world where automakers seem blind to the negative effect of throwing more heft at a vehicle, we're in love with the Ultra Quattro concept. 2014 Audi A4 next car to go on big diet while adding features

Sun, 07 Apr 2013

The Audi A4 is expected to receive a major redesign over the next couple of years, and with the smaller A3 now gaining a sedan model, it is being reported that the A4 might be getting a little breathing room for a more advanced design and improved technology and features. According to AutoBild, this would include a drop of more than 200 pounds in curb weight, updated cabin tech and a wider variety of drivetrain options.
AutoBild states that Audi is looking to upgrade just about every detail - inside and out - when it comes to the 2014 Audi A4, and this includes a next-generation MMI system that uses two digital displays. Extensive use of magnesium, aluminum and plastics will help shave an estimated 220 pounds from the A4's curb weight, and in terms of engines, it sounds like the usual array of forced-induction, small-displacement gas and diesel engines will be on tap, but a bigger V6 TDI and a plug-in hybrid powertrain are also mentioned.

Le Mans champion Allan McNish retires from LMP1 racing

Tue, 17 Dec 2013

Having won the 24 Hours of Le Mans three times, the American Le Mans Series title another three times and, most recently, the FIA World Endurance Championship, Allan McNish doesn't have much left to prove. Which is why he's retiring, ending this stage of his 33-year driving career on a high note.
In a statement just released by McNish himself and his team at Audi, the Scotsman said "I've had a fantastically successful time with Audi and feel it's the right time to step back from Le Mans sports-prototype racing and to look at other opportunities."
Just what those other opportunities might be is another matter. He's raced in DTM, Formula One and the International Formula 3000 series, where he won two races in 1990. McNish, 44, is also part of the BBC Radio's F1 commentary team, serves as president of the Scottish Motor Racing Club and is often called upon by the FIA to act as a grand prix race steward. Audi says he'll continue to be part of the team, just not in the driver's seat. Given his success in endurance racing, he's surely got a wide variety of opportunities to pursue, and we're looking forward to seeing where he lands.
