2002 ALMS (American Le Mans Series) Commemorative Edition Audi TT Limited edition one of less than 500 of this Avus Silver pearl effect exterior with Brilliant Red interior. This car is in Excellent condition, with only 112k miles, with beautiful shiny paint, and very clean red leather interior (One thing I never stop getting compliments on every time I drive it around town.) This is definitely a collectors car and a one of a kind. I am upgrading to an R8 and have to sell to make room in the garage. This TT runs and drives excellent! Has a few very minor things that you would want to take care of, the hatch struts are worn out and will not keep the back hatch / trunk door open without putting new struts on. On the engine there is a super minor oil leak where the oil return line attaches to the oil pan (See Pic). This leak is so minor that it only leaves a few drops on the garage floor after sitting. Looks like it needs a new gasket that cost like $25 at most. I would fix it if I was keeping the car or had more time before getting my R8, but need to sell this car soon to make room. Does have a reconstructed title. Audi R8 V10 Plus vs. Renault Clio Cup racecar will make you go hmmm...
Fri, 18 Jul 2014Match up a hot hatch with a supercar of the same vintage, and we'll tell you who will win every time. It's easy, really, as the supercar invariably features a more advanced suspension, stickier tires and most importantly, more power. What if the hot hatch is race prepped, though?
In that particular case, all bets are off. A circuit-tuned suspension, a stripped-down cabin, an ultra-quick sequential transmission and the greatest equalizer of them all, slick tires, are all that's needed to turn the typical hot hatch into a proper dragon slayer.
Perhaps seeking to prove this, Evo has put together an interesting head-to-head between the Audi R8 V10 and a race-prepared Renault Clio Cup. Host Dickie Meaden takes us through each car, highlighting the bits and bobs on both sides which should make this a tight competition. And boy, is this one tight.
Audi TT Quattro Sport Concept takes the next-gen to the extreme
Tue, 04 Mar 2014There's little doubt that the new Audi TTS and its 310-horsepower, 2.0-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder will be very quick when released to the general public. As a means of reminding us that Audi can do much more with the little TT, though, the German manufacturer has presented this, the TT Quattro Sport Concept, alongside its litter of new sports cars.
Complete with a 420-horsepower, 2.0-liter, turbocharged engine - yes, it really puts out 210 horsepower per liter - the TT Quattro Sport can snap to 62 miles per hour in just 3.7 seconds. 331 pound-feet of torque is also on offer, meaning this one-off TT outguns the TTS by 110 horsepower and 51 pound-feet of torque.
An S-Tronic transmission shuffles the power about, while the car itself rides on a lowered and stiffened suspension. 20-inch alloys are featured with centrally locking, racing-style hubs. Those racy wheels are housed in wells that have had their arches stretched an additional 1.18 inches, which, along with the lowered suspension, contribute to the TT's aggressive looks.
Adam Carolla is world's the least helpful test drive co-pilot
Mon, 16 Jun 2014If you were going to test drive a new car, who would you want to take with you? Your spouse? A friend? Maybe an automotive journalist? Well take it from us: there's one of us riding shotgun just about every time we go to drive anything, and we're not all we're cracked up to be.
How about a celebrity comedian? Well, that largely depends on which comedian we're talking about here. Some - say, Jerry Seinfeld or Jay Leno, for example - might be more helpful than others, being more or less schooled in the finer points of the modern automobile. Adam Carolla might seem like he belongs on that list too, but in this latest video for a friends at Edmunds.com, the one-time host of The Car Show on Speed TV seems bent on being as comedically intrusive as possible. Which may be funny, but helpful? Not so much. See what we mean in the video below, and the next time you go to test drive a new car, you just might find the world's most popular podcast host climbing in with you.
