For 2013, the Audi TT is offered in both a coupe and roadster body style, both of which are built on Audi's improved aluminum space frame chassis, which consists of 69% aluminum, making it both lightweight and incredibly stiff. Audi's signature quattro all-wheel-drive system is the only drivetrain available across the lineup. In addition, Audi's S-Tronic 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission is the only available gearbox on the TT and the TTS.Both the TT and upscale TTS feature a healthy array of standard equipment, including an "Audi Concert" audio system, a driver information system and an automatic climate control system in the coupe.Optional 'xenon plus' headlamps are available with cornering technology and both the TT and TTS are available with Audi's S-line competition package, consisting of special design touches to the bumpers, air inlets and rear diffuser, special interior detailing, a rear wing, unique 18-inch wheels and a 10-mm lower ride height. Optional magnetic ride shocks can be switched between "normal" and "sport" modes and a sport button modifies steering boost and exhaust sound. Optional napa leather gains a new thermal resistance treatment that cuts down on seat temperature significantly when left in the sun. A high-performance model was introduced for 2012, called the RS. It features a 360-horsepower 5-cylinder engine mated to a 6-speed manual, the only transmission option. This combination is enough to scoot the TT to 60 mph in under 5 seconds. Audi's magnetic ride suspension, 19-inch alloy wheels, xenon HID headlamps and silk napa leather upholstery are all standard. The RS version of the TT represents the ultimate evolution of the car.

Audi kicks off A3 celebrity-fest marketing campaign with Dues

Wed, 19 Mar 2014

Audi is desperate to appeal to young people with its new 2015 A3 sedan. It's planning launch parties around the country to present the new model to these younger buyers, and its latest tactic is a series of videos starring celebrities the company considers trailblazers to further captivate youthful buyers.
The advertising campaign starts with a spot titled Dues starring comedian Ricky Gervais, chef David Chang, photo journalist Lynsey Addario, comedian Kristen Schaal, boxer Claressa Shields, artist collective Cyrcle, and church choir Voices of Destiny. It's being followed up with seven, minute-long online documentaries called Uncompromised Portraits about the folks featured in the new ad. Audi believes that they are all trailblazers who have forged their own way, and it's all supposed to fit with the A3's slogan of "Stay Uncompromised."
Dues will play during the NCAA March Madness tournament. Audi is also running two, 30-second commercials during the games to highlight the sedan's technology and two, 15-second ads to promote its Quattro all-wheel-drive system.

Ken Block and friends race light in silly-beautiful Castrol commercial

Wed, 28 May 2014

How does one make fast, loud, drifting cars better? Well, you can add more fast, loud, drifting cars or you can add lasers. Either or, really. In this case, Castrol did the right thing and added both, creating a highly stylized commercial for its Edge Titanium motor oil starring South African racer Adrian Zaugg, BMW factory driver Augusto Farfus, Audi DTM and Le Mans staple Mike Rockenfeller and some bloke named Ken Block.
Their cars? No surprise, but Block is in his Ford Fiesta GRC, while Zaugg samples a Lamborghini Aventador and Farfus and Rockenfeller drive along party lines, with a BMW M4 and an Audi R8, respectively. And those cars look good, too, thanks to the creative light and laser work on display.
Take a look below for the video from Castrol.

YouTube's Super Bowl commercial buzz list dominated by automakers [w/videos]

Thu, 31 Jan 2013

After Sunday's big game, YouTube will be the place to watch every commercial that you missed when you left your seat for an emergency guac refill or, as we say in Cleveland, took the Browns to the Super Bowl. That makes YouTube the nation's water cooler on Monday, and it's got some preliminary stats to share in the lead up to kickoff.
As you know, Super Bowl advertisers, particularly automakers, like to endlessly tease their big budget commercials in the weeks before the game, many times revealing them outright days in advance. Because of this, YouTube can tell us which commercials have been viewed the most so far, and their top five list is all automakers.
Kaley Cuoco appears to have been a good investment for Toyota, as her ad for the RAV4 has garnered the most YouTube views - six million and counting - among Super Bowl commercials so far. Second place goes to Mercedes-Benz, though not its actual Super Bowl commercial, but rather the teaser for it. You know, the one with Kate Upton and the car washing, which is up to 5.6 million views. Third place is Audi's Prom commercial (3.3M views), fourth goes to Volkswagen's slightly controversial Get In, Get Happy ad (3.3M views), and the fifth and final spot is bookended by the teaser video for Kaley Cuoco's commercial (3.2M views). You can watch all five in order below.
