White Slicktop Roundie Stainless Header, Ansa Tips, Yakima Rack on 2040-cars
Pittsford, Michigan, United States
VIN: 2581407
Before I begin I would encourage all serious buyers to contact me directly at: 517-425-0129. Although this is a 7 day auction I reserve the right to end early. You are looking at a 1972 BMW 2002 with the desirable round tail lights. Recently purchased, don't have a whole lot of history on the car but I believe its priced very fair and its a good opportunity to get into the collectable BMW market. I'll be painfully honest with the description and perhaps even a bit harsh. While bidding please bear in mind that this car cannot go to the next Concourse event , nor will the walls of your garage be laden with trophies from showing the car every weekend. However, this is the perfect car to take as it is, don't do a full-on, nut and bolt restoration, just drive it. Heck, teach your kids to drive a stick and don't be afraid to let them drive it to school. Take it for a spin and if it rains, so what? Throw the dogs in the back seat, roll the windows down and you'll still turn heads with this neat little '02. Good multi-purpose car, throw your bikes on the roof rack, don't worry about that next door ding......I think you get the idea. Description as follows:
Mechanical:
Interior:
Exterior: Once again, great little driver, not a candidate for restoration in my opinion due to existing rust/repair. Priced accordingly, lot of bang for the buck. Please take the time to review all pics, don't hesitate to call with any questions 517-425-0129. I also have contact with a reasonable shipping company and would be glad to assist. Vehicle offered by Rare Rides, a licensed Michigan dealer. TERMS: 25% NON-REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT DUE WITHIN 3 DAYS OF AUCTION CLOSE, BALANCE DUE WITHIN 7 DAYS OR VEHICLE PICKUP, WHICHEVER COMES FIRST. PREFERRED PAYMENT IS BANK TO BANK WIRE TRANSFER OR CERTIFIED BANK FUNDS. VEHICLE PURCHASED AS/IS, NO REFUNDS OR WARRANTIES IMPLIED.

BMW working with Dainese to put airbags in motorcycle suits [w/video]
Fri, 19 Jul 2013Addressing the safety concerns of its customers, BMW Motorrad is co-developing a rider suit with Dainese to feature something that's much more common in automobiles: airbags.
Starting with Dainese's D-air Protect System, which is made up of inflatable protectors that deploy in 15 milliseconds, the two companies will integrate the technology into a BMW Motorrad brand, one-piece racing suit, the DoubleR RaceAir. Later a different, street-oriented airbag system that can be retrofitted to bikes will be offered to Beemer riders.
The DoubleR RaceAir is expected to be presented at the EICMA motorcycle show in Milan in November, after all required crash testing has been completed.
BMW rethinks all-wheel-drive M cars
Fri, 04 Oct 2013BMW M hasn't been able to decide whether it wants to jump on the all-wheel-drive bandwagon or not (with the exceptions of the X5 M and the X6 M, which are based on AWD architecture). That might be changing though, since M's president Friedrich Nitschke recently realized that 70 to 80 percent of Mercedes-Benz E63 AMGs are ordered with all-wheel drive. Earlier this year, Nitschke said that there were no new AWD M models planned, so this comes as somewhat of a surprise.
"On our cars we are thinking of all-wheel drive, but it won't come before we get the successor of the M5 and M6," Nitschke said in a Motoring report. "That's the timing and it's not practical to react in the current life cycles."

BMW expects China to pass US as its top market in 2013
Thu, 11 Jul 2013When you combine two billion citizens, 100 cities with more than a million inhabitants and an economy that's as unrestrained as Jim Cramer on an Adderall binge, China's explosive auto industry growth shouldn't be a huge surprise. Audi already lists the communist country as its largest market, while Mercedes-Benz is expecting it to be there in the next few years. Now, according to a report from Automotive News, BMW is expecting the People's Republic to overtake the United States in sales by the end of 2013.
We already discovered the extent that BMW is going to in establishing a dedicated Chinese stronghold, when we explored BMW's Shanghai-based DesignWorks studio ahead of April's Shanghai Motor Show. And while we argued that DesignWorks Shanghai hasn't really borne fruit, it isn't due to a lack of sales.
BMW China has seen a 16-percent jump in year-over-year sales, lead by a 28-percent gain in 5 Series sales. Part of BMW's growth strategy comes from an ever-expanding dealership network. Remember those 100 cities we mentioned with over one million people? According to Karsten Engel, CEO of BMW's Chinese operations, those 100-million-plus city dwellers don't have access to a premium dealership.
