For sale is my 1982 BMW 320is 5 speed. This car was family owned since it was purchased new from BMW, it spent all of it's life in Texas. I bought it a few months ago, on here sight unseen without realizing that at 6ft 2in, i am just too tall to fit in it comfortably. The vehicle is in excellent condition inside out, it's been well maintained and garage kept. It's NEVER been in an accident. The car needs a battery, it ran fine 2 weeks ago when it was last started, now it wont hold a charge, and the battery tested dead The miles are mostly highway miles, the car was used to commute to and from work. Engine runs smooth, no hiccups or stutters and the transmission rows through all the gears flawlessly. A/C and heat work well. No leaks. Shifter bushing is worn making the shifting looser, a cheap fix. The clutch is crisp. Brake pads are brand new, along with some other parts. The body is in excellent shape, straight as an arrow, no dents. Strut towers and wheel wells are flawless. The car was professionally repainted at one point; the paint is glossy and in excellent shape. Hood has some dents in it, was temporarily repainted so it wouldn't rust. Solid body, no rust - there is a spot of surface rust on the undercarriage and under the taillight, easily taken care of. The small spot under the taillight was painted over/touched up to prevent any more rusting. The trunk is very clean, looks like it was rust treated at one point, you can see where I rubbed some of it off, so rust is nothing to worry about. Wheels are excellent, no dents and the tires have lots of life left. A/C needs some freon after 31 years. Original interior, incredible condition seats, drivers seat has a few tears, can be repaired with a leather repair kit. Rear seats are absolutely flawless. Drivers side carpet could use a cleaning, the rest of the carpet is immaculate. Dashboard has no cracks. All the gauges work along with the turn signals, wipers and wiper jets. The radio/cassette is a vintage Sony unit from the same era, works great. Comes with an extra muffler, extra carpets, brake pads, and a few panels as extras in the trunk (see picture) This is the "IS" model, meaning this is the sport model that came with the 3 spoke steering wheel, recaro bucket seats, the cross hatch alloy wheels, front & rear sway bars, and thicker torsion bars that are not found on the standard 320i. About 1,500 of these were produced. Feel free to ask any questions, the car is in superb shape and is an excellent example of this model. Thank you.

Porsche 911 Turbo and Nissan GT-R Nismo star in World's Greatest Drag Race 4
Fri, 26 Sep 2014We love Motor Trend's annual World's Greatest Drag Race video. Now back for its fourth appearance, the idea of lining some of the world's fastest cars up for a ten-wide, straight-line, full-throttle run is, well... it's pretty freaking badass.
The lineup this year boasts some impressively fast cars to be sure. The group of ten includes the following darlings: Alfa Romeo 4C, BMW i8, BMW M4, Chevrolet Camaro Z/28, Ford Fiesta ST, Jaguar F-Type R Coupe, Nissan GT-R Nismo, Porsche 911 Turbo S, Subaru WRX STI and, last but not least, the Volkswagen GTI. Give us any one of those for the weekend, and we're happy to take the keys.
It must be said though, that for a publication that draws as much water as Motor Trend does, there are some big cars that we might expect to be here instead. The Lamborghini Huracán or Ferrari 458 Speciale would have added some exotic flare to the list, and the omissions of the Chevy Corvette Stingray (for the second year in a row) and the Dodge Challenger Hellcat are real head-scratchers.
BMW looking to fix i3 acceleration problem uncovered by Consumer Reports
Fri, 10 Oct 2014The BMW i3 has been hailed in some quarters as the future of electric mobility, what with its innovative carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic body and commitment to sustainable materials wherever possible. The modernist little hatch is even available with a 650cc two-cylinder gas engine with 34 horsepower to act as a range-extender for those who want it. However, that optional engine might have a drawback - at least for the moment.
Consumer Reports brought the problem to light when one of its drivers was behind the wheel of an i3 using the range-extender. When the driver attempted to pass another vehicle on a rolling, two-lane road, the BMW suddenly had no power to accelerate - a scary situation. CR started examining the car and found something pretty shocking: After driving at a constant speed for a while without any regenerative braking in range-extended mode, acceleration to 60 miles per hour plummeted from about 9 seconds normally to a staggering 27 to 40 seconds in their testing.
A BMW spokesperson told CR that it knows about the problem and has a fix coming next spring that also works on current models. The upgrade includes a state of charge indicator, a warning about loss of power and uses the car's navigation to boost the battery before driving on rolling terrain. It is not clear if the severe power deficiency will also eventually result in a recall.
Mini JCW Paceman vs. BMW M135i in family faceoff
Mon, 15 Apr 2013Over the last year, we've had the chance to drive two of the most exciting hatchbacks in the BMW family - the BMW M135i and the Mini Paceman John Cooper Works - but Autocar has managed to get the two corporate cousins together for a head-to-head comparison. Just like our initial impressions of the Paceman JCW, Autocar has little to complain about this new 215-horsepower hatchback... until it begins to factor in the faster, better-mannered and similarly priced M135i.
Despite laying down an extra 100 hp and delivering a 0-60 time that is almost two seconds quicker, the M135i carries the same price tag of 29,535 pounds in the UK; US pricing for the Paceman starts at $36,200, while it still isn't even clear if the US will be getting the M135i. Even more surprising is the fact that the Paceman falls short of the M135i in regards to rear seat and cargo volume, and just barely squeaks out a win in the fuel economy department. Scroll down to watch the BMW versus Mini hot hatch battle.
