For sale is 1986 BMW 325E. I purchased this car recently from another member and decided with a 1 yr old daughter this car isn't an ideal second car for me. I think it would be great for a collector or someone who is interested in restoring it back to it's original condition. Instead of me writing a whole description I will say exactly what the previous owner (a few days ago said about the car):

1986 BMW E30 325E COUPE
UNMOLESTED AND ADULT OWNED

This auction is for my 1986 BMW 325e. It pains me to sell this car but it has been driven very little over the past decade and just taking up too much space in our garage. It was my first car and I just could not let it go after buying 4 new vehicles over the years. I was the second owner when I bought this car over 2 decades ago and it was very well maintained since that time. Only BMW parts and service. The original interior is immaculate and would be considered near mint if it were not for a cracked dash that actually showed up this past winter (broke my heart). The blue leatherette seats have been covered with the original BMW Seat Vests from the time they left the dealership so they are in terrific shape. The back seat is just as nice. I never allowed eating or smoking in my BMW so it does not have any stains or offensive odors. The exterior is starting to show its age with the usual paint chips and rust spots behind the front rear wheel wells and along the four jack points on the rocker panels. The Arctic Blue paint is very dull and really the only thing I would change on this car. If you know anything about the E30, you probably know that it is arguably the best car BMW ever made and runs like a dream. This one still runs like a dream and has never once left me walking (a real testament to an E30 holding its own for an owners lifetime). I added quite a few new parts this past spring and have listed them below. I have also listed a few things that I think the car needs, as well.

NEW PARTS RECENTLY REPLACED:
• 4 new Falken tires
• Front brake calipers
• Front brake lines
• Brake pads all around
• Brake Fluid
• BMW air flow meter
• Coolant hoses
• Bosch headlights
• Bosch Rotor
• Bosch distributer
• Bosch spark plugs
• Bosch ignition coil
• BMW ignition wires with rail
• Air filter
• Catalytic converter
• Conti timing belt
• Rear Bilstein shocks
• DuraLast battery
• BMW chrome window trim (front & back)

RECOMMENDED PARTS TO REPLACE:
• Front struts (I have new bilsteins and will give to the new owner)
• Power window switches (original switches tend to stick)
• Muffler (Current BMW OEM muffler is 6 years old)
• Flush coolant system (has not been flushed in 3 years)
-Ac does not blow cold (not sure if it needs freon or the compressor is bad)

THE CAR IS 27 YEARS OLD AND NOT NEW!

Please ask all questions before bidding and make sure you have funds in hand when the auction ends.  $500.00 non-refundable deposit is due at auction end and remainder in 3 days! DO NOT BID IF YOU DO NOT INTEND ON PURCHASING THE CAR!

BMW slapped with discrimination suit by EEOC

Thu, 13 Jun 2013

According to a report from CNNMoney, BMW has been hit with a lawsuit from the US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission after revised criminal background check policies resulted in the dismissal of 88 contractors, 70 of whom (that's about 80 percent) were black. A total of 645 contractors were required to submit to background checks at BMW's facility in Spartanburg, South Carolina after BMW switched contract companies at its plant.
Though the 88 persons who were not rehired by the new contractor all had criminal records, that may not necessarily be a legal way to screen applicants, as the EEOC counters: "BMW's policy has no time limit with regard to convictions. The policy is a blanket exclusion without any individualized assessment of the nature and gravity of the crimes, the ages of the convictions, or the nature of the claimants' respective positions."
BMW's actions were in violation of the Civic Rights Act of 1964, according to the EEOC, because they utilized "a criminal conviction policy that disproportionately screened out African-Americans." A recent bulletin offering guidance from the EEOC on the Civil Rights Act can be found here, but the EEOC's stance on the issue has been the same for years: "Since issuing its first written policy guidance in the 1980s regarding the use of arrest and conviction records in employment decisions, the EEOC has advised employers that under certain circumstances, their use of that information to deny employment opportunities could be at odds with Title VII."

Six 'shut up and take my money' cars

Tue, 11 Nov 2014

Any time you see this iconic moment in pop culture - Shut up and take my money! - posted in response to a new car reveal, rumor for an upcoming model or even lip-service to a vehicle that should exist, you can bet there's some intrinsic good in the idea. Though depending on the person offering up the cash, that good could take the form of extraordinary form, functionality, weight savings, power, handling, etc. You get the idea.
In fact, when I first proposed this list, I reached out to the Autoblog staff to help me brainstorm. Here are some of the ideas they offered up that I ultimately didn't use: Jaguar XE Coupe, Pagani Huayra Roadster, Mercedes-Benz S-Class "parade car" (cabriolet), Morgan 3-Wheeler with Ducati V-twin, Ford Transit Connectamino (pickup), Mercedes CLA63 AMG, Ford Fusion 5.0, BMW i8 Spyder, Lexus RC-F Shooting Brake, Volvo XC90 Polestar. Oh, and things we collectively wanted to stick Dodge's Hellcat in were almost as numerous as models that Fiat Chrysler Automotive currently makes (though none quite so compelling as the Grand Cherokee you see above.)
Ultimately though, while I used a couple of ideas from my colleagues, the list of cars I'd shell out for unquestionably is very personal. Though it isn't complete, what follows is a selection of cars whose very existence would prompt me - or the trust-fund-baby versions of me - to utter without hesitation: "Shut up and take my money."

BMW may keep next 1 Series out of the US

Tue, 07 May 2013

As BMW prepares to introduce the all-new 2 Series coupe and convertible, the 1 Series name definitely won't be going away. We know new sedan and hatchback models are in the works; including the GT shown above. According to Car and Driver, though, the future of the 1 Series nameplate in the US could be dependent on rival premium small cars like the Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class and Audi A3.
In an interview with C/D, BMW's North American head of product planning and strategy, Paul Ferraiolo, said that pricing might be the biggest deterrent to offering the third-gen 1 Series in the US. As he points out, BMW currently prices the 1 not too far from the 3 Series, but Mercedes-Benz and Audi will have their new small cars priced well below the $30,000 mark. BMW's Mini brand will also factor into the consideration since the 1 GT will share its underpinnings with the next-gen Cooper lineup.
