Dark Blue with Beige Cloth Interior Engine: M42 1.8L 4cyl. Miles: 153,740 Trans: 5 Speed Manual Car starts immediately, runs & drives. I have had the car for a year now, working on it as a project. I recently registered it for the road, however the engine needs more work. Compression test showed good results but it would take some time to dig into the motor to fix some sounds coming from the lower end. Time that I just don't have these days. It would be wise to repair the engine prior to driving the car on a regular basis. The issue has not been specifically diagnosed by my mechanic. My Mechanic did say it was a knocking sound from the lower end of the engine. With that said, I have no estimate as to just how reliable/unreliable the engine is at this time/in its current state. Overall though, the car looks good and clean. Half of it has been buffed with quality products. The passenger side needs the same treatment. The Good/The Great: 1. BRAND NEW Exhaust (resonator & muffler, w/ new brackets) 2. BRAND NEW drive belts 3. BRAND NEW Fuel Pump 4. BRAND NEW Fuel Filter 5. BRAND NEW Front Wheel bearings & dust caps 6. BRAND NEW Front 'IS" valence spoiler 7. BRAND NEW Black Convertible top (not installed - comes with the car) 8. BRAND NEW Spark Plugs 9. BRAND NEW Engine Temp. Sensor 10. Transmission shifts smoothly with no apparent issues 11. Interior is in phenomenal condition - Very rare CLOTH SEATS. The car is wired for heated seats but the seats in it now do have the elements. 12. Dash Board in amazing condition 13. NO VISIBLE RUST - Very Rare 14. 3/4 of the wheels are in nice condition. Spare wheel/tires included in sale. The Not so Great: 1. Suspension needs attention. May need a strut swapped out for new or used ones. One is squeaky in the front 2. Various black exterior trim pieces need to be replaced 3. two noticeable dents in the front fender and rear quarter panel. The rear dent seems like it would be very easy have pulled. Its barely noticeable now. 4. Radiator leaks a little bit of coolant 5. Misc. dings and knicks (usual wear for a car of this age.) 6. Previous owner removed the amp so the speakers need to be reconnected in a Stock manner 7. The engine - as mentioned above. 8. Convertible top rear window is missing - NEW TOP Included in sale - as mentioned above 9. Third brake light needs to be reattached. Wires also need to be spliced together. Any questions at all, please don't hesitate to ask. I am happy to discuss the car in more detail. Please make a request and we can arrange a conversation. Local pick up ONLY. BMW predicts 2 Series Active Tourer will have 75% conquest rate
Wed, 23 Jul 2014In the last few years, BMW has definitively proven that it wasn't a slave to its legacy. In the US, the 3 Series was generally associated with smooth, flat-six engines, but the Bavarian brand dropped a four-cylinder turbo into it. The company was also known for its sports sedans, and it went green with the i3 and i8. Now, rear-wheel drive is off the table as defining its vehicles, as well. With the imminent launch of the 2 Series Active Tourer, the Bavarian's models are going front drive and opening up themselves to a whole new group of customers, so the thinking goes.
"We are expecting the Active Tourer will have a conquest rate of around 75 percent," said Frank Niederlaender, a BMW product manger, to Automotive News Europe. If you're not hip to the lingo, that means three quarters of the hatchback's buyers would come from other brands - an impressive figure, if accurate.
When it hits the road, the 2 Series Active Tourer will be the first BMW-branded vehicle to use the company's UKL front-wheel drive platform, already on the current Mini Cooper. The roomy hatchback is aimed at young families looking for a car that is luxurious but can still tote around the tots. It launches in Europe in September to compete against similar models like the Mercedes-Benz B-Class, but the Bimmer isn't crossing the Atlantic to the US until early 2015, according to ANE.
2014 BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo [w/video]
Thu, 21 Mar 2013BMW Gets Much Closer To The GT Look And Feel It Seeks
The 2014 BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo is being launched to a pretty cynical automotive press brigade. You know it. We know it. Heck, even BMW knows it. We've just returned from driving it on the rather unforgiving and sometimes nasty roads of Sicily, and even before we got behind the wheel, many of our media colleagues were busying themselves doubting the 3 GT's very raison d'être. So, despite the always excellent Sicilian hospitality, the day's atmosphere was kind of fragile.
While the press in attendance seemed determined to nail every product expert to the wall for having been even tangentially associated with the larger 5 Series Gran Turismo, it seemed that BMW decided ahead of time to not introduce such a sensitive discussion topic. That strategy would do little to smooth things over as everyone started digging for dirt on BMW's so far clumsy Gran Turismo franchise.
2015 BMW X4
Tue, 27 May 2014BMW has been in the line-blurring business of late, with the original X5 "Sports Activity Vehicle" muddling the line between SUVs and sport sedans in 1999, the 5 Series Gran Turismo challenging what our definition of "Gran Turismo" means in 2009, and pretty, low-roofed four-doors like the 6 Series Gran Coupe and the fresh new 4 Series Gran Coupe broadening the meaning of the word "coupe."
In the midst of all of this, BMW blurred the lines around both the SUV and coupe genres with its big, heavy, and in many ways ridiculous X5-based "Sports Activity Coupe" (cue collective eye-roll), dubbed X6. Auto wags scoffed at its lack of utility, compromised outward visibility and added cost, but a more emotional public was apparently smitten enough by its aggressive looks to avail itself of some 250,000 of them worldwide in six model years on sale.
Enter the all-new 2015 X4 crossover - err, "Sports Activity Coupe" - which BMW hopes will perform as well in the compact category as the X6 has on the next rung up the ladder. Like the X6, the X4 is a tough sell on paper: it's more expensive and less practical than the X3 on which it's based; it's heavier, despite the loss of interior space; and it doesn't even hold as much stuff in the back as the 3 Series wagon. As with the X6, the X4 is essentially a high-riding style statement that, like proper coupes (the two-door kind), says to the world, "You fools can take your need for practicality and shove it. I just want to look good."
