The 1994 BMW Convertible is in good, but not mint condition. I have a 100% positive feedback rating and want to keep it that way, so I'll be as complete in my disclosure of the vehicle as possible. The reason the car is up for sale is the manual transmission. It was purchased as a birthday gift for my daughter and she's not comfortable with a stick shift and has no desire to learn - so I would certainly consider the possibility of a trade for a car with an automatic transmission.
- Cooling system flush and refill with BMW coolant
- Brake system inspection, fluid flush and refill with BMW fluid
- Clutch system fluid flush and refill with BMW fluid
- Oil and filter change with synthetic (all season) oil
- Replaced battery (OEM spec located in trunk @ $175.00 with warranty)
- Replaced front tires with Continental (all season) 225/50ZR16 radials (rears are like-new Goodyear Eagles - very little wear)
- Rims appear to be off a BMW M3
- Replaced front hood pneumatic shocks
- Replaced blower motor resistor (fan would only run on high - works perfectly now - including ice cold A/C)
- Removed convertible top fabric and replaced the rear window and stitched any marginal areas (absolutely leak free now)
- Convertible top will not retract or raise automatically (slow as molasses) - must be operated manually
- I have an estimate from a top specialist to completely rebuild the mechanism @ $1,500
- Driver's power seat back recline is inoperative (other adjustments operate normally)
- Driver's door panel (see photos) has a speaker grill that's loose
- I would recommend having a shop replace the door speakers and repair the panel

BMW offering Track Handling Package for 2 Series
Thu, 17 Apr 2014After getting a chance to drive the BMW M235i earlier this year, we mentioned our regret at not being able to sample the lighter and less powerful 228i Coupe. We'd like to have seen how close the latter could get to the former, noting that "there's a lot of room for upgrades with the $11,000 retail difference." BMW is closing that performance gap slightly, announcing that a Track Handling Package will join the options sheet for the 2015 228i Coupe.
The group bolts on Variable Sport Steering, Adaptive M Suspension and M Sport Brakes behind new 18-inch lightweight wheels wearing Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires. There's no change to the 240-horsepower four-cylinder, but a coupe so equipped should be able to do plenty more with the horses it has thanks to a faster steering rack, sharper handling due to additional sensors and a ten-millimeter drop in ride height, and larger brakes and discs.
BMW has used the New York Auto Show as a venue to introduce the new Track Handling Package, and it will roll onto showroom floors in July and pricing will be announced sometime between now and then. Takers can get it with both the six-speed manual and eight-speed Sport Automatic, see it in the high-res image gallery above, and read about it in the press release below.
BMW announces M235i xDrive, 7 Series Exclusive among summer upgrades
Tue, 13 May 2014Like any automaker worth its lug-nuts, BMW is constantly striving to improve its products. And so it has announced a series of upgrades for the summer - none of them revolutionary, but a couple of them notable.
For one, the Bavarian automaker has announced that is is offering xDrive traction on the M235i coupe, a model that has been available until now only in rear-drive configuration. The all-wheel drive version comes with the same 3.0-liter twin-turbo inline-six with 326 horsepower (320 in the US market) and eight-speed automatic transmission as the rear-drive version, but now channels that power to all four wheels for a 0-62 time quoted at 4.6 seconds - two little ticks quicker than the existing version. It's the first time that all-wheel drive is being offered on the 2 Series, and will also be fitted on the convertible - at least, that is, in Europe. We're waiting on confirmation of North American availability.
Among the other announcements is a special edition of BMW's flagship luxury sedan. The 7 Series Exclusive Edition upgrades with metallic paint, 19-inch V-spoke alloys, Nappa leather upholstery and a leather-trimmed instrument panel. Buyers will also be able to opt for the Merino fine grain leather and Alcantara roof lining from the BMW Individual catalog, and choose between any available engine or either wheelbase lengths.
BMW X4 hatches its fastback shape in Shanghai
Fri, 19 Apr 2013The day has finally come for BMW to pull the covers off its X4 Concept at the Shanghai Motor Show. The machine brings few surprises - we've already seen an official image gallery from the German automaker, so its exterior shape was well known - but at least now we get to see it with our own eyes, and with the lenses of our very own cameras.
You can clearly see the fastback roofline in our high-res image gallery above, along with the jacked-up stance that allows BMW to call this machine a Sports Activity Vehicle, which basically means "Crossover" to our friends in Munich. We've seen similar vehicle shapes before, most notably in the form of the BMW X6, but also as far back as the 1980s from the likes of AMC.
We fully expect the transition from concept to production to be pretty seamless, so what we see here is, for the most part, what we'll see on the showroom floor in 2014. Feel free to peruse the press release below, but first, be sure to browse through our live images from Shanghai and let us know what you think.
