I bought this car about a year ago as a project and it's about time to let it go to move on to something else. It's a lot of fun and 100% mechanical. I'll provide a list of what has been done to the car in the past year. Don't let the mileage scare you, there are no issues. No smoke, leaks etc. If you live in Maryland I'll have it inspected for you if you are a serious buyer.

HK sound.
5 speed
All wheel drive.
185k Miles

Aftermarket headlights with Sylvania zXe SilverStar bulbs. I hate the cheap aftermarket HID's and these are very bright, and very white.
Aftermarket LED taillights. These are the higher quality with built in circuit boards. NO Bulb out warnings.
New A & C pillar trim (these commonly fall apart on E46's) from EAS. Interior is 8/10, shows well with no rips, tears or holes.
New BMW OEM floormats. I know that's not a big deal but I thought I'd list.
Stainless Steel performance muffler/resonator delete. Brand unknown, a local exhaust shop had it from a car they removed it from. Nice, mellow sound without being overwhelmingly annoying.
Previous owner had a new BMW OEM clutch installed about 1k miles before I bought it.
Wheels are 18" staggered with Nitto Invo tires, 75% tread. They are BBS knockoffs, front left wheel has a small dent on the outer part of the rim but doesn't affect performance. Inset color matches the car rather well.
New waterpump, thermostat/housing, radiator, expansion tank, steel W/P pulley, hoses, Valve Cover gasket, spark plug boots, spark plugs done during S/C install.
Now for the FUN part. VF Engineering 6 PSI supercharger kit. Read here: http://vf-engineering.com/other-bmw/bmw-e46/ Installed about 5k miles ago.
VF States 330HP/275 Torque. The boost comes in nicely around 4000RPM and is a BLAST to drive. I have beaten stock E46 M3's, the AWD means no traction loss. I wouldn't recommend dumping the clutch from a dead stop however.
As you can see the S/C kit alone is $4500!!!
The exterior wasn't treated nearly as well as the interior but still shows about 7/10. No large noticeable dents, some slight scratches etc. Still looks great from 10 feet or so.
I wouldn't hesitate to drive this car across the country today. Drives straight and very comfortable. I have a lot more $$$ in this than I'm asking but this project is done (for me), time to move on to something else.

Serious buyers may call me at 410-463-1108 after 5PM EST with any other questions.

Thanks for your consideration!

BMW slapped with discrimination suit by EEOC

Thu, 13 Jun 2013

According to a report from CNNMoney, BMW has been hit with a lawsuit from the US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission after revised criminal background check policies resulted in the dismissal of 88 contractors, 70 of whom (that's about 80 percent) were black. A total of 645 contractors were required to submit to background checks at BMW's facility in Spartanburg, South Carolina after BMW switched contract companies at its plant.
Though the 88 persons who were not rehired by the new contractor all had criminal records, that may not necessarily be a legal way to screen applicants, as the EEOC counters: "BMW's policy has no time limit with regard to convictions. The policy is a blanket exclusion without any individualized assessment of the nature and gravity of the crimes, the ages of the convictions, or the nature of the claimants' respective positions."
BMW's actions were in violation of the Civic Rights Act of 1964, according to the EEOC, because they utilized "a criminal conviction policy that disproportionately screened out African-Americans." A recent bulletin offering guidance from the EEOC on the Civil Rights Act can be found here, but the EEOC's stance on the issue has been the same for years: "Since issuing its first written policy guidance in the 1980s regarding the use of arrest and conviction records in employment decisions, the EEOC has advised employers that under certain circumstances, their use of that information to deny employment opportunities could be at odds with Title VII."

BMW's Quandt family in hot water over Merkel campaign contributions

Sun, 20 Oct 2013

The mysterious and elusive Quandt family is in hot water again, nearly two years after its Nazi connections during World War II were exposed. The German family's patriarch, Herbert Quandt, nearly single-handedly saved BMW from being bought out by Daimler-Benz in 1959. Now, three living family members own nearly half of the German brand, and stand accused of buying votes with donations to the party of German Chancellor Angela Merkel, mere days ahead of a European Union vote that would cap vehicle emissions.
Merkel's conservative Christian Democratic Union accepted three donations, one from each shareholding member of the Quandt family.
Merkel's conservative Christian Democratic Union accepted three donations, one from each shareholding member of the Quandt family, totaling 690,000 euros ($935,000), on October 9. The CDU, for what it's worth, claim the donations weren't related to any political decisions and that the family have been donors for years. A Quandt family spokesperson, meanwhile, said that the family had been waiting for Germany's September 22 elections to pass before making a large contribution to the CDU.

BMW looking to save billions with cost cuts

Wed, 18 Jun 2014

BMW is planning a fairly extensive overhaul in a bid to recoup some its annual costs, with CEO Norbert Reithofer (pictured above) aiming to save three to four billion euro ($4 to $5.4 billion) per year to help keep the company's profit margins between eight and 10 percent, while also maintaining investments in production expansion and new tech. BMW's profit margins sat at 9.4 percent in 2013.
According to Automotive News Europe, Reithofer is none too pleased about costs at Mini and on the 1 Series, although neither AN nor its source story, from Germany's Manager Magazin, elaborate on what steps could be taken to improve losses on either project. That makes it hard to figure out just where the fat will be trimmed from.
What may happen, though, is that BMW attempts to trim 100 million euros ($135 million) from its German labor costs each year; a solution hinted at a few weeks ago by Germany newspaper Muenchner Merkur. While a dramatic cost reduction, 100 million euros still doesn't begin to even approach the savings envisioned by Reithofer.
