This vehicle was purchased for my son from Ebay for 1500.00.I had a well known foreign car mechanic shop do work to car ,including New Air Flow Meter $483.00,O2 Sensor $136.00,Fuel Pump $323.00,Used ECU $145.00,total parts where 1191.00,total bill $1600.00.Also new plug wires(100.00)plugs,1 new tire  New Battery.........The stereo in car is gone. The seats are twisted,New cords for seats are approx 20.00.The car runs and drives, but hesitates still(at take off).Sunroof and windows work.starts fine, however an ignition wire (Power on off for radio,,as there is none wires are capped off)lost its cap and grounded sucking battery down a few times before i discovered problem.I have 4 vehicles and 1 driver now.I need to sell this vehicle, and have priced it very fair for the money I have in it.I am relocating and do not want to take them all with me.I will answer any questions as honestly as possible. For a BMW enthusiast this car would be great project. It is drivable now,but needs a few tweeks. Also needs muffler.Seats are decent,no rips ect, there is wear on driver seat. All glass is good. The body on car is solid, the fuel door is missing the driver side front fender has dent ,the fog light is off car but i have it.Please look at pictures.I have all reciepts from all repair, and initial purchase. The underside of car is very good shape(excluding muffler). You can search internet for BMW seat issue with twists.I researched it a year ago.Spare is on regular rim.Not donut.

Why BMWs are cheaper than Hyundais in Korea

Sat, 18 May 2013

Bloomberg reports shifting tariff regulations have upended the traditional automotive pecking order in Korea. Thanks to cheaper import taxes, foreign brands have seen market share jump from 28 percent to 41 percent over the last two years. BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Audi have all capitalized on the shift, with domestics like Hyundai and Kia suffering at the hands of their German rivals.
Taxes on European imports have fallen from 8 percent in 2011 to just 3.2 percent today. Over the next few years, tariffs will all but be eliminated for most imports, and taxes on US-made vehicles are expected to fall to just 4 percent in 2014. By 2016, that number will be zero. Needless to say, Hyundai and Kia are concerned about the shift.
Hyundai has seen profit fall by 15 percent last quarter, and the company says it is on pace to see the slowest sales growth since 2007. The company's shares have fallen by 12 percent. In order to stem the losses, Hyundai has discounted its midsize sedans and started working on diesel engine options.

Playboy reveals its 2013 Cars of the Year

Thu, 20 Dec 2012

Vaunted men's magazine Playboy knows that its readers are nearly as interested in cars as they are in the female anatomy... sorry, we thought we could write that with a straight face. Anyway, the buff-book does occasionally fill some of its spreads with sexy metal, to accent all the rest of the sexiness.
To wit, the magazine has unveiled its feature on the 2013 Cars of the Year. Without giving us much in the way of criteria for the awards, nor a clear framing of the categories ("Responsible Ride" is a particularly challenging concept, especially when you consider that the Mazdaspeed3 was the winner), Playboy has nevertheless highlighted what we assume to be it's favorite 12 or 13 (depending on how you count) cars from the 2013 model year.
Headlining the class is the Porsche 911, which Playboy writers single out for having "remarkable electronic voodoo." BMW M5 is named "Slickest Sports Sedan" though the Cadillac ATS then follows on because "we couldn't resist giving the new Caddy a shout-out." The rest of the picks are pretty conventional (save, perhaps, the Honda Fit EV as "Ace Electric"), even if the categories and methodology are fairly wonky. Cruise through or gallery for a taste or check out the full list, here. The site is safe for work, and you can legitimately (this time) say that you were reading it for the articles.

BMW invests in carbon fiber for use beyond i and M models

Tue, 13 May 2014

The immense amount of resources BMW has poured into its i brand program hasn't stopped, and recent developments indicate it's likely to pay off for BMW and BMW buyers outside the i brand. The i8 has already sold out its first year run, the i3 racked up 10,000 orders before it even went on sale and is already the subject of public discussion about being stretched into an i5, and a new investment in carbon fiber production has the automaker talking about CFRP use in non-i and non-M models.
BMW and SGL Group got together to form SGL Automotive Carbon Fibers (ACF), and the joint venture produces all of the CFRP for the i3 and i8 on two production lines at its plant in Moses Lake, Washington. After already investing $100 million to increase capacity, BMW has announced that another $200 million will add four more production lines, tripling production from 3,000 tons per year to 9,000 tons. When the expansion is complete in 2015, BMW says the Moses Lake facility will be the world's largest carbon fiber plant.
That's a lot of weave and the long view is that it will find its way into core models, with BMW exec Dr. Klaus Draeger saying, "As part of an intelligent mix of materials, we will apply carbon also beyond our BMW i and BMW M models in the future," and be able to do so "at competitive costs and in large quantities."
