When it comes to finding a great sport sedan, the automotive market is like a massive haystack.  With this truth, it is very difficult to find a needle in the mass of look-alikes, wannabes, and distractions.  So, with so many options is it even worth finding the one real golden needle among all the strands of hay?  Of course!  Moreover, fortunately for you, your search through the stack has finally paid off in finding that needle!  Your new Carbon Black Metallic 2008 BMW 550i with Navigation, M Sport Package, Comfort Access System, Rear Sunshades, Active Steering, Active Cruise Control, Lane Departure Warning, Logic 7 Sound, IR camera, and Satellite Radio is truly a rare gem.  Its vast array of unique options set it apart from not only other brands on the road, but even from its other 550i brethren.  From its rare black headliner to its enviable active cruise control, this is just the car to separate you from other cars on the road and their drivers.  You will be a standout not just because of your beautiful car, but also because of how much you saved buying wholesale.  Let us see just how spectacular your new 550i is!

EXTERIOR: Your 550i looks great clothed in CARBON BLACK METALLIC paint.  At a quick glance, the color looks like a shimmering black, but with closer inspection, you can see gorgeous dark blue undertones.  Under the hood of your new BMW, you will find the 550i's claim to fame: a 4.8L DOHC V8 engine with 360 horsepower and 360 lb-ft of torque.  You will love the sound of the roaring engine with each press of the gas pedal.  Despite all that ability, your BMW still gets a remarkable 22 highway MPG!  As part of the M sport package, upgraded 19" M sport wheels are wrapped in Bridgestone Potenza tires (in excellent shape) look great on the car.

INTERIOR: The outside of your car is incredibly remarkable, but what about inside?  The interior is outfitted in clean black upholstery complemented by bamboo wood trim and rare black headliner.  The 20-way power sport front multi-contour bucket seats feel comfortable and and can be adjusted to fit you perfectly.  To ensure that everyone in the vehicle will be comfortable, there is tri-zone automatic climate control with auto air circulation and other great functions.  One of the nicest features of the vehicle is the BMW iDrive system with on-board computer.  With the built-in factory navigation system, you can easy get turn-by-turn directions to just about any destination.  Also housed in this unit are on-screen visual controls for the climate, car options, and entertainment.  The upgraded Logic 7 BMW stereo with graphic equalizer includes AM/FM/Satellite radio stereo with CD player and changer and MP3 capabilities sounds great through the ten speakers and two subwoofers.  The Lane Departure Warning system is activated with just the push of a button on your steering wheel.  As you drive, the car will monitor your driving and the steering wheel will vibrate to let you know if you begin to drift from your lane.  This is a great safety feature, especially on longer trips.  You will love utilizing the Comfort Access System for keyless entry and start.  The car will detect the key in your pocket or purse and allow you to enter the car and start it without ever taking out the key!

In addition, your BMW Night Vision provides a new dimension of optical perception when driving at night.  A thermal imaging camera detects human beings, animals, and objects in front of the car before they become visible to the human eye in the headlights.  The image generated by the system is transmitted to the central Control Display within the car presenting objects detected with increasing brightness as a function of the heat detected by the camera -- and therefore making human beings and animals particularly conspicuous.

The thermal imaging camera covers a range of up to 300 metres or almost 1,000 feet ahead of the car.  BMW Night Vision therefore offers the customer particular benefits when driving over land, down narrow lanes, through gateways leading into courtyards, and into dark underground garages, significantly enhancing driving safety at night.

2013 Nissan GT-R and 2013 Alpina B6 mix it up on track and street

Fri, 24 May 2013

Here we have Autocar making an unforeseen comparison: the Nissan GT-R against the Alpina B6 at Brands Hatch and on public roads. Steve Sutcliffe clobbers the circuit in the 3,828-pound, all-wheel-drive sports car, then sees how well the 4,114-pound, rear-wheel drive grand tourer does against it.
Sutcliffe says there are quite a few similarities between the two cars, but that's really only on the spec sheet. The Nissan's got two turbos attached to its 3.8-liter V6, 542 horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque. The Alpina's got two turbos attached to its 4.4-liter V8, 532 hp and 528 lb-ft. But one's brief is to be a monster on the track, the other on the boulevard, and if there's anything the video demonstrates, it's each car's focus.

2013 BMW M6 Coupe

The Act And The Exclamation
The 2013 BMW M6 is a rolling obscenity - one that begins with the capital letter "F." It is both the act and the exclamation, the curse and the encouragement. It courts no logic. It is all want and no need, and it is unbecoming of the BMW roundel. Whereas the brand's products once strove to unite man and machine in a duet of blissful performance, the M6 seems built solely to stand between the driver and the road. You are very clearly in its way every second you're behind the wheel, slowing it down and generally being the Monday morning to its two-day trance festival. It's clear this car is very fast, but it has no interest in making you fast in the way that the M3 or even the M5 are wont to do.
But somehow, all that doesn't stop the car from stoking every last lick of lust in your gut. A 560-horsepower twin-turbocharged V8 will do that for you.

Watch the trailer for Locke, a movie that takes place entirely in BMW's X5

Fri, 21 Feb 2014

It's no surprise that driving can be incredibly stressful. You're basically trapped in a metal box, and until fairly recently, your ability to communicate with the outside world beyond the toot of a horn or a rolled-down window was all but nonexistent. Locke, a new film starring actor Tom Hardy (best known for his role as Bane in the Batman movie Dark Knight Rises), capitalizes on that feeling of isolation and stress by setting the entire movie in a BMW X5.
Locke is written and directed by Steven Knight, author of Eastern Promises, and the trailer shows Hardy's character being put under increasingly intense emotional stress as he drives along in his Bimmer. We don't know much more than that, as the 90-second trailer really doesn't give away much.
The film premiered at last year's Venice Film Festival, and reviews are available that tell more about the story, but we don't believe in spoilers. It's poised to hit theaters in the UK on April 18 and the US on April 25. The trailer reminds us of a far more artistic take on Steven Spielberg's 1971 movie, Duel and has our interest piqued. Scroll down to watch the trailer, but consider yourself warned, there's a brief moment of profanity.
