1994 Bmw 740i Green Sedan 107k On Motor on 2040-cars
Collegedale, Tennessee, United States
1994 BMW 740I Green Sedan with 107k miles on the motor and 152k on the rest. Heated seats and leather. Car has TN rebuilt title. Motor was replaced at 45k miles due to bad engine which was common. I do have the paperwork from the Georgia dealership that replaced the motor along with some other service records. Car was bought from family member that bought car wrecked at local auction in 2012. Drove car 70 miles to work for about a year and then car sat for 6 months. Recently put in new battery and drove it for the first time last week. Valvoline full synthetic oil always used. This car is the easiest car to change the oil in, but it also takes 8 quarts of oil! Car needs: Front ground effect from wreck, rear bumper trim on right side along with a little realignment, sunroof control panel broke, could use a paint job, and maybe a front driver side caliper. Felt like it may be sticking when I drove it last week. Recent fixes, etc: Fuzion tires, crankshaft sensor, crankshaft pulley, mass air flow sensor, vehicle speed sensor, computer, front rotors, pads, and last week a $200 autocraft battery with 3 year warranty. $1200 put into car before winter. I will drive up to 50 miles from my location to meet seller and will provide extra pictures on request. Will be very upfront with any issues the car has. Will include YouTube link for video of car as well. Accept paypal, cash, money order.
Update: Forgot to mention on the right rear under the tail light there is some rust from where the paint has come off, but has not gone anywhere else. Easily fixable when time to paint. |

The Homer to contest 24 Hours of LeMons
Thu, 27 Jun 2013It's finally happened. A 24 Hours of LeMons team has built the definitive interpretation of The Homer from The Simpsons for competition in an upcoming race. As you may recollect, The Homer is the fictional car designed by Homer Simpson for his brother's car company. Designed with a separate compartment for screaming children and other Homer-centric goodies, the animated machine bankrupted its parent company and put Homer's brother out of a job. Now we get to watch it race other crap cans as it tackles Southern California's Buttonwillow Raceway on June 29. Scott Chamberlain, Kris Linquist, Reid Conti, Ben Reilly and Mike Yepes will helm the machine, and Jeff Herman serves as the team's creative director.
The racer is the latest incarnation of a well-abused BMW 3 Series. The team campaigned the same E30 under the "Prickstine" banner as a Chrysler Imperial tribute and "Porcubimmer," the latter being a riff on the ever-popular joke about the difference between porcupines and BMW models. Never gets old. You can check out a video of the finished Homer below, and be sure to like the team on Facebook to see updates from the race. Now, about that Canyonero...
BMW working on 'FAST' CUV to slot between X1 and 2 Series
Thu, 10 Jul 2014Our spy shooters have caught a new FAST BMW testing that's rumored to hit the market in late 2015. Sadly, the word fast in that last sentence isn't describing the car's performance; instead it's an acronym that stands for Family Active Sports Tourer. Talk about a case of false advertising.
Despite it's speedy name, the FAST doesn't look ready to set any Nürburgring lap records. It rides on BMW's modular, front-wheel drive UKL platform that underpins the current generation Mini Cooper, upcoming 2 Series Active Tourer and next X1. According to our spies, its design is supposed to blend the looks of a wagon and a CUV on the outside with a large, useful interior. Conceivably, it could be offered with the hybrid system from the 2 Series, as well.
The new prototype definitely shares the styling of its front-wheel-drive BMW siblings. Up to the A-pillar, it looks pretty similar to what we know about the future X1. But the FAST has a more arched profile and lower ride height compared to the crossover's chunkier, more conventional design.
BMW puts a sheep in wolf's clothing with 2 Series Active Tourer M Sport
Thu, 27 Mar 2014BMW is charting new territory with the 2 Series. No, not the two-door model - that's just the kind of rear-drive coupe for which the brand is known. But the Active Tourer (which only shares its series designation with the coupe) is a front-drive tall hatchback/MPV category buster, and that's not exactly what comes to mind when you think of Bimmers. As such, the 2 Series Active Tourer is bound to turn off some of the brand's faithful, but this latest M Sport kit could at least ease the pain somewhat.
The sport package for the Active Tourer packs all the usual suspects: a more aggressive aero kit, retuned suspension, blacked-out grille, 17- or 18-inch alloys and an interior with sports seats trimmed in blue-stitched Alcantara. Top all that off with an Estoril Blue paint job and you've got a compact family hauler that might look the part, and maybe handle a bit tighter, yet it naturally stops short of the full M treatment (or even an M Performance spec like you'd find in the M235i coupe). All of which is probably just as well, because that might be the only thing BMW purists would object to more than the existence of a front-drive BMW MPV in the first place.
