1988 Bmw M5 on 2040-cars
Gum Spring, Virginia, United States
Selling my ‘88 BMW M5. This is a rust free survivor that is a great driver with lower miles. This one has the Tan/Natur
interior. Car fires right up with no hesitation and drives extremely tight - I own a few vehicles and do my best to
work this one into the rotation - usually driving it 3-4 times a week (I have a small commute) when the weather
permits. The S38 I-6 doesn’t miss a beat even 30+ years later. With the high heat temps we had this summer, the
car was great at staying cool - no temperature spikes. The 5-speed shifts nice with no grinding.
Paint is in nice condition for the age. There are chips to be noted but overall shows very well for the age. Has
original BMW glass all around. No cracks. Windows are tinted (previous owner did this and I haven’t had the
chance to remove - to each their own).
Original bumpers are fully intact with no modifications to the shocks. Car is always ready to be shown and be
driven.

BMW 4 Series production coupe caught on commercial shoot
Fri, 22 Mar 2013Despite filming at 2:00 AM and at an undisclosed location, BMW minders filming a commercial for the fast-approaching 4 Series coupe were unable to ward off the long lenses of spy photographers. The result, as you can see here, is our first-ever look at the production version of BMW's new coupe, completely uncovered.
The night shots may be a little bit grainy, but the fast-moving 4 Series still looks pretty good with its camo closeted, matching the svelte lines of the concept car we saw in Detroit this winter. Expect that the 4 coupe will come to market with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder in 428i trim, and a turbocharged 3.0-liter six-cylinder in 435i spec.
Take your time looking through our gallery of movie-star 4 Series photographs, and tell us what you think about the uncovered Bimmer, in comments.
BMW M5 turns 30, celebrates sideways
Sun, 13 Apr 2014BMW has a secret, and it's not telling. The brand's M Power blog is celebrating the 30th anniversary of the M5 and is taking a look back at previous models of its Autobahn-storming sedan, but it says that it will end "with a surprise." The celebration kicks off with a short video showing the latest M5 making some smoky donuts.
The original M5 debuted in 1985 and was the company's most expensive model at the time. Still, it packed a 3.5-liter six-cylinder generating a claimed 282 horsepower (286 PS), which was rather potent in its day. The company touted it as the world's fastest production four-door sports sedan at the time.
BMW won't reveal the surprise until it has chronicled all five generations of the M5, but it wouldn't be shocking to see an anniversary edition model appear sometime later this year. Scroll down to check out the video of the muscle sedan celebrating its birthday the only way it knows how.
2015 BMW X6 keeps it weird
Thu, 02 Oct 2014Say what you will about the BMW X6 - odd and ugly as it may be, it's actually been sort of successful for the German automaker. BMW has now sold some 250,000 examples of the X6 since its launch, and the company's fastback-crossover-coupe-whatever-thing gets a host of meaningful updates for the 2015 model year while not straying from its original mission.
Aside from its revised styling, most noticeably set apart by its larger, X5-inspired headlamps, the biggest update for the US-spec X6 is the addition of a rear-wheel-drive model, the sDrive35i. This trim joins the all-wheel-drive xDrive35i and xDrive50i, and since you should all be capable of decoding BMW's weird naming structure by now, you know this means the X6 will be offered with a choice of 3.0-liter turbocharged six-cylinder and twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 engines. Fuel economy figures have not been released yet, but BMW says the new powertrains are more efficient than before, mated exclusively to an eight-speed automatic transmission regardless of cylinder count.
Look for the updated X6 to hit US showrooms this fall, following its debut this week in Paris. Expect pricing to be revealed closer to the model's on-sale date. Have a look below for all of the details.
