Up for sale is my 2002 BMW M5 Sedan, deciding to sell this beauty after my daily driver 530i was involved in a crash and I don't want to put that many miles on such a nice car every day.

Exterior: Imola Red II
Interior: Caramel Full Leather interior
MK3 Navigation system with 2009 Maps/Updated firmware
M Audio System
Heated Seats
Black Powder coated wheels
All power seats
CD Changer in trunk
Comes with Owners Manual/Documents

I purchased the car in August, intending to be my weekend car until as I stated earlier, my daily driver 530 was involved in an accident, forcing me to drive this car every day.
She needed about $1500 in maintenance done when I purchased the car, including:
- New AC Fan
- New AC Pressure switch
- Thermostat replaced/Coolant flushed
- Rearview mirror replaced
- New front tires, rotors and pads
- Tire balance
- Oil Changes (last one done 1000 miles ago)

Car overall is in great condition for its age and miles. Some usual wear is still there as is expected on a 10 year old car. (some chips on front end) All original paintwork, nothing replaced. Nothing damaged or cut on the interior, no stains.
This car is ready to drive anywhere, new rotors/pads/tires upfront. all fluids good, NO LEAKS! Clutch pulls great
The only two things that would need to be done to this car is as follows:
- Digital Display on the cluster has some pixels out
- Rear tires will need to be replaced in about 5k

Car is for sale locally, I reserve the right to end the auction early. Any questions please ask. You will not be disappointed in this rare M car.

BMW reacquires original factory as classic center

Thu, 27 Feb 2014

BMW was barely two years old when it started manufacturing airplane engines in a factory on Moosacher Strasse in Munich. Two years after that, it sold the factory to Knorr-Bremse AG, a leading manufacturer of brakes for trains and commercial vehicles, and BMW moved into a new facility on Lerchenauer Strasse. There it expanded into the industrial giant we know today, building engines for cars, trucks, motorcycles, boats and planes. It's taken the better part of a century to get that original factory back, but that's exactly what BMW has done, reacquiring the expanded facility from Knorr-Bremse this month.
The factory on Moonsacher Strasse will now serve as the headquarters for BMW Group Classic, the division that handles archives and historical vehicles for BMW, Mini and Rolls-Royce. From there, just a stone's throw from corporate headquarters and its main plant (as well as BMW Welt and the BMW Museum), the classic division's operations will include a restoration workshop, vintage parts store, the company's archives, administration as well as a place to hold events. In addition, there will be an exhibition space for historical vehicles from the company's considerable collection.
At the heart of the new/old campus is the gatehouse, which is a protected heritage site and will serve as a gateway into the company's history. Read the full details in the press release below.

Alpina bringing new B4 Bi-Turbo Cabrio to Geneva

Mon, 24 Feb 2014

Interested in picking up a new BMW 4 Series with a turbo six? You've got options: you can get the 435i with 300 horsepower or spring for the M4 with 425 hp. But if it's the convertible model you want, we're afraid you'll be limited to the latter as the M division can't help you (at least not for the time being). But that's where Alpina comes in.
The aftermarket tuner closely associated with BMW offers the B4 Bi-Turbo (at least in Europe) with that same 3.0-liter twin-turbo inline-six massaged up to 410 horsepower that starts to pose a threat to the M4. What's more is that the Alpina's 442 pound-feet of torque eclipses the M4's 406 lb-ft, to say nothing of the 435i's 300.
Best of all, Alpina just confirmed via Facebook that it'll offer the B4 in convertible form, bringing the resulting BMW Alpina B4 Bi-Turbo Cabrio to the Geneva Motor Show. We'd expect the weight penalty to knock it slightly off the coupe's quoted 4.1-second 0-60 time, but not by much. If only BMW were to bring this one Stateside like it does with the B7 sedan.

BMW, Ferrari, VW cars use tungsten mined by terrorists

Thu, 08 Aug 2013

Bloomberg Markets is reporting that BMW, Volkswagen and Ferrari have been using tungsten ore sourced from Columbia's FARC rebel terrorists. The extensive story focuses on Columbia's illegal mining trade and calls into question the provenance of the rare ore that is used not only in crankshaft parts production, but is also found in the world's computing and telecommunications industry for use in screens.
The ore is mined by the FARC (Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia, or Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia - People's Army), and exported to Pennsylvania, where it is refined. The refined ore is then sent over to Austria, where a company called Plansee turns it into a finished product. Now, it's important to note that we aren't talking about the world's supply of tungsten here. In 2012, Plansee's American refinery purchased 93.2 metric tons of tungsten, valued at $1.8 million. That's peanuts, with the entire Colombian tungsten mining industry producing just one percent of the world's supplies.
That doesn't make indirectly supporting FARC any more acceptable, though. BMW, VW and Ferrari are all committed to not accepting mineral supplies from the Democratic Republic of Congo, which is also in the grips of a guerrilla insurrection funded, in part, by illegal mining. The same commitment would figure to extend to Colombian mining, but as BMW points out, it's difficult for a multi-national manufacturer to know where every item in its supply chain comes from. A company spokesperson says as much, telling Bloomberg, "These few grams out of the billions of tons of raw materials passing through the BMW supply chain are of no practical relevance."
