I bought this car when I was working in NC for a while, but now that I am back in the NYC metro area, I really can't justify keeping two cars - though it has definitely been fun. One of the great things about the fact that it has a hard top is that it makes it possible to drive year-round.

I bought it in the fall of 2011 from a dealer in Virginia. The soft top was brand new at that point and is in excellent shape. I have also installed a brand new battery. I didn't add many miles to the car myself, so no service history during my ownership. I recently had it checked out at a BMW garage though (please see the photo of the report), and as you can see everything is checked in the green box on that report with the exception of 2 things:

1. There is a minor noise as you turn the steering wheel, which BMW said is a coil inside the steering column which is rubbing. No effect on steering they said, and not worth fixing for the minor inconvenience that it is.

2. There are minor surface scratches around the car - consistent with the mileage, with the exception of two deeper scratches shown in the two pictures towards the end - right before the picture of the owners manual and the tool for taking off the hard top.

There is an Alpine CD/ Radio/ Amp that is Sirius-ready, bluetooth-ready, and will also attach to an iPod (you can see the cable for that in the pictures on the passenger side). The make and model is Alpine CD9885.

The Buy it Now price has been set at almost $3000 below the Kelly Blue Book Trade in Value of $14,435. KBB Retail is $16,670 - so this is priced to sell.

BMW expects China to pass US as its top market in 2013

When you combine two billion citizens, 100 cities with more than a million inhabitants and an economy that's as unrestrained as Jim Cramer on an Adderall binge, China's explosive auto industry growth shouldn't be a huge surprise. Audi already lists the communist country as its largest market, while Mercedes-Benz is expecting it to be there in the next few years. Now, according to a report from Automotive News, BMW is expecting the People's Republic to overtake the United States in sales by the end of 2013.
We already discovered the extent that BMW is going to in establishing a dedicated Chinese stronghold, when we explored BMW's Shanghai-based DesignWorks studio ahead of April's Shanghai Motor Show. And while we argued that DesignWorks Shanghai hasn't really borne fruit, it isn't due to a lack of sales.
BMW China has seen a 16-percent jump in year-over-year sales, lead by a 28-percent gain in 5 Series sales. Part of BMW's growth strategy comes from an ever-expanding dealership network. Remember those 100 cities we mentioned with over one million people? According to Karsten Engel, CEO of BMW's Chinese operations, those 100-million-plus city dwellers don't have access to a premium dealership.

History of BMW touring cars looks splendid in Adrenalin trailer

More high-quality documentaries about the history of motorsports are always welcome. When thinking about racing, we generally focus on moving forward to go a little faster or shave a tenth of a second off a lap. There's not much time to look backward. It's too bad, because there are so many fantastic stories from the sport's history. Thankfully, an upcoming doc is taking on the challenge of telling some of these tales, and it looks like a movie not to miss, especially for BMW fans.
Adrenalin - The BMW Touring Car Story mixes high-quality, vintage footage with new interviews from many of the drivers of these machines to craft what looks like a fantastic experience. Covering the period from the '60s to the modern DTM era, just the trailer shows racing from the 2002, 3.0 CSL and of course the E30 chassis M3 of the '80s. You also get to hear from legends behind the wheel like Hans-Joachim Stuck, Johnny Cecotto and Joachim Winkelhock telling their stories.
Adrenalin comes out in November on DVD, Blu-Ray and on-demand. Check out its trailer above for a taste at what it's aiming for. The documentary definitely looks like one to watch.

BMW X4 hatches its fastback shape in Shanghai

The day has finally come for BMW to pull the covers off its X4 Concept at the Shanghai Motor Show. The machine brings few surprises - we've already seen an official image gallery from the German automaker, so its exterior shape was well known - but at least now we get to see it with our own eyes, and with the lenses of our very own cameras.
You can clearly see the fastback roofline in our high-res image gallery above, along with the jacked-up stance that allows BMW to call this machine a Sports Activity Vehicle, which basically means "Crossover" to our friends in Munich. We've seen similar vehicle shapes before, most notably in the form of the BMW X6, but also as far back as the 1980s from the likes of AMC.
We fully expect the transition from concept to production to be pretty seamless, so what we see here is, for the most part, what we'll see on the showroom floor in 2014.
