One of only 823 produced!
1995 Bentley Turbo R
Introduced at Geneva in 1985, the Turbo R continued the modern 'Blower Bentley' theme, but with the added
refinement of suspension better suited to the car's increased performance. Outwardly the R differed from the
preceding Mulsanne Turbo by virtue of its cast-alloy wheels shod with low-profile Pirelli tires, while inside there
was a revised fascia with rev-counter included amongst the comprehensive instrumentation. In a break with
Rolls-Royce tradition, power figures were made public, revealing that the engine produced a 320bhp and a staggering
475lb/ft of torque. Few cars were - or are - better suited to fast long-distance touring.
A "New" Turbo R model was introduced in 1995. Changes included Zytek fuel injection and numerous very subtle
modifications and modernizations to the appearance. Only 1366 were produced in long and short wheelbase body
styles.
Finished in Sherwood Green with parchment leather interior, piped green, this nicely optioned, one local Los
Angeles area owner car presents beautifully and is a true delight to drive. Used sparingly, as a weekend or dinner
car, the odometer shows a Carfax certified 62,000 miles from new, but it was perfectly maintained and stored
meticulously, as can be seen in the condition. The car is in xquisite condition. Paint is excellent throughout with
no scratches or dings; there is no evidence of accident damage or repair, as seen in the Carfax report. The
brightwork is as-new, chrome wheels are scuff-free and shod with good tires with plenty of tread remaining.
The interior is also in truly excellent condition with no sign of wear to the seat and carpet surfaces. The car
features the original stereo and a trunk mounted CD Changer and front and rear mounted telephones.
Mechanically the car is as excellent as it looks. It drives absolutely perfectly with good response and power from
the freshly serviced engine and automatic gearbox. It really does drive like new. Having driven many of these cars,
this ranks among the very best examples I have ever experienced. To ready the car for sale, a local marque expert
has gone through it from bumper to bumper, addressing the ABS brakes, suspension and steering, which all work
perfectly. All electrical systems work perfectly, including cold AC.
The car is accompanied with books, keys, service records, and a clean, clear title.

VW makes $23K on every Porsche sold, more than Bentley or Lamborghini

Fri, 14 Mar 2014

It's a good time to be in the luxury car business. In Volkswagen Group's financial report for the 2013 fiscal year, it is revealed that that Porsche enjoyed an operating margin of 18 percent. That means the Stuttgart brand made on average about $23,200 per car sold, according to BusinessWeek. Bentley wasn't far behind, and Audi (which was combined with Lamborghini) posted a 10.1 percent margin. This compares to only around 2.9 percent for the Volkswagen brand.
"Luxury brands are on fire," said Dave Sullivan, an industry analyst at AutoPacific. He said that the average profit margin is between six and eight percent. Brands like Porsche and Bentley have the benefit of competing in rarefied markets. Buyers looking at one their vehicles have fewer models to shop against and don't care as much about price. They can also charge more for options, which further boosts income, according to BusinessWeek.
In a way, we should be more impressed by the continued success from Audi. Its models generally have direct competitors in every segment from the other premium automakers. Plus, their buyers aren't the captains of industry who are shopping for a Bentley. Still, the Four Rings is leading rivals in sales so far this year.

Bentley bringing Flying Spur V8, upgraded Continental GT Speed to Geneva

Tue, 25 Feb 2014

Until the new Falcon sport-ute comes along, Bentley is still a brand that revolves around two model lines: the Mulsanne, which is available essentially in one form, and the Continental family, which is available in many. The Flying B marque has traditionally offered the V8 version in two specifications and the W12 in three, and packaged them into three different bodystyles. With the Geneva Motor Show fast approaching, Bentley is rolling out two more.
First up is the Flying Spur which, despite having dropped the Continental from its name, is still based on the same. Bentley opted to skip the base W12 version when it introduced the new Flying Spur at last year's Geneva show, going straight for the more powerful version that would otherwise wear the Speed moniker. But now it's bringing a V8 version to the Swiss auto expo.
In addition to the W12, the Flying Spur will now be offered with Bentley's 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8. For the time being at least, Crewe is offering it in the base, 500-horsepower spec, and not with the more potent 521-hp from the Continental GT V8 S, but we're still looking at a 0-60 time of 4.9 seconds and a top speed of 183 mph. And that's pretty fast for a four-door sedan, no matter which way you cut it. Power is channeled once again to all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission, riding on an air suspension. There's a Mulliner Driving Specification package to make it even more derirable, the reduced weight in the nose ought to make it handle better, and with cylinder deactivation, promises to deliver much better fuel economy.

Bentley reserves 99 Continental GT3-Rs for North America at $337k apiece

Tue, 12 Aug 2014

Whether they're powered by V8 or W12 engines, the Bentley Continental GT just keeps getting faster and faster. The new Continental GT Speed, for example, is the fastest road-going Bentley ever made, capable of reaching 206 miles per hour. And the Continental GT3-R is the quickest-accelerating Bentley yet, capable of hitting 60 in just 3.6 seconds.
In other words, if you want to get your hands on one, you'll need to act fast. Bentley is only making 300 examples of the GT3-R, but while it is said to have already sold out the entire production run, it has been kind enough to keep 99 examples on the side just for the North American market.
The road-going embodiment of the Continental GT3 racer, the GT3-R packs a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 tuned up to 572 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque. That makes it 72 hp and 29 lb-ft stronger than the base Continental GT V8, or 43 hp and 14 lb-ft more muscular than the GT V8 S, about on par with the W12 model but 54 hp and 89 lb-ft shy of the latest GT Speed. But thanks to its lighter weight (inherent in the eight-cylinder model and stripped of a further 220 pounds in the GT3-R), it trounces them all in the sprint to 60.
