DESCRIPTION AND OTHER INFORMATION

1994 Special Built Type 55 Bugatti
  Hand Built Replica

For over 60 years I have been selling both new and Pre-owned Rolls Royces, Bentleys and other legendary motorcars from this same location. I have the honor of offering this one of a kind motorcar. This hand crafted masterpiece started out as a 1/16th scale model but ended up a 1/1 scale moving work of art. The builder was a Bugatti enthusiast/historian and he took extensive measurements and pictures of two original Bugatti numbers 55215 and 55211. It took close to 10 years to build as a majority of it was built by hand including the steel chassis, wood bulkhead, side panels, braces and body panels. Molds were made for the bi directional fiberglass fenders which were in keeping of the sweeping contour flow of the Bugatti fender design. Other types of fiberglass were used on other body panels depending on the strength need. All of the woodwork was hand made and he cut down the tree that made the steering wheel. The engine is a Ford 4 cylinder, 2000c.c. with automatic transmission. There are certain features that had to be added to make it street legal like seat belts, front & rear directional signals and license plate mounts. For his own pleasure he mounted an AM/FM radio under the driver’s seat for his long road trips. There are many photographs of the construction process that are included along with service manuals. Adhering to the strict regulations and requirements of the State of Illinois this motorcar was given a new VIN by the Secretary of State of Illinois, SOS 301 977 ILL. In my 60 years in the motoring business I have bought and sold many rare motorcars and this particular one I rate as one of the most stimulating. Just imagine while driving around in this moving work of art, the dedication of 10 years to fulfill a dream.

Bugatti Veyron hybrid successor rumors surface anew

Sat, 12 Jul 2014

If you had told us when the Bugatti Veyron debuted nine years ago that its successor would be a hybrid, we would have responded that you were out to lunch. In fact, we didn't quite believe it two years ago when the rumor first surfaced. But that was all before Porsche, McLaren and Ferrari proved that hybrids could not only be quick, but entertaining drives, as well. And when we say "quick," we mean Nürburgring-conqueringly, 0-60 in under three seconds quick. Today, the idea of a hybrid hypercar doesn't seem far-fetched at all. And so we bring you new reports that the next Veyron - whether it carries the same name or not - will pack an electric assist.
This according to Reuters, which notes that Bugatti's old-is-new-again CEO Wolfgang Dürheimer is keen on hybrid propulsion as evidence that the Alsatian marque is likely to pursue such a powertrain for the Veyron's replacement. The system wouldn't help curb the Veyron's portly weight, of course, but it would likely help cut down its prodigious fuel consumption. The current car, by the way, would run dry after 12 minutes at its 250+ mph top speed (by which point the special Michelin tires would have melted anyway). More importantly - and more likely - the hybrid assist will make the new car even punchier at low revs.
Of course, even assuming Reuters is correct, there's no telling to what internal-combustion engine the electric motor in the next Veyron will be paired with. However, considering the massive sums of cash Volkswagen spent on developing the unique 6.0-liter quad-turbo W-16, we'd bet it'll use some form of the same - just with an extra jolt of electric power thrown in for good measure.

Special Edition Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse sells for $2.5 million

Wed, 22 Aug 2012

Speculative investors should have held off on purchasing Facebook stock. Instead, they would have been wiser pooling resources for the Special Edition Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse. The one-off supercar, with an asking price of $2.5 million, was shown at "The Quail: A Motorsports Gathering" at Pebble Beach over the weekend... and it was sold to an unnamed buyer before the ink on its seven-digit sticker had dried.
While a standard Vitesse will set someone back about $2.2 million, the Special Edition's $300,000 premium bought a host of cosmetic enhancements (the 1,200-horsepower quad-turbo W16 remains untouched) including a paint job specially prepared as a tribute to the 1928 Type 37A. The top half of the aluminum body is painted in Bianco while the lower half is New Light Blue. Inside the two-place cabin is custom-tailored Cognac leather with contrasting New Light Blue stitching, blue accents in the door handles and map pockets. Pictures don't do it justice.
Before you question a cosmetic upgrade costing more than the average new home, there are a few things to take into consideration. First, Bugatti has had no trouble selling more than 300 Veyrons to date, and as far as we can tell there has been zero depreciation on the secondary market for special one-off models. Second, there are less than 80 build slots left before production stops on what will eventually be considered one of the most extraordinary supercars of its era (and the Vitesse is a the top of the model range). Lastly, consider the interesting backstory about this particular white and blue vehicle.

Bugatti looking into hybrid tech for next-gen Veyron?

Wed, 27 Jun 2012

Fast. Powerful. Opulent. There are any number of descriptors one could use to describe the Bugatti Veyron. But along with them is "heavy" - including heavy on fuel consumption. That's just the way it goes when you're dealing with a sixteen-cylinder, quad-turbo beast of a supercar. But that could change, if the latest output from the rumormill proves accurate.
According to a report from Auto Express, Bugatti is keen to improve its image in the eyes of a tree-hugging world, so it is looking at ways to make the successor to the Veyron more fuel efficient. One way would be to make the car lighter, something that shouldn't be all that difficult considering that the current model weighs in at over 4,000 pounds. One such method of trimming the fat reportedly revolves around carbon-fiber wheels, something that's been done before but far from widely adopted.
At the other end of the spectrum, Bugatti is also reportedly evaluating the prospect of hybrid propulsion - something that would not reduce weight but could help fuel consumption figures while keeping the power up. If the Molsheim automaker were to go that route, we'd expect something closer to what Ferrari is working on for the Enzo successor than an upmarket Toyota Prius.
