Here's a 1952 Buick Special with 40805 original miles. I'm listing this for a friend because he has more cars than garage space and this one needs to go. He has quite a pile of receipts for work that has been done on the car over the years. The engine was freshened up back in 2006 .020 over pistons, standard rod and main bearings, that receipt alone came to a little over $3000. Trans was also pulled and went through, too. Interior has had the seats, door panels and new carpet done. The original headliner is still in the car and is in very good condition but does have some stains where it comes down on the front door pillar. Exterior paint was redone with base clear and is a little darker than the original green. the dash and interior trim looks to be all original. All the glass is good except the left rear door glass which does have a nice BB gun hole from some nice kid.Tires were replaced with Radials back in 1998 and are half worn. The chrome on the car is its worst area, most all of it that is potmetal will need redone. The front bumper isn't too bad but has scratches, the rear bumper has been rechromed so that part  is good. I had the car up on the lift at work to check the undercarraige and can say it is very clean and rust free. The brakes have been completely gone through too the only thing I saw while under the car that will need attention is the left rear axel seal does have a small leak . The car runs and drives very nice and will make a great car for this summers car shows. I took 48 pictures of this car so if you want to see them all just let me know. Also, if you want to talk to the owner I can get you his phone #, just ask.

The car is listed locally, so we reserve the right to end the auction early. The car is being sold as is condition. There is no warranty.A non-refundable $500.00 deposit is due 48 hours after the auction ends, with the balance due 7 days after auction ends. Buyer arranges and pays for shipping. The car can be stored inside until shipping arrangements are made.

What's in a trademark? Sometimes, the next iconic car name

Thu, 07 Aug 2014

The United States Patent and Trademark Office is a treasure trove for auto enthusiasts, especially those who double as conspiracy theorists.
Why has Toyota applied to trademark "Supra," the name of one of its legendary sports cars, even though it hasn't sold one in the United States in 16 years? Why would General Motors continue to register "Chevelle" long after one of the most famous American muscle cars hit the end of the road? And what could Chrysler possibly do with the rights to "313," the area code for Detroit?

eBay Find Of The Day: 1946 Tucker Torpedo Prototype II hides a secret Riviera

Thu, 10 Jul 2014

The Tucker Torpedo is one of the great what-if stories of automotive history. Preston Tucker hoped to revolutionize the industry with a car unlike any other on the road at the time. However, due to a variety of problems, he only managed build 51 vehicles before closing shop. Over time, they have become highly sought-after; In 2012, one sold for $2.65 million at auction.
That brings us to this Tucker "replica" that you see above because it might be one of the ugliest monstrosities ever put together. However, we might extend some leniency to the creator, as the vehicle isn't actually trying to replicate the classic look of the 1948 Tucker Torpedo. Instead, it is attempting to reproduce an earlier prototype from 1946 that actually features that weird, trident nose. According to the seller, his uncle built the car as a labor of love and supposedly used actual plans from Tucker as inspiration.
Underneath all of the crazy changes is a 1971 Buick Riviera powered by a 455-cubic-inch (7.5-liter) Buick V8. Some of the replica's odder modifications include the front fenders that turn with the wheels and the fin running down the back. All three headlights work, but the one in the middle is only for the high beams. Oddly, the small hinged sections on the roof are meant to open to avoid hitting your head when getting in or out. Maybe the seller's uncle was a very tall guy?

2014 Buick LaCrosse to sticker at $34,060*

Tue, 18 Jun 2013

Buick first showed the facelifted 2014 LaCrosse at this year's New York Auto Show, and General Motors' luxury-ish arm has now confirmed that pricing for the updated sedan will start at $34,060 (*including $925 for destination), a increase of $1,505 over the 2013 model.
Buyers will be treated to an updated appearance, both inside and out. On the outside, tweaks were made to the LaCrosse's front and rear fascias, and new wheels are on offer (though the ones seen on the car pictured above seem to have been simply pulled from the 2011 Regal Turbo). Inside, there's a much cleaner center stack layout, complete with a standard eight-inch reconfigurable touchscreen IntelliLink interface. Buick is also offering a new Ultra Luxury interior package ($2,495), featuring Tamo Ash wood throughout the cabin, black synthetic suede on the headliner and leather seats in a new sangria color. Standalone options include different wheels, Bose audio, rear seat entertainment, navigation and a sunroof.
The 2014 LaCrosse's base powertrain is the trusty 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine with eAssist, which is capable of achieving up to 36 miles per gallon on the highway. But for folks wanting more power, a 304-horsepower, 3.6-liter V6 is available as a no-cost option, available with either front- or all-wheel drive.
