2003 Buick Park Avenue Ultra Sedan 4-door 3.8l on 2040-cars
Barnstable, Massachusetts, United States
Bought this Buick for my Dad two years ago. He wintered in FLA and the car was garaged. He drove it around Cape Cod one summer and passed away in April this year. Since then we have put 100 miles on it and it has showed us we just don't need to keep an extra car. Dad was not a smoker (do not know about the previous owners) and he kept this clean. No dents that I know of and no mechanical problems. I put a new battery in it this spring (yes it sat all winter and was dead) and had my service center replace the valve cover gaskets and another in the fuel system. Runs great and if you drive just a little conservative it gets 20 MPG. If Miss Daisy had lived until 2003, Hoag would have been "carrying her to the Sto" in this car. It has two presets for two drivers. Hit one or the other and seat and mirrors adjust to your settings. You have to read the book, my brother set these for Dad. I will deliver anywhere with 100 miles of Barnstable, Mass 02630 (Cape Cod). After that you are on your own but I will aid if you have it shipped (I still drive it 100 miles for them to ship for you). PLEASE REMEMBER: There is no warrantee for this car, it has 129650 miles on it already. My mechanic suggested that taken care of these motors go into the 200,000's. |

The importance of Angel Eyes, Ventiports and four round taillights
Sun, 01 Sep 2013Just the other day, we told you about how Lincoln isn't really a luxury brand, according to Ford's head design man, J Mays. His argument was that Lincoln lacked the unique DNA to differentiate it from the rest of the market, although the arrival of the MKZ is beginning to change that. Now, we have this video from Autoline Detroit, where Jim Hall, an analyst for 2953 Analytics who was quoted in yesterday's Lincoln story, explains the influence of certain styling cues and how they impact the brands.
Using BMW (Angel Eyes) and Buick (Ventiports) as examples for small, simple touches that serve to distinguish the brand's vehicles on the road, Hall then points out how changing trademark styling features, as Chevrolet has done on the new Corvette Stingray, can hurt the vehicle's public perception. Take a look at the full video below for an interesting dive into what these styling features mean to their individual brands.
GM throttles back Chevy Malibu, Buick LaCrosse production over swollen inventories
Wed, 06 Feb 2013As inventory of the Chevrolet Malibu and Buick LaCrosse continues to pile up, General Motors will be idling its Fairfax Assembly Plant for two weeks, according to Automotive News. This move comes about a month after the plant was shut down for three weeks in late December and early January for the same reason. As of January 31, the GM had a 94-day supply of Malibu stock while the LaCrosse was a little worse with a 117-day supply.
Just last week, GM announced that it would be investing $600 million in upgrading this plant, but it's unclear what future plans the company has in store for Fairfax considering slow sales of both the plant's models. We do expect a refreshed and more luxurious LaCrosse shortly and an early design update for the Malibu to be announced at some point this year, although we have had no official word as to when either will happen.
Buick Riviera Concept debuts in China
Fri, 19 Apr 2013It's nighttime in China, and Buick has just concluded an evening event the day before the first - and only - press day of the Shanghai Motor Show. The star of this evening's party was the Buick Riviera concept vehicle, a plug-in electric hybrid coupe that the automaker says gives a glimpse at its future design direction, not to mention resurrecting some nomenclature from the brand's history that includes a similarly named concept from 2007.
The shape of the Riviera is said to be inspired by water. While the traditional Buick "waterfall" grille is present, the front end gains a more aggressive note thanks to what appear to be vertical air inlets below each headlight.
As for the concept's drivetrain, Buick says it uses General Motors' new dual-mode wireless plug-in hybrid electric vehicle propulsion system, or W-PHEV for short. The keyword there is 'wireless,' as the Riviera can charge its onboard battery packs with a traditional cable or wirelessly via a "sensory recharge panel" underneath the car.
