Very Rare Buick Diesel Park Avenue.  GM only put the 4.3 V6 Diesel in the Front Wheel Drive Park Avenue's one year - 1985.  Unlike the early 350 V8s  that had issues with the head bolts the V6 is actually a very good engine when serviced properly as evidenced by the high but orginal miles of this unit.  The top end was redone , injection pump serviced, and transmission rebuilt in the last 30,000 miles. It starts right up and runs great. Transmission shifts are tight.  If your state has inspection it will need new front brakes and some work to the emergency brake cables. Interior is in very good condtion. Body is in fair condition - take note of surface rust starting at the door edges and slight damage on left front fender. The car is sold as-is.  I ran the RWD version in an Oldsmobile Cutlass years ago and have been very happy with this engine - plus it gets great MPG. Rated around 26 city 42 Highway in this model.  I picked this one up about a year ago and planned to start driving it when my daughter got her license and took over my other car - but in the meantime I found this engine in an Olds 98 which is the only reason I am selling this one.  (I more of an Oldsmobile guy). Low Reserve as I could keep it as a parts car but I would rather see it go to someone who is going to keep it on the road.  Buyer is responsible for any shipping costs.  Email any questions you might have and thanks for looking.

GM issues four new recalls, 2.4 million cars affected

Tue, 20 May 2014

General Motors has announced another set of recalls, covering some 2.42 million cars in the United States. For those keeping track, The General has now recalled over 15 million cars worldwide this year due to various issues.
Here's the breakdown for this most recent set of recalls:
1,339,355 - Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Traverse, GMC Acadia models from the 2009 to 2014 model years; Saturn Outlook models from the 2009 to 2010 model years

Buick Envision CUV launches in China, is America next?

Fri, 29 Aug 2014

Buick is launching its new midsize Envision crossover in China at the Chengdu Motor Show, where it will slot between the subcompact Encore and larger Enclave. While it might be hard to muster too much excitement about a Chinese-market crossover, don't completely ignore this one. There's a very good chance it could be on sale in North America to fill the same hole in the brand's lineup over here, possibly as a 2016 model.
We recently spied the Envision completely undisguised as it was arriving at the Chengdu show for its debut. The CUV still looks like a stretched Encore from some front angles, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. It's got a similar oversized grille, hood vents (presumably faux) and large greenhouse as its little brother. Where the midsize CUV differs is its prominent crease running down the side and the different rear treatment, with wing-shaped trim cutting into the taillights.
The interior looks like a pretty nice place to spend time, too, with a predictable mix of leather, wood and metal, and it should be quiet in there with its active noise cancelation system. Infotainment is provided by an eight-inch touchscreen with a touchpad and voice controls.

Buick asks design students 'What could a Buick sedan look like in 2030?'

Mon, 09 Jun 2014

When you think of daring concept cars or emotional design-student projects, Buick probably isn't the first brand that comes to mind. It's not for lack of concepts; when General Motors ran down 11 concept-car highlights from Buick's 110-year history, three of them are from the past 15 years, with other experiments in that same timeframe like the Black Hawk, Centieme and Cielo left unmentioned.
But the company still thinks about them even if we don't. It ran a contest for students at Detroit's College for Creative Studies to create a Buick for the year 2030 that would incorporate future materials and transportation needs, and nanotechnology.
Best exterior design went to Sam Kenny for his Neo Classical Buick, Justin Salmon took honors for innovative material use, like having exposed algae on the bodyshell to generate energy, and Namsuk Lee nabbed best overall concept and best interior for his Buick Vision Sedan. You can read more about the design challenge and winners in the press release, and hear students talk about what went into the work in the video below.
