This is an auction for my 1971 Buick Skylark Custom Convertible. The motor is out of a 1972 Buick Skylark. It is a 350 4 barrel. I replaced the quadrajet with a rebuilt Holley. I also just replaced the radiator. I also installed an electronic ignition set up out of a 75 Lesabre ( I think ). The transmission is a th350. I still have the original 2 barrel intake and carb with air cleaner and the distributor with the points set up and the exhaust manifolds. The exhaust is headers with flowmasters. I have recently put in a new gas tank and trunk pan. I have brand new quarter panels that I haven't even taken out of the box yet. I also have 4 additional rims with tires. The top is rough. I leave it in the down position. I have the pistons and lines for it, but I do not have the motor. After running for a short time, the motor smokes. I don't hear any knocking or rapping. I thought that it was the carb which is why I replaced it but it didn't solve the problem. It is running rough but starts right up. I had a little frame work done in 2 spots. As as I know, the rest of it is o.k. I have most of, or maybe all of the chrome. I have 3 center caps that are not on the car. Some twit stole the 4 that I had. I no longer have the time or resources to continue working on the car. The car is for sale on my lawn. I reserve the right to end the auction early if the car sells here.

38k GM eAssist hybrids recalled for circuit board, fire risk
Mon, 06 May 2013General Motors has issued a recall covering 38,197 2012 and 2013 model-year Chevy Malibu Eco, Buick LaCrosse and Regal sedans equipped with eAssist, and sold in the United States. The automaker will check the generator control module for proper operation. Only vehicles built before December 2012 are being recalled.
According to the automaker, a malfunctioning generator control module could slowly drain the battery, causing an indicator to light up in the dash. If that indicator is ignored, the driver may experience a stalling engine, and in some cases, "a burning or melting odor, smoke, and, in rare instances, a fire in the trunk."
GM says the issue is not with the eAssist battery pack; the smoke and fire comes from overheating of the control board. One trunk fire has been reported, but no injuries are known. Scroll down below for the official press release from GM.
Small number of 2013 Buick Encore models recalled for loose steering wheel
Thu, 04 Apr 2013General Motors has issued a recall and a stop sale for the 2013 Buick Encore due to an issue that could result in the steering wheel falling off on certain models. In a letter to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, GM says that 144 Encores equipped with heated steering wheels could have been incorrectly retrofitted due to a parts shortage.
Needless to say, a loose or separated steering wheel would likely cause an accident if it happened while the vehicle was in motion. The recall doesn't go into effect until April 12, but concerned Encore owners can use the official recall notice (attached below) to contact GM.
Buick asks design students 'What could a Buick sedan look like in 2030?'
Mon, 09 Jun 2014When you think of daring concept cars or emotional design-student projects, Buick probably isn't the first brand that comes to mind. It's not for lack of concepts; when General Motors ran down 11 concept-car highlights from Buick's 110-year history, three of them are from the past 15 years, with other experiments in that same timeframe like the Black Hawk, Centieme and Cielo left unmentioned.
But the company still thinks about them even if we don't. It ran a contest for students at Detroit's College for Creative Studies to create a Buick for the year 2030 that would incorporate future materials and transportation needs, and nanotechnology.
Best exterior design went to Sam Kenny for his Neo Classical Buick, Justin Salmon took honors for innovative material use, like having exposed algae on the bodyshell to generate energy, and Namsuk Lee nabbed best overall concept and best interior for his Buick Vision Sedan. You can read more about the design challenge and winners in the press release, and hear students talk about what went into the work in the video below.
