1957 Caddy that has spent it's life in sunny Arizona. The odometer shows 10928 +/- miles and I believe it to be 110928 +/- miles.  I bought the car last winter knowing that the engine had a problem. Both head gaskets were blown which is quite common on these of Caddy's from the hot southwest. The engine has been professionally rebuilt from top to bottom with no expense spared, and the Caddy tri-power carburetor system on it.  The transmission was rebuilt shortly before I bought the car by a professional shop in Phoenix. All the glass is good and all of  the power windows roll up and down like they should. The interior is original and needs attention.  It is ok for a driver but should be redone to look good. Wide white wall tires look to be at least 85% and in nice shape. The hood has been replaced at some point with another white hood that is in very nice shape. There is no rot on the body anywhere and the car looks to be original outside except in two places where it looks like they sanded the metal and primered it for some reason? I could not find any filler any where.  The bottom of the car is in great shape. Exhaust system looks to be fairly new?  The patina on the outside of the car is real and like I said, there is no rot in the car that I could find.  I love the look of the car just as it is.  Floor pans and trunk pan look to be rust free.  I have driven the car several miles since I put it back together and it runs and drives fine. Gives a whole new meaning to "it floats down the road".  All of the lights work as they should. Windshield wipers work. The radio turns on, and the antenna goes up and down, but it does not play.  Remote mirror works.   Please ask any questions before you bid.  Buyer is responsible for all shipping costs. I can load on any truck or trailer.

Consumer Reports explains its disdain for infotainment

Thu, 20 Mar 2014

One of the perks of reviewing all manner of cars and trucks is that we're exposed to all the different infotainment systems. Whether Cadillac's CUE, Chrysler's UConnect, BMW's iDrive or MyFord Touch, we sample each and every infotainment system on the market.
Not surprisingly, some are better than others. It seems consumers have come to a similar consensus, with Consumer Reports claiming that Ford and Lincoln, Cadillac and Honda offer the worst user infotainment experiences. Not surprisingly, you won't find much argument among the Autoblog staff.
Take a look below to see just what it is about the latest batch of infotainment systems that grinds CR's gears. After that, scroll down into Comments and let us know if you agree with the mag's views.

Cadillac tipped to call flagship something other than LTS

Sun, 21 Sep 2014

Cadillac wouldn't be Cadillac without large sedans in its lineup, and while the XTS has had to hold down that end of the fort all on its own, it won't have to for too long. That's because the luxury brand in the General Motors portfolio is preparing to roll out its new LTS, stylistically previewed by the Elmiraj concept pictured above. Only now, the latest thinking is that the upcoming flagship model may not be called LTS at all.
As Automotive News points out, Cadillac's naming scheme is all over the place at the moment. The ATS slotting below the CTS makes sense (alphabetically), but where do the ELR, SRX and especially the Escalade fit into that naming hierarchy? And how would LTS - as the project has been known until now - sit above the XTS?
Fortunately, Cadillac may be on the case, as two of the division's most recent senior appointments seem keen to rationalize the naming scheme. One is Uwe Ellinghaus, who joined Cadillac as chief marketing officer late last year. Speaking of the brand's nomenclature last spring, Ellinghaus was quoted as saying, "We are aware that this is currently a weakness of the Cadillac brand." And his new boss is bound to agree.

Cadillac's Butler announces surprise departure

Mon, 05 Aug 2013

The Detroit Free Press is reporting that Cadillac's vice president of global strategic development, Don Butler, has resigned. Butler has held the position since April, after a term as vice president of US marketing for General Motor's luxury brand.
As the report explains, the timing here is pretty unfortunate for Cadillac. Butler is the third high-profile member of Cadillac's brass to depart in recent months, following the firing of US sales boss Chase Hawkins and the pending departure of Susan Docherty. Cadillac spokesman David Caldwell told the Detroit paper, "Bob [Ferguson]," global boss for Cadillac, "and other leaders asked him to stay on. Don's here in the office today - and told our team that his decision is purely on a personal level. After three years of putting everything into Cadillac, he is stepping away for some personal time, and to consider new avenues in his life."
Butler says his decision is part of a decision to "recalibrate, reassess my priorities." Whatever the reason, it's an unpleasant surprise for Cadillac, which has been on a surge in 2013, with 30-percent jump in sales on the heels of the hot-selling ATS.
