NO RESERVE!!!   The SEVENTH picture you see is what the car looked like when I purchased it over a year ago. I bought the car to experiment with giving a car a natural patina look and using my art skills I accomplished a bad-ass look on the hood, top, and trunk lid, the remainder of the car I was more subtle and had to be because the front left and right fenders are abs plastic and I painted them to look rusted (see photos). I bought this car from the second owner who was a Union 76 service station owner in my town. The title is clear and in my name, this is NOT a flip or story about the car is a friend's and I'm selling it for them... This is my car! With that out of the way, at 142,466 miles the car was given a new set of Michelin Harmony 95T tires all the way around. P205/70R15, a full lube job, windshield wipers, smog inspection( and yes it did pass, California is real particular about that). At the same time, the serpentine belt was replaced, the cooling system was serviced, and the car was made road ready. It's fun to drive and you definitely get the looks, more on that in a minute. Yes, the wheels are orange, they are NOT painted, they were professionally powder-coated by Armando at PERMACOLOR in my town. Center caps were purchased new on ebay and installed. On December 3, 2012 a new First Interstate battery was installed, along with BG pad protectors. The car was professionally lowered by the award-winning team at Scott's Hotrods N Customs in Oxnard, Ca. Cadillacs have an automatic load lifter so when people sit in the back seat the car will raise up, this was disconnected, but not removed and if desired it can be reconnected. The factory radio works only sometimes, it has a cassette player, but I will include a new Kenwood KDC stereo radio and CD player in the box in the purchase... ya gotta have tunes. There is a crusty bubble at the side rear of the drivers side, just up and left of the gas filler door. (see photos) and the trunk will close, but it's a little tricky and does take some finesse. Dependable, YES... I had the car gone through so that it is always road-ready, starts right up  and when you put your foot down, the car knows what you want to do., Headlamps, turn signals, brake lights, dome light, door lights, back up lights, license plate lights all work, gauges work fine and the mileage is true. Brakes are fine and the tranny and engine perform as they should. Lots of room in this car. The interior is white and in great condition, although the seats could use a good scrubbing, personally, I would have them dyed white, it's faster and they would look new if you did. The carpet and dash are blue, vinyl top is in good condition. I addedd a Stroh's Beer Tap to the selector, it's old, since it has Detroit 26, Michigan rather than a zip code on it. (see photo) I yellowed the front turn signals and blacked out the grille center see photo and compare to the original shot of the car.

The oil was changed on January 2, 2013 with Castrol Syntec, and of course the filter was changed, fittings lubricated and all the usual belts, brakes, lights, tire pressure, etc. were checked and are fine. When the car was lowered it was pointed out to me that the left ilnner tie rod end should be replaced and it was on January 21, 2013, On that same day the transmission cooler hoses and clamps were repaired and a new transmission filter kit and fluid were installed.  There's a small leak with the oil pan gasket, but I'm just telling you, because I know what it is like to purchase a vehicle online. It's not worth the cost to change it, but if you're a wrencher, go ahead. I would also suggest replacing both valve cover gaskets. I had the engine and under-chasis professionally degreased... In California, this is something that you have to go to a pro; You can't just do it in your driveway... big fine if you get caught.. and it was only a hundred bucks. Put the key in, start it up and go. NOW, about the pictures: The hood, top, and trunk were originally painted to look rusty... but I wanted a great patina, so I ground, used a little magic liquid, and then clear coated to bring out that brown patina we all love. The front fenders I've described. I had a sign painter paint the doors with advertising from an a place that use to exist in Detroit (which is where I use to live, but moved to Ca. in 1978). That's why the rear license plate, which is abs plastic is painted to look rusty and says Detroit, there's a tiger in the back window (as in Detroit Tiger), there's a Stroh's beer tap on the selector... and, by the way, that's a 1955 Chevrolet hood ornament I used to replace the standard Cadillac emblem on the hood. The signs painted on the front doors has been sanded and is barely visible now, to make it look like it has weathered over the years.  I've popped off the side plastic... ugly... the trim over the rear wheels and the mirror casings are plastic but painted to look rusty (see photos), and the rear tail light surrounds and between the trunk lid and bumber are a kind of rubber/plastic, but painted to look like they are rusting.... This was something I wanted to try on a car to get the effect... I would suggest painting the sides slightly with a matte dark blue so that the rust will work through and then clear coat the car... If you're not building and customizing your car, you're probably wasting time in front of the TV. Thank you for looking at this auction and I hope you enjoy the car as much as I have. There's a low reserve and please take a look at the photos to get a better idea of the "LQQK" of the car. Of course, this vehicle is sold as-is, where-is and it is the buyers responsibility to arrange transportation or pick-up of vehicle within 5 days of close of sale.

Cadillac XTS to become Opel flagship sedan?

Tue, 24 Jul 2012

According to Auto-News.de, Opel is considering using Cadillac's all-new big sedan, the XTS, as the base for its new flagship car, which would likely carry the name Omega.
WorldCarFans.com speculates that Opel could use GM's 3.6-liter direct-injection V6 that generates 304 horsepower or, possibly, a 2.8-liter turbocharged six-cylinder engine that creates 321 horsepower to power the vehicle. The European automaker could even use a 195-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder engine in this application - fine, since many of Europe's largest sedans are powered by smaller, more efficient engines.
Regardless of power, the Omega could arrive at dealerships by the end of 2013.

GM intends to offer semi-autonomous vehicles by 2020

Fri, 30 Aug 2013

Prepare for a few years of technological saber-rattling, as the world's automakers begin pushing to bring self-driving cars to market. Earlier this week, Nissan announced that it aims to offer autonomous vehicles by 2020, while Google, BMW and several other marks are working on similar efforts.
General Motors is doing things differently, though. Rather than push for a fully autonomous car, it's continuing to refine its semi-autonomous Super Cruise, a product that we tested in April 2012 and that will eventually see use on some Cadillacs before trickling down to the rest of the General Motors family. Super Cruise, which is undergoing testing in the Cadillac SRX, doesn't take complete control out of the driver's hands. Rather, under a very specific set of circumstances on the freeway, it will marry the capabilities of things like lane departure warning and adaptive cruise control to allow the driver to take their hands off the wheel. All of which sounds a lot like the system Mercedes-Benz is launching on the 2014 S-Class.
The system is still in development, according to John Capp, GM's director of electrical controls and active safety technology. Now that that the biggest hurdle, steering control, has been cleared, GM's engineers can focus on things like teaching the system to adapt to differing road conditions and visibility levels. As we reported in 2012, Super Cruise is still befuddled in low-visibility situations or when road markings aren't particularly clear.

GM's Reuss explains why Cadillac is heading to New York

Tue, 23 Sep 2014

"We're going to take it to a place [New York] to change the way that we do business around the brand of Cadillac." - Mark Reuss
General Motors product chief Mark Reuss elaborated Tuesday on Cadillac's move to New York in 2015, saying it will "elevate" the brand and allow it to reach new customers.
