Cool 1960 Hot Rod Caddy Deville Hardtop Up For Auction With NO RESERVE

74k original miles, 390 V8. It's a car I've put much love and money into and it's time to find her a new home. I have way too many cars (Cadillacs in particular) and I really don't take her out much. She's a great old runner that can be driven as is (you'll get many thumbs up and horns honking) or a perfect candidate for restoration. I've put under 3000 miles on the Caddy since I've had it, about three years.

Mechanical: when I got the Caddy I had to do a few things to get her to being a daily driver. She ran but had been sitting for awhile and needed to be gone through. I did the entire brake system; a new brake booster, master cylinder as well as all new brake lines, new brake hoses and cylinders at each wheel. Doing the brake system alone was almost $1300, the booster had to be sent out for a rebuild. She also got a new gas tank (NOT cheap!) and fuel lines as well as new fuel pump. She's got new dual exhaust with Flowmaster mufflers with pipes exiting out of the side as seen in the pix. She's also got new shocks all around (Monroe adjustable air shocks in the rear) as well as most of the front end done, tie rods, bushings, ball joints, etc, she handles incredibly well for such a long car. She's got all new belts, new hoses and a full tuneup. The previous owner had the radiator and water pump replaced in 2005 and told me the engine had been rebuilt in the early 90's but I have no paperwork on that. The wheels are aftermarket 18's with decent tires, I paid over $1500 for the set including the wheel bolt pattern adapters, I will leave them on for an extra $800. Otherwise I have the original Cadillac wheels and hubcaps in nice condition with good whitewall tires if you prefer the original look. The driver's power window and passenger rear window work, the other two can be put up and down by hand. The driver's and passenger windows are cracked but solid, all the other glass is in great shape, no scratches on the windshield. The engine is nice and quiet, no noises from the power steering pump, water pump, generator, etc, even when starting her on cold mornings.

Cosmetic: the Caddy is in nice "driver" condition. The interior got zebra print felt material on the dash and rear deck, it's just spray glued down. The dash had some cracks in it so I figured I'd give it some style. It can easily go back to stock appearance with a hard plastic dash cap sold on Ebay for $125. I put in new fitted carpet ordered off Ebay and reupholstered the bottoms of the door panels as well. I added matching blue Cadillac seat belts ordered off Ebay, they're 60's era Caddy seat belts. The seats are in overall good condition, just a couple of small seams opening in spots. The power seat works intermittently, the switch could use cleaning or replacing. It has that "glitter cloth" look popular in 1960. The paint is dull, it's a good "ten-footer", she looks better in the pix than in person. Some small patches have been done behind the front wheels by the previous owner and I put strips of heavy diamond plate down at the bottom each side to add to the custom look, it really looks tough. The front bumper is in good shape, dull but no rust, the rear bumper ends around the taillights will need attention, they're starting to peel. The underside of the car is strong, floors are good, one small area in the driver's footwell has had new metal put in and the frame is solid. The original AM radio still works as well as the power antenna. There's a modern CD stereo mounted in a housing under the dash. Overall she presents well as seen in the pix; she's not a showcar by any means but a really cool Kustom. It's funny, at car shows people will walk right by $50k restored cars to take pix with my Caddy!

All the directional/brake/turn signal/headlights work as well as heater, defroster, wipers and horn. Engine always starts easily, even after sitting for a month or two. Cruises nicely on the highway, holds the road perfectly. Runs very strong, 304 HP 390 V8 moves this big girl with LOTS of power, idles perfectly, shifts smoothly, stops easily and the suspension is luxurious. No leaks, garage floor always dry when I take her out. For what it's worth, I've got a LOT of cash into the Caddy, I never planned on selling her. Whoever buys this car will immediately see the love and attention that went into it.

I reserve the right to end the auction early as the Caddy is for sale locally and I'm open to reasonable buy it now offers as well. I can assist with shipping in the USA or internationally if necessary, cost of shipping to paid by buyer. If you need it I can recommend a door to door auto shipper I've used many times in the past; they're professional, reliable and have great rates. This is a NO RESERVE auction, top bidder gets her!

Nice classic Caddy which will only appreciate in value! Any questions feel free to call or email. 914-224-3230

Cadillac LTS flagship to bow at NY Auto Show

Wed, 06 Aug 2014

There is widespread agreement across the industry that Cadillac needs a proper, rear-drive flagship sedan that completes legitimately with the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, Audi A8 and BMW 7 Series.
Fortunately, the same view is held within the company, and just such a car - possibly dubbed LTS - is under development. According to a high-level source at Cadillac, the new four-door, which is said to incorporate design cues from the marque's celebrated Elmiraj coupe concept, will debut at the New York Auto Show next April.
If the car needs a cheerleader, surely incoming president Johan de Nysschen is just such a person. De Nysschen doesn't arrive at Cadillac until late in the month, but certainly he will want a proper flagship to do battle with his old foes at Mercedes-Benz and BMW and old friends at Audi and Infiniti.

What will the next Presidential limo look like?

Thu, 25 Jul 2013

With recent news that the Secret Service has begun soliciting proposals for a new armored limousine, we've been wondering what the next presidential limo might look like. The current machine, nicknamed "The Beast", has a design based on a car that's no longer sold: the Cadillac DTS. If General Motors gets the job again, which wouldn't be a surprise considering the government still owns a chunk of the company, the next limo's shape would likely resemble the new XTS (below, left). But Cadillac hasn't always been the go-to car company for presidential whips.
Lincoln has actually provided far more presidential limousines throughout history than Cadillac. In fact, the first car modified for Commander-in-Chief-carrying duty was a 1939 Lincoln K-Series called "Sunshine Special" used by Franklin D. Roosevelt, and the last Lincoln used by a president was a 1989 Town Car ordered for George H.W. Bush. If President Obama wanted a Lincoln today, it would likely be an amalgam of the MKS sedan and MKT crossover, as illustrated above.
And what about Chrysler? The only record we could find of a President favoring the Pentastar is Nixon, who reportedly ordered two limos from the company during his administration in the '70s, and then another one, known today as the "K-Car limo," in the '80s after he left office. Obama, however, has a personal - if modest - connection to Chryslers, having owned a 300 himself before he took office. A 300-based Beast (above, right) would certainly earn the U.S. some style points.

Cadillac scraps three-row CUV plans

Fri, 23 May 2014

Crossovers are one of the hottest automotive segments on the planet. Apparently, the idea of mixing the practicality of a station wagon with the looks of an SUV appeals to people whether they are in Cleveland or Shanghai because nearly every automaker is jumping into the market. So it was no surprise when early rumors suggested Cadillac was planning two, new CUVs to fit above and below the SRX. But things might have changed since then.
New rumblings indicate Caddy is taking a different route. Instead of two crossovers, only the compact is on the way, and the larger, three-row CUV on the Lambda platform to sit between the SRX and Escalade may be a goner. According to Ward's Auto, General Motors thinks that the other three-row, Lambda vehicles like the Buick Enclave and GMC Acadia compete too closely with the proposed Cadillac. The decision comes fairly close to the 2017 intended production date.
As far back as 2010, this Lambda-platform based CUV was considered highly likely for production. However, Cadillac Senior Vice President Bob Ferguson was somewhat cooler about it when he discussed the new crossover briefly last year. He said the model could use the Escalade name, despite its unibody chassis, but no decision had been made yet to actually produce it.
