Have you ever dreamed of discovering a car that was tucked away in a garage and forgotten? That happened to me when I found this beautiful 1979 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz. This was my elderly neighbor’s car that she purchased new at a local dealership. She drove it only during the warmer months, and then parked it inside her garage while she drove her AWD Mercedes in the winter. In 1994 she moved to Florida to live with her son and the car remained parked in a climate controlled garage, covered up until her son sold it to me last year. I moved into my house in 1998 so I  did not know the car was sitting there until the day her son had the garage door open and I stumbled across it. Now anyone who knows anything about cars knows that you just can’t get in it and drive it after it has sat for 18 years. I spent almost $4,000.00 to get this Cadillac roadworthy, but now it runs and drives quite nicely. Tires and brakes are great, engine and transmission are smooth, and all electrical components work including the automatic ride leveler and cruise control. The next owner should not have to put very much money into the vehicle, if any. You should be able to drive it any distance with confidence. The interior is almost flawless with no rips, tears, or even any wear areas. To my knowledge the car has never been smoked in, eaten or drank in. The dash is excellent with the dash pad not faded or cracked anywhere. There is very little pitting on the chrome. The headliner was replaced by me. The outside is clean, straight, and rust free with a couple of small areas with a little surface rust. There is a boo boo on the passenger’s side behind the front bumper (pictured). Also, the son told me the front fenders were repainted. Seems his Mother had trouble navigating the narrow garage door and scraped booth front fenders. No body was required, just a respray. I have no reason to believe the mileage of 43,590 is not original. I didn’t do any major detailing to the car, just washed it and vacuumed the interior. Trunk and engine compartment are the way they looked when I pulled it out of the garage.

I can go on and on about the superior condition of the Cadillac, but I’m running out of text space. It is offered at no reserve; however I express the right to sell it locally, so it is subject to availability. Inspections are welcomed and recommended but I would be astonished if an inspector found anything of consequence. If you require more information, please reply to the ad with your phone number and I will reply as soon as possible. Thank you for considering my vehicle.

Cadillac's new ad campaign to tell you how to get lucky

Thu, 05 Sep 2013

Cadillac is set to launch a new ad campaign this fall, as it attempts to maintain the momentum established by new models like the ATS. The campaign comes from an agency called Rogue, and according to AdAge, will lean on American values. It's called, "Work Hard. Be Lucky."
The campaign is fairly self-explanatory, just from the tagline. It's meant to make a Cadillac seem more attainable to the average, aspirational buyer. It does kind of pander to that American idea that everyone's hard work gets rewarded, but as ad campaigns go, that's not a bad thing.
Somehow, it doesn't roll off the tongue quite like "The Standard of the World." As AdAge points out, Cadillac's advertising over the years has lacked a real coherent theme, although we'll admit to enjoying the most recent campaigns, particularly the around-the-world jaunts with the ATS. It's unclear if the "Work Hard. Be Lucky." theme will evolve into an actual tagline for the brand, with Caddy spokesman Dave Caldwell telling the advertising mag, "It could very easily end up being a line of copy along with other lines; we don't really know yet. It's an open question as to how dramatically it will be featured."

Facelifted Cadillac ATS spied completely uncovered

Thu, 27 Feb 2014

The Cadillac ATS makes for a pretty svelte little coupe, and General Motors appears to know it, because multiple, completely undisguised prototype sedans have been spotted testing wearing what look like many of the forthcoming coupe's body parts.
Not only does it wear at least the outline of the brand's new, broader crest, it has the same front air dam with continuous chrome strip found on the coupe. The only real difference is that it has the somewhat taller side view mirrors from the sedan, rather than the narrower, longer ones from the coupe. Around back, the changes are harder to spot because the test car is outfitted with an unpainted lower bumper. However, it seems to lack the chrome strip that offsets the lower portion of the coupe from the sedan.
The ATS sedan is already a looker, but it is good to see Cadillac is taking a second pass using what it learned on the coupe. There's no word yet on when this revised sedan is going to hit the streets - let alone what changes will take place beneath the skin - but we're thinking it looks about right for 2015.

Cadillac Elmiraj sedan RWD flagship finally caught testing

Wed, 22 Jan 2014

While we still have no insight as to it being named Elmiraj, STS or some other permutation of the -TS nomenclature ("LTS" has apparently been registered by GM, as well), new spy shots give us proof positive that Cadillac is indeed hard at work on a rear-wheel-drive flagship model. Spied for the very first time in some north country testing, these shots provide a first look at the upcoming range-topper from Cadillac.
Impressively long and large bodywork ride atop new General Motors' corporate Omega rear-drive architecture here. Heavy cladding over camouflage may discourage finding any details, but the overall, sharp-edged and blocky design is clearly reminiscent of what we've seen on the new CTS and the recently debuted ATS coupe. A strong, wheels-at-each-corner stance helps emphasize the length of this stretched Caddy, and everything about the proportions seem spot-on for a new fullsize flagship for the brand.
It's quite possible that Cadillac will ultimately festoon this large sedan with detailing reminiscent of the original Elmiraj coupe, though thus far we've only seen prototypes wearing four-doors.
