This is classic style long hood, big V8, Red on Red, Red on Red,1975 Cadillac Eldorado! This car has been driven daily at times, and even in the cold Mid Atlantic winter starts just fine. The car was stored inside until recently and dealer maintained by the previous owner. I have had the car about 6 months. I have changed the oil and filter once. This is a wonderful driving car with low mileage. You can drive the car and work on cosmetics. There are a few small rust spots around the rear window where the vinyl top meets the sheet metal above the trunk lid.  I have never seen an unrestored 70's Cadillac that didn’t have this problem. These spots need to be sanded, and coated with primer. Unfortunately or fortunately the paint itself isn’t bad however there are some fixes that need to be made and the car should painted. If you can do the color matching and prep work or can get it done reasonably this is an easy light restoration while you drive it project car. If you don’t want to do much work you can sand and primer the areas that need preventative care and drive the car, or just drive the car and don’t worry about it. It’s a beautiful full-size Red Cadillac. Probably most important on these cars is the heat and AC works including the switching from heat to defrost to AC. My Caddy blows warm air in the winter and the AC comes on and blows in the summer.  The AC needs to be converted to R134 and charged. Lastly, there is a noticeable scratch behind the passenger door. The car is for sale locally for $4800.00 and on other sites also. I have replaced the radiator with a good aluminum one and the water pump which will ensure good summer cooling while running the AC. I planned to keep this Eldorado except: I have health issues that are not going away, I have six car projects that I will not finish due to health, and being a disabled now my income is fixed at a young age, and my wife is dead in my rear to clear cars out! I really want to get this car to someone who wants to enjoy it.

11 vehicles from Barrett-Jackson Las Vegas worth watching

Fri, 26 Sep 2014

This weekend will see the world's collector car crowds descend on Las Vegas, NV for one of the biggest shows on Barrett-Jackson's popular auction circuit. There are hundreds of vehicles up for bidding, ranging from a brand-new Lamborghini Aventador to a spattering of Art Deco classics and a huge swath of classic muscle cars.
While it's virtually impossible to assemble an inarguable list of the best cars coming during the three-day, 700-plus vehicle auction, we've sifted through the listings for this year's show - it was a tough assignment, we promise - and assembled a list of what we think will be some of the most interesting lots. We'll admit, it's a bit heavy on American iron, but if you browse BJ's listings, you'll come to a similar conclusion. Still, scroll down for our list of what we think will be the most interesting vehicles at the upcoming auction.

GM recalling 524k vehicles over hood latches and toe link nuts

Fri, 03 Oct 2014

Just hours after confirming to Autoblog its intention to recall 97,540 vehicles in the US (117,651 in North America) for a possible manufacturing defect in the chassis control module of several models, General Motors is issuing two more campaigns that affect another 379,401 units in the US (524,384 in North America).
One campaign covers 290,107 US examples of the 2010-2015 Cadillac SRX and the 2011-2012 Saab 9-4X because the "rear toe link adjuster lock nuts" may be improperly torqued. If not up to spec, the toe adjuster link could separate and allow the wheel to shift while driving, making the handling unstable. GM says that it knows of three crashes and two injuries as a result of this problem. Dealers are inspecting the nuts and installing a new link assembly, if necessary. Autoblog first reported about this potential issue when it showed up on a list of recalls from Transport Canada.
The second recall is for 89,294 examples of the 2013-2015 Chevrolet Spark in the US manufactured from January 17, 2012, through July 29, 2014. According to GM, "corrosion can cause the secondary hood latch striker to stick in the open position." If this happens, and the primary latch also isn't engaged for some reason, the hood could fly open while driving. About 13,000 of these affected Sparks are at dealers and are being held until repaired. The fix requires replacing the hood striker. GM isn't aware of crashes, injuries or fatalities caused by this problem.

C7 Corvette won't spawn new Cadillac XLR [w/video]

Fri, 23 Aug 2013

Between the new 2014 Chevy Corvette Stingray and the even newer Cadillac Elmiraj Concept shown off at Pebble Beach, we were already expecting some sort of chatter of a Cadillac XLR redux. During an in-depth C7 Corvette discussion with Tadge Juechter, the car's chief engineer, Fox News asked if a Corvette-based, Bowling Green-built Cadillac will be built off the C7. Non-spoiler alert: the answer is no.
Juechter says that General Motors has "no intent" on transforming this car into a Cadillac product since the C7 has been optimized for the Corvette buyer, a consumer that's generally a different sort of person than a Cadillac intender who might also be cross-shopping a Mercedes-Benz SL-Class or BMW 6 Series.
While we're not ready to write off a future XLR altogether, we assume that the Corvette Cadillac experiment is most likely never going to happen again. The interview with Juechter is posted below, but the XLR discussion comes in at the 9:00 mark.
