1940 Cadillac 60 Special W/ Division Window on 2040-cars
Live Oak, Florida, United States
This car is a rare model. Only 113 were made with the division window The division window will roll up or down with a handle in the passengers' compartment. This car was designed to be chauffeur-driven. The chauffeur's seat appears to be leather and to the best of my knowledge is leather, but I have never had an expert evaluate it. I have owned it since 1987. It has since always been parked in my garage or shop building in North Florida. It is in substantially the same condition that it was when I bought it in 1987, except that I have upgraded in several respects, especially mechanically. Most of the mechanicals (including the engine) have been completely rebuilt and I have documentation to support it. The car has less than 1000 miles since the mechanical rebuild. The tires were new in 2013 and have less than 500 miles on them since then. The engine and body numbers match. The side-mount located on the passenger side exterior is a functioning accessory and contains a spare tire. No bidder should purchase the car without personally driving and inspecting it or having someone do so on his or her behalf. Some of the features of the car besides the division window are: sealed beam headlights and directional signals (both new for Cadillac in 1940); twin running lights mounted on the front bumper; stainless steel exhaust system; pull-down arm rest in rear seat; hand throttle on the dash; radio, heater, power antenna. |

GM recalling 117,000 sedans, crossovers, SUVs, pickups and vans
Thu, 02 Oct 2014General Motors has issued a stop-sale to dealers and has notified the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration of its intention to recall 117,000 vehicles in the United States, Canada and Mexico. Of those vehicles, only 4,500 are at dealerships.
The affected vehicles include the Cadillac CTS and Chevrolet Impala sedans, fullsize SUVs (Cadillac Escalade, Chevy Tahoe and Suburban and GMC Yukon and Yukon XL), Lambda-platform crossovers (Chevy Traverse, Buick Enclave and GMC Acadia), heavy-duty pickups (Chevy Silverado HD and GMC Sierra HD) and fullsize vans (Chevy Express and GMC Savana). The sedans and body-on-frame SUVs include model years 2013 and 2014, while the CUVs, heavy-duty pickups and vans are limited to MY2014.
GM confirmed the recall to Autoblog via an emailed statement (which we've included below). According to the statement, the issue at hand in what is the company's 69th recall of 2014 covers the chassis-control module. Automotive News is reporting that a problem in the chassis-control system could cause a short in the module, which could cause the engine to stall or fail to start. The fault could also affect the trailer-brake control, provided it's equipped.
Cadillac may not build Elmiraj coupe
Wed, 20 Nov 2013Despite the fact that most everyone who has laid eyes on the Cadillac Elmiraj concept coupe loves it, General Motors insiders are still trying to prove the business case to build the car. And it's certainly not a guarantee.
"I want to see this car go into production badly. Very badly," Ed Welburn, GM's Global Head of Design, told Autoblog. But the Cadillac design studio is busier than it's ever been before, and the company is working on prioritizing which cars deserve to get the billion-dollar price tag needed to research and develop a new model.
No matter what happens, Welburn says the car has made its mark on Cadillac
