1978 Cadillac Fleet Wood Brougham. There were 36,800 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham Sedans produced during 1978. Power was from a V-8 engine that displaced 425 cubic-inches and produced nearly 200 horsepower. Power was sent to the rear wheels via a Turbo Hydra-Matic transmission and disc brakes provided the stopping power. There were only minor changes over the prior year, such as the front seats which now had seatback pockets. On the exterior of the vehicle, the back bumper and the front grille had been restyled. There was a new wreath-and-crest ornamentation set within brushed chrome moldings. The Fleetwood Brougham name was a solid nameplate in the Cadillac lineup, first appearing in 1947 and produced through 1996.An extremely large vehicle, the Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham was introduced from 1947 until 1996 with the name combining two very well-know Cadillac trim lines, the Brougham and the Fleetwood. The name alone was meant to signify elegance and the finest of quality the maker could possibly produce. The original model to carry this name was the '47 Fleetwood Brougham with a sedan version, a coupe version as well as a limousine version. In comparison to the Sixty Special, the Fleetwood Brougham was a much more upscale trim line and featured tray tables and footrests in the rear. The original model was part of the Cadillac Series 60 line and was a closed, two-door coupe, two-door convertible, 4-door limousine, 4-door sedan and was Cadillac's first pillar-less hardtop and convertible, besides the Sedan DeVille and the Coupe DeVille. The Fleetwood Brougham was one of the most expensive models in the Series 62 line and it was intended as a prestige model. Inside the vehicle was luxuriously appointed and featured leather upholstery and chrome ‘bows' in the headliner to imitate the ribs of a convertible top. This generation was only in the market for this model for one year because the Cadillac line would undergo a complete remodel.
Vehicle has all original features. 2 Owners only, current owner since 1994. Always garaged and driven only in nice weather. Vehicle located in Helena, MT.

2015 Cadillac Escalade blings its way into LA
Thu, 21 Nov 2013The new Cadillac Escalade sauntered out onto the Los Angeles Auto Show stage, showing off its new familial face and redesigned interior. That exterior, with its slim, wrap-over headlights and tall, vertical taillights (both made up of LEDs) is a subtle but significant departure from the past styling of General Motors' flagship SUV.
And while there's no shortage of stuff to discuss about the Caddy's exterior, its cabin is where the big changes happen. Aside from the column-mounted shifter, the cabin receives a heavy going-over, receiving Cadillac's new CUE infotainment system and a significant upgrade to the materials. Comparing it to furniture, Eric Clough, Cadillac's director of design for interiors, said, "An exceptional level of craftsmanship has gone into the redesign of the 2015 Cadillac Escalade, and it all centers on the premium materials and extensive use of cut-and-sew live stitching."
Under hood sits a 420-horsepower, 460-pound-foot, 6.2-liter V8. Fitted with direct injection and active fuel management, fuel economy for the big Escalade should get a much-needed boost beyond the current model's 14-city and 18-highway miles per gallon, although official numbers haven't been published quite yet. A six-speed automatic is the sole gearbox choice. Cadillac has also fitted the new Escalade with GM's magnetic ride control system, which should deliver a more refined ride than its predecessor.
Dodge Dart falls short of Consumer Reports Recommended, Caddy XTS and Lincoln MKS, too
Thu, 22 Nov 2012The Dodge Dart, Cadillac XTS and Lincoln MKS all failed to earn a "Recommended" rating from Consumer Reports. When it came to the compact Dart, the organization's testers thought the vehicle offered a quiet cabin, solid-feeling chassis and nimble suspension, but the new model ultimately fell short of the coveted rating due to powertrain issues. The institute's reviewers found the base 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine to be underpowered and noted "drivability issues" when the available turbocharged 1.4-liter four was paired with the optional dual-clutch transmission (some of our editors disliked it paired with the six-speed manual). CR also dinged the latter powerplant for sounding "raspy." For what it's worth, we think the forced-induction engine offers an excellent and playful exhaust note, but that's just us.
As for the XTS, CR lauded the car for its luxurious cabin, but the vehicle's experience was dulled by its finicky CUE infotainment interface. Overall, the big Cadillac scored much higher than its cross-town rival from Lincoln. While testers found the American luxury sedan to offer a quiet ride and quality fit and finish, they felt the MKS delivered a "cramped driving position, ungainly handling, uncomposed ride, and limited visibility." Ouch. At the end of the day, both cars fell short of rivals from Japan, Germany and Korea. Check out the full press release below with more details, along with CR's musings on the Chevrolet Spark and Lexus ES.
Cadillac mulling CTS Coupe successor after all
Thu, 04 Apr 2013The 2014 Cadillac CTS made a big splash last week at the New York Auto Show, but now that we've seen the sedan, we can start to wonder about whether coupe and wagon versions are in the cards. According to Edmunds, Cadillac is at least considering bringing back the CTS Coupe for a second generation, which seems like an even better chance since the brand's global marketing director, Jim Vurpillat, was quoted as saying that the car was the top-selling luxury coupe in the industry.
Of course, this goes against reports we heard last year that Caddy's coupe and wagon would live on just not under the CTS name, but the interview with Vurpillat has us hopeful for a next-generation CTS Coupe. If it does come to fruition, we would expect the new two-door to have a largely unique exterior design like the current CTS Coupe, to echo that of intended rivals like the Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe and even the high-dollar BMW 6 Series.
