1995 Chevy Astro Mini Van on 2040-cars
Hohenwald, Tennessee, United States
I HAVE A 1995 CHEVY ASTRO MINI VAN FOR SALE. IN GOOD CONDITION FOR THE AGE. RUNS AND DRIVES GOOD. HAD NEW TRANSMISSION PUT IN A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO BUT HAVE DRIVEN IT VERY LITTLE SINCE THEN...MAYBE 10,000 MILES. TIRES IN VERY GOOD CONDITION. BRAKES GOOD. AIR BLOWS COLD AND HEATER WORKS GOOD. ELECTRIC TOW. MAY NEED A BATTERY OR JUST CHARGED UP. INTERIOR IN GOOD SHAPE. IT HAS AN ELECTRIC WHEELCHAIR LIFT INSTALLED. IT IS TIED IN TO THE SIDE SLIDING DOOR. THIS IS NOT WORKING. PROBABLY CAN BE FIXED FAIRLY EASILY FOR SOMEONE MECHANICALLY INCLINED. NO OTHER KNOWN PROBLEMS. IT ALSO HAS HAND CONTROLS AND A 6-WAY POWER DRIVER'S SEAT INSTALLED. THESE DO NOT AFFECT HOW THE VAN OPERATES. THESE CUSTOM ACCESSORIES CAN BE REMOVED AND SOLD ON THEIR OWN IF SO DESIRED. I AM NOT ADVERTISING IT AS A HANDICAP VAN BECAUSE OF THE FACT THAT THE WHEELCHAIR LIFT IS NOT CURRENTLY WORKING.
THIS VAN WOULD MAKE A GOOD WORK VAN. BEING SOLD AS IS. NO WARRANTY. THANKS. |

Silverado HD, Touareg V10 TDI face off in diesel tug-of-war
Sun, 30 Dec 2012A couple weeks ago, we watched a Chevrolet Silverado get dominated by a Dodge Ram Heavy Duty in a fullsize pickup tug-of-war, but in that truck's defense, Chevy's Vortec gas engine was no match for the torquey Cummins turbo diesel. For our next round of vehicular tug-of-war, a Duramax-powered Silverado HD takes on Volkswagen Touareg V10 TDI.
Now, on paper, putting the Duramax V8's 365 horsepower and 660 pound-feet of torque up against the V10's 310 hp and 553 lb-ft looks like an easy win for the Bowtie, but unfortunately, this battle has a similar result as the Dodge versus Chevy video, with the Silverado smoking its tires trying to move forward as it gets pulled backwards. Put another way: YouTube 2, Chevy Silverado 0.
It just goes to show, though, that big tires, bolt-on fender flares and goofy smoke stacks don't improve your towing abilities. Besides, what did the Silverado driver expect when the Touareg V10 TDI has towed a Boeing 747 in the past?
UAW to vote on strike at Kentucky Corvette plant
Tue, 08 Apr 2014The current wait time for a new Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is well, not short. With word of a strike at the Bowling Green, KY factory responsible for seventh-generation sports car, though, that wait time could end up growing substantially.
Now, a strike is still a ways off. UAW Local 2164, which represents the 800 workers responsible for screwing the Corvette together, is set to vote on authorizing a strike today, but even if the employees give the action a go, it's far from a sure thing. According to The Tennessean, both regional and national union officials would need to put their stamp of approval on strike action.
"The membership has to vote to strike, but it's just a step in the process," said Gary Casteel, the UAW's Region 8 director and one of the people that would need to authorize a strike action. Casteel told The Tennessean, "It's purely a local situation, though. They are having some issues with the local management."
GM applies for LT5, LTX trademarks... are new small block variants coming?
Mon, 29 Apr 2013Recently discovered General Motors trademark applications for LT4, LT5, LT88 and LTX have observers wondering what kind of high-performance offerings could be on their way. A new LT4 would mark a return of the engine designation first used on the Corvette Grand Sport, SLP Pontiac Firehawk and SLP Chevrolet Camaro SS from 1996 and 1997. Supposition at Corvette Forum - which provided advance intel on the C7 like these leaked images - believes a new LT4 could go into the high-performance trim of the next-gen, 2015 Camaro that would be more powerful than the 580-horsepower Camaro ZL1.
Seeing an LT5 again would also be déjà vu - in its former life it was a 5.7-liter V8 for the C4 Corvette ZR-1 from 1990-1994 designed by Lotus, producing from 370 hp to 405 hp. A mix of rumor and hope is that the new LT5 will be a supercharged evolution of the 6.2-liter LT1 (pictured) placed in the new C7 Corvette, and that it will go into the C7 version of the ZR1 pumping out something like 700 hp.
The LTX trademark is, as with that last letter, a complete mystery. If the "X" isn't a generic way to denote the whole LT family, it's wondered if it LTX could refer to a crate motor offering like the LSX.
