Beautiful 1955 Chevy Bel Air Full Show Quality Custom
You would be hard pressed to find a nicer custom Tri-five, no expense spared.
The restoration started with a rust free car that has all of its original sheet metal including the floors and
fenders. It then received a beautiful professional BC/CC paint job in Corvette Atomic orange and Smokestone
metallic over the laser straight body. Body is mostly stock for that nostalgic look. Only modification to the
body is the widened rear wheel wells to accommodate the wider rear wheels and tires.
The exterior still has the original Bel Air trim with smoothed one piece bumpers and all new chrome and emblems.
Underneath the car is a very smooth stripped and powder coated frame with front tubular A-arms connected to lowered
springs and spindles, heavy duty sway bars, power rack and pinion steering, power front and rear disc brakes,
4-link rear end with adjustable coil overs and a limited slip differential in a narrowed camaro axle with new posi
unit and custom heavy duty axles and all new bearings and seals.
Under the hood is where this car really stands apart from other basic custom tri-fives with an all aluminum fuel
injected LS2 corvette crate motor with upgraded cam. The motor features full fuel injection with custom harness
and tuned computer, upgraded aluminum intake, high performance coils, and is pushing out about 480hp to the rear
wheels. Mated to this awesome motor is a brand new Tremec 6 spd from American Powertrain with hydraulic clutch
and custom driveshaft. Exhaust is handled through a fully welded 3" tubular stainless exhaust with 2.5" electric
cutouts exiting just behind the rear wheels.
Interior is full custom with leather bucket seats, console, custom gauges, power windows, vintage A/C, and a
touchscreen audio system with amplifier.

Camaro spy shots show subtly different grille, front fascia
Sun, 03 Feb 2013It looks like there some changes in store for the Chevrolet Camaro - the only thing is that we just don't know what Chevy has up its sleeve. Looking at these spy shots, we'd initially be inclined to think that there is just a minor facelift or a new special edition, but upon closer inspection, there are a few oddities about this car that definitely have us intrigued.
The most obvious difference on this prototype is the slightly restyled front fascia with a smaller lower air inlet and the two-bar grille. Then we get to some of the car's mysterious details. For starters, this fascia has the SS vent above the grille, but it looks to be blocked off. Granted this could just be a one-off piece used for testing. What really piqued our interest was at the rear of the car where it has quad exhaust outlets that are used on the ZL1. Could this be the LS7-powered Camaro that we reported on back in December?

Artist imagines eerie world where cars have no wheels
Thu, 24 Jan 2013The wheel ranks right up there with the telescope and four-slice toaster in the pantheon of inventions that have moved humankind forward. But what if a circle in three dimensions had never occurred to anyone, and we all had just moved on without it? Perhaps we'd be driving around in Lucas Motors Landspeeders with anti-gravity engines. Or maybe we'd have the same cars we do today, just without wheels.
That's the thought experiment that seems to have led French photographer Renaud Marion to create his six-image series called Air Drive. The shots depict cars throughout many eras of motoring that look normal except for one thing: they have no wheels. The models used include a Jaguar XK120, Cadillac DeVille (shown above), Chevrolet El Camino and Camaro, and Mercedes-Benz SL and 300 roadsters.
Perhaps one day when our future becomes our past, you'll be able to walk the street and see with your own eyes the rust and patina of age on our nation's fleet of floating cars. Until then, Monsieur Marion's photographs will have to do.
Who sold the most heavy-duty pickups in 2012? PickupTrucks.com investigates
Tue, 26 Feb 2013Domestic manufacturers enjoyed a good year for heavy-duty pickup sales in 2012. PickupTrucks.com has taken a close look at exactly how those sales broke down between each manufacturer and between three-quarter and one-ton pickups. Ford sold some 67,786 F-250 Super Duty models last year with the Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD falling just behind at 56,359 units. The Ram 2500 HD came in third at 41,918, while the GMC Sierra 2500 HD earned itself fourth place with 27,616 deliveries. While Ford held onto the top spot in the one-ton market, Ram easily nailed down second place by selling more 3500 HD models last year than General Motors sold Silverado 3500 HD and Sierra 3500 HD trucks combined.
So, did GM manage to sell more trucks than Ford with its two brands? Very nearly. Ford sold a total of 119,338 heavy-duty pickups to GM's 111,555. Ram, meanwhile, moved a distant 77,583. But perhaps more interesting is the diesel take rate in this segment. PickupTrucks.com says 80 percent of all domestic one-ton trucks roll from the dealer lot with a turbo-diesel under the hood.
