Too many projects and one has to go... This 57 Chevy was originally Matador red with an Ivory top
and at some point in it's life the body was painted black. It was the base BelAir with the standard 235 six cylinder and standard three on the tree standard transmission. No other options except for the bumper guards, even still has the radio delete panel in place. Someone has started the rebuild and had new seat covers, headliner, and door panels installed, but the front door panels will require new cardboard as they did not use the correct material, covers are still usable, will have to be re-glued. The bottom of the car is as clean as the top with a flat black paint. This car runs and drives, but will need some minor additional work Here is what I was planning on restoring: Repaint the entire car back to the original colors, replace driver's door hinge pin(already purchased), replace windshield (hairline crack-pass. side), driver's side front floor pan was replaced but not welded in correctly by the previous owner, replace front cardboard interior door panels, restore passenger side window slides, restore all seals, restore minor dents, scratches, very, very small rust places on trunk area and rockers where molding was covering, replace rocker moldings. All trim and the doghouse was removed for painting and just replaced for the pictures and to sell, not all bolts are in nor is the doghouse wiring(pretty easy stuff) completed. Horns work thru a pushbutton on dash. Bumper bolts to re-attach, originals were burnt off. New Trim clips are included. I'm pretty sure the car is 98% complete . Here is what has been done already: Interior, engine and trans, brakes, Coker classics , gas tank, complete exhaust system, Many replacement parts from Eckler's over $100. Almost all bolts and panels on doghouse (front fenders and hood have been cleaned and repainted. This will be a great project for someone to finish on a classic Chevy. This Chevy has been very well taken care of and can be driven with just a few minor repairs. Selling with No Reserve, Bid to own, I have the clear title in my name and hand. Car is located near Effingham, IL at zip 62443. Delivery can be at $1.00 per loaded mile - reasonable distance.. I won't stop auction, so please bid to win. Joe Flacco wins C7 Corvette along with MVP honors
Mon, 04 Feb 2013As part of a longstanding tradition, the MVP of Super Bowl XLVII, Joe Flacco, quarterback for the Baltimore Ravens, was given a new car directly after the game and trophy celebrations. For 2013, that car is a 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, and it was presented to Flacco by Rick Flick of Banner Chevrolet, a dealership in New Orleans that was wiped out by Hurricane Katrina in 2005 before returning to prominence as the only Chevy dealer in Orleans Parish.
Last year, Super Bowl MVP Eli Manning took home a 2012 Corvette GS Centennial Edition. Manning also won in 2008, when he selected a Cadillac Escalade Hybrid as his reward. In 2011, quarterback Aaron Rodgers accepted the keys to a Camaro convertible.
Though we're most definitely an auto-obsessed group, we did watch the Big Game along with nearly everyone else in America. And we've gotta say, as if winning the Super Bowl and receiving the Tiffany-designed Pete Rozelle Trophy wasn't enough for the multi-millionaire MVP athletes, a brand-new C7 seems like an awfully generous prize. Chevrolet Camaros at SEMA are a mobile accessory catalog
Wed, 06 Nov 2013Chevy's goal at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas this week seems to be to show as much of its Performance and Accessories catalog as possible. That's why it brought three different Camaros - two with V8s and one powered by a V6 - with all of the best goodies from the catalog already fitted.
We gave a more in-depth recap of the Performance Camaro V8 Concept, the Performance Camaro V6 Concept and the Performance Garage Concept already, but we figured you'd like a short recap for each. It should be noted, though, that you can order all of the items you see here for your own Camaro, so be sure to take a long, hard look at our live galleries, just in case you're in the market for some mods.
Essentially, the Performance Garage Concept and the Performance V8 Concept are the same car - the only difference is that the later features a whole host of aesthetic tweaks in addition to its aftermarket, shorty exhaust headers and 2.75-inch exhaust. (The Performance Garage Concept has been usefully placed on its side; the better to see the new parts added to the vehicle.) The Performance V6 Concept is notable because, despite being a V6, there's no shortage of performance goodies fitted. All three of the Performance Camaros benefit from items from the Camaro ZL1, which can also be ordered through the catalog.
Artist imagines eerie world where cars have no wheels
Thu, 24 Jan 2013The wheel ranks right up there with the telescope and four-slice toaster in the pantheon of inventions that have moved humankind forward. But what if a circle in three dimensions had never occurred to anyone, and we all had just moved on without it? Perhaps we'd be driving around in Lucas Motors Landspeeders with anti-gravity engines. Or maybe we'd have the same cars we do today, just without wheels.
That's the thought experiment that seems to have led French photographer Renaud Marion to create his six-image series called Air Drive. The shots depict cars throughout many eras of motoring that look normal except for one thing: they have no wheels. The models used include a Jaguar XK120, Cadillac DeVille (shown above), Chevrolet El Camino and Camaro, and Mercedes-Benz SL and 300 roadsters.
Perhaps one day when our future becomes our past, you'll be able to walk the street and see with your own eyes the rust and patina of age on our nation's fleet of floating cars. Until then, Monsieur Marion's photographs will have to do.
