1957 Chevy 210 4door Sedan on 2040-cars
Byram, Mississippi, United States
Have for a 1957 Chevy 210 4 door sedan. Original, unrestored condition, previous owner had painted exterior. Looks very good for unrestored vehicle. Ready to drive as is or great candidate for restoration. I have seen and owned many older cars. Most all have rust problems that complicate the restoration. This car is remarkably solid and is a pleasure to drive. A true Southern car that doesn't know what road salt is.
Body - Excellent condition, no rust or dents. Minor repair spot on passenger door. Side and rear glass good. Windshield has 3 stone pecks but no cracks. Floor pans, rockers and quarter panels in good shape. Missing Chevy emblem from front bumper. Truck: Floor is in great condition. Rust holes in bottom of spare tire well, not a surprise. Have spare tire. Truck key lock missing. Engine: Originally came with 283c.i. six, was replaced by previous owner with 327 c.i. V8. 4 barrel carb. Runs strong, will get up and move. Transmission: 3-speed manual on the column. Shifts easily, no problems with clutch. Interior: Good but used condition. One small tear in seat, driver side and one in passenger door. see pictures. Dash repainted and in good condition. Has factory cover plate for radio mount spot. Headliner serviceable but shows wear. Missing rubber pad for clutch pedal. Heating duct loose and needs remounting. Instruments: All there and in good. but old condition. Temperature, Oil pressure and gas gauge work properly. Speedometer doesn't work. Stopped at 87,032.6 miles, but i have no idea when or what actual mileage would be. Style 57-1019 Body No S30523 Trim 654 Paint 793A Built May, 1957 at St. Louis Plant |

Diesel Power finds the ultimate modified oil-burner
Sat, 24 Aug 2013For nine years, Diesel Power magazine has run the Diesel Power Challenge, this year's grindfest being "a week-long torture test that features seven events, nine trucks, 8,000 horsepower, and nearly 15,000 pound-feet of torque." The road to being crowned "the most powerful truck" starts with a dyno run, and then continues through the completion of a CDL-style obstacle course, an eighth-of-a-mile drag race while towing a 10,000-pound trailer, a quarter-mile drag race without a trailer, a fuel economy test in the mountains and finally a sled-pulling test through a 300-foot-long packed-mud pit.
What kind of trucks get into such a fight? Last year's winner, for instance - who upgraded his truck this year to prove he didn't "luck into the win" - drives a 2008 Ford F-250 Super Duty with a 6.4-liter Power Stroke V8 upgraded with a custom intake, Elite Diesel triple turbos and a two-stage nitrous system. Another competitor has a 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 powered by a 5.9-liter Cummins inline-six, upgraded with Garrett turbos, dual-stage nitrous, a seven-inch exhaust stack and twin fans built into the bed to cool the Sun Coast Omega transmission. The numbers on that truck: 1,255 horsepower, and 2,063 pound-feet of torque at the wheels. Naturally, as the image above might suggest, things don't always end well.
You'll find all five videos covering this years challenge below. A scene in the dyno video sums it all up perfectly: a competitor leaves his nitrous on too long and the crew is treated to some ominous poppings, he leans out the window, throws both hands up and shouts, "Amer'ca!"
Man surprises girlfriend with C7 Corvette
Mon, 07 Oct 2013How would you react if someone just showed up at your place of work with a new, 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, complete with all the trimmings? While a lot of us would likely be flipping out over the still rare sports car, it's a fair bet many more of us would be responding like Pattie here, whose boyfriend stopped by her work to show her her new C7.
Speechless and shocked as she seems, she does end up taking it out for a drive, despite claiming she wasn't really outfitted to handle the car's seven-speed manual transmission at the time. From the sound of the video, we got the impression that she knew the car was coming, just not that it was anywhere near ready for delivery. It also, as Pattie says, seems like her boyfriend is more excited about the car than she (which, can we blame him?). Take a look down below for the full video of this C7 Stingray delivery.
GM recalls full-size truck, SUVs and vans over faulty shifter mechanism
Mon, 07 Jan 2013Twelve different General Motors vehicles from the 2013 model year, up to 54,686 units in total, are being recalled over two potential issues with their steering columns. The models in question, all full-size trucks, SUVs or vans, are the: Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV, Escalade EXT, Chevrolet Avalanche, Express, Silverado, Suburban, Tahoe, and GMC Savana, Sierra, Yukon and Yukon XL.
The affected vehicles were built with a fractured parking lock cable or "a malformed steering column lock actuator gear in the lock module assembly." As a consequence, they could shift out of park without the brake pedal being applied or with the key removed or in the off position.
A bulletin from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration indicates that the recall should begin on January 17. GM will notify owners, at which time they can take their vehicles to their dealers for repair free of charge. Have a look at the bulletin below for more information.
