HERE IS A DROP DEAD GORGEOUS LOOKING 1957 CHEVROLET BEL AIR 2 DOOR POST SEDAN. LOTS OF RECENT RESTORATION WORK DONE AND BEAUTIFUL COLOR COMBINATION!

Please e-mail me with questions or to set up an inspection to see the car in person. AUCTION MAY BE STOPPED AT ANY TIME.

Note: wheels/tires pictured do NOT come with the car, but can be purchased separately if desired.

Vehicle came out of upstate NY. Previous owner has had this car since 1965 within the same family. Started life out as a RARE 150 model as you can tell by the "A" in the VIN number, and has since been transformed into a Bel Air tribute with added trim. This was an old family car that has recently been restored throughout and made into a beautiful restomod as you can see in the pictures and video. Restoration was body-on and was done within the last few years, including complete paint/bodywork in base/clear 2 stage PPG type paint, NEW interior (seat covers, carpet, headliner, door panels, etc.), NEW exhaust/mufflers, NEW weatherstripping throughout, NEW wheels/tires, NEWLY rebuilt motor, NEWLY rebuilt transmission, NEWLY overhauled brake system, NEWLY flushed fuel system. LOTS of NEW trim throughout. All NEW smoked glass throughout. TONS MORE.

Body is VERY STRAIGHT with excellent original gaps. Doors open and close nicely. Body does NOT appear to ever have been in any major collision.

OPTIONS:

Manual steering

Power DISC front brakes

Dual exhaust

350ci 4bbl. POWER PACK V8 motor

Manual 4 speed transmission

Bench seat interior

10 bolt rear end with 3.55 gears

2" drop spindles

Mildly custom "smoked" glass (ALL NEW)

Under the hood lies a mildly massaged 350ci motor (bored 0.030 over to 355ci) with a few bolt-on performance goodies such as aluminum intake manifold, Edelbrock 4bbl. carburetor, full headers into dual exhaust, mild performance camshaft and a few other internal mods, along with 2" drop spindles to give it a more restomodded stance. Overall it's a nice and healthy motor that fires right up, has good oil pressure and sounds great. Had it completely checked out by my mechanic and is ready to drive (I've been using it twice a month for short trips around town).  Mechanically it fires right up and sounds great along with the nice and throaty exhaust system. Transmission is solid and shifts great without any noises or grinding.

Interior is basically all stock and NEARLY BRAND NEWDoor panels are NEW. Dash is very nice and painted. Seats have BRAND NEW covers on them. Carpet is NEW as well. NEW headliner as well. Stock steering wheel in fair shape. Overall nicely presentable for a high end driver.

Underside has a ROCK SOLID frame with NO rot or major rust anywhere. Floorboards are excellent with NO holes anywhere that I was able to see. Even the side frame braces, that usually rust out on these cars are in EXCELLENT shape. VERY NICE trunk pan as well.

As you can see the front and rear chrome has been painted to give the vehicle a mildly custom appearance, which can be turned easily back to stock with chrome parts if new owner desires.

The old girl is NOT perfect by any means of course so please keep that in mind when bidding. Paint is in VERY GOOD to EXCELLENT shape throughout, with NICE shine and looks great but it is not absolutely show quality, so please keep in mind that it will have some very minor imperfections here and there. Panel fit is very good, but again not absolutely perfect to be a show winner and could use tiny adjustments here and there. Not working: clock, radio, perhaps a dash gauge not connected, and a bulb or two may need replacing here and there. Transmission shifts great, but new rubber shifter boot sometimes makes it pop out of 1st gear since the rubber is so tight. Brakes are NEW so they are a little sensitive. I am sure there are many other things the car needs.

So overall she is not perfect but she's a DAMN NICE and FUN RESTOMOD CRUISER!. Please note, I cannot remember every single issue with the car, nor do I know everything wrong with it, as it is after all over 50 years old so keep that in mind.

If you just want a GREAT LOOKING DRIVER to play around with, then this is the car for you. If you want a 100 point concourse show car, it will need some work to bring it up to that level of course. I ENCOURAGE ANYONE BIDDING OR SERIOUSLY INTERESTED TO COME LOOK AT IT IN PERSON. I WILL BE GLAD TO SHOW IT TO YOU TOP TO BOTTOM SO YOU KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU'RE GETTING INTO.

Why does the Corvette Stingray have so many vents? Here's why

Sun, 27 Jan 2013

Just looking at the new 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, it's not hard to see that the car's design was created with aerodynamics at the forefront, but Chevrolet designers point out exactly what went into designing the iconic coupe in a pair of recently released videos. The videos show the Corvette going through early design phases, including clay models and wind tunnel tests, as well as talking to the car's chief engineer, Tadge Juechter.
Both videos help explain various aspects of the C7 Corvette, but it's the aero tuning of the car that is most interesting. This includes extra attention paid to the lower air dam and vented hood to help reduce drag and lift, while the rear quarter inlets are for differential and transmission cooling. Juechter said that some of these aero-tuned elements were inspired from GM's involvement in racing.
If you have about five minutes and you can't get enough information about the new 'Vette, then check out the videos posted below.

"Turbo" Chevrolet Camaro is a 700-HP fantasy car come to life [w/video]

Thu, 07 Feb 2013

For a concept car built to promote an animated movie about a snail that wants to go racing, this thing ain't half bad. The outsized monster you see before you started life as a Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, and then went through a big-time Hollywood makeover before being positioned on the Chevrolet stand here in Chicago.
This 2013 "Turbo" Camaro Coupe is getting the promotion machine ratcheted up for a new DreamWorks tale by the name of, you guessed it, Turbo. Coming this summer, the movie will follow one snail's quest to become a race driver worthy of making the cut at the Indy 500. Like many DreamWorks vehicles before it, we're guessing that the petrolhead snail will star in a movie that adults (especially racing fans) with have no trouble watching with their kids. Check out the trailer below to see if you agree.
As for the car, we're told that it is "instrumental" in transforming Turbo from snail into racer. Helping the beastly pony car in this mighty task, is an ankle-cracking front splitter matched by a ungodly huge rear wing out back, a COPO hood and a supercharged (yes, supercharged) V8 engine making more than 700 horsepower. 24-inch wheels all the way around - 10-inches wide in front and 15-inches wide in back - should allow the "Turbo" Camaro to hook up with ease, as well.

GM looks to combat high theft rates on SUVs with added tech

Tue, 24 Dec 2013

The Cadillac Escalade has been at or near the top of most-stolen and insurance-loss lists for more than seven years, until it dropped to number six earlier this year. In 2011 it was fitted with a host of new security features to address its easy-to-override features and that has brought the number of thefts down, but when eight of the ten most stolen rides are large SUVs from General Motors, no one will argue that something else needs to be done.
Thus, GM has fitted this same theft-deterring tech to the 2015 Suburban, Tahoe and Yukon. The Suburban and Tahoe will get the steering lock that the Escalade and Yukon already get, plus bolted-down third-row seats to deter thefts like this, stronger door lock cylinders and shields, and side-cut keys to inhibit picking.
Additional security measures in a Theft Protection Package can be purchased for $395, consisting of sensors on the greenhouse glass and interior, an incline/tilt sensor and added "key control systems" to make it more difficult for the men in black balaclavas to steal what you bought.
