New seals and gaskets on rear axle, 3.36 open differential..a set of 4.11 gears and a posi unit come with car. New leaf springs
Engine is a 76 Impala 350, since that was the height of the smog years,, the compression ratio was only 8.5:1, so I reworked a set of 305 heads with better valves and valve springs, raisng the compression to about 10:1..it runs fine on regular, but I use premium. Has an Edelbrock Performer RPM manifold, Carter AFB, Accel distributor and MSD 6AL box..stock exhaust manifolds with glass packs and dual exhaust
Cam is a Crane 452 lift, 272 duration with roller tip rockers
Installed a new 3/8" fuel pickup and new 3/8 line from tank to fuel pump, -6 braided line from there to carb
Trans is a 58 or newer 3 speed synchro with overdrive...OD works great! Shifter is on the column
Raingear wipers
Old Air air conditioning/heater/defrost
AM/FM/Cassette w/new front speaker, I ran the wires for rear speakers, but haven't installed them, yet.
Coated the floor with Por15 before installing heat/soundproofing and new carpet
Replaced the cloth on the seats and door panels, vinyl was OK, so I re-used it
Door and Weather stripping is new, rebuilt vent windows
New wiring from dash to taillights
5 new tires
I'm to the point of doing the body work and painting it, but I know that will take it off the market for six months, so I'm offering it before I start that work.

Needs inner/outer rocker panels and some of the floor braces replaced

GM 6.2L V8 claims most powerful light-duty truck engine title

Thu, 12 Sep 2013

General Motors has officially captured the horsepower crown for mainstream pickup trucks with its 6.2-liter V8. The big mill, available in both the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra, comes to market with 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, handily outdoing its two cross-town competitors, Ram (5.7-liter V8, 395 ponies and 407 lb-ft) and Ford (6.2-liter V8, 411 hp and 434 lb-ft).
The new GM 6.2 will take a bit of an investment, though. Those that want the extra thrust will need to go with either the LTZ or High Country trims from the Chevy, or the SLT and Denali trims from GMC, which are the two highest trim levels for the respective vehicles. Trim levels aside, if you're in the business of towing, GM has you covered. Optioned with the 6.2-liter V8 and the Max Trailering Package, owners will be able to pull 12,000 pounds, a hugely impressive figure.
We still aren't certain as to what sort of economy the new engine will get, but it'll probably be a bad bet for the fuel conscious. As for availability, expect to see the 6.2-liter trucks in showrooms later in the fall.

Camaro spy shots show subtly different grille, front fascia

Sun, 03 Feb 2013

It looks like there some changes in store for the Chevrolet Camaro - the only thing is that we just don't know what Chevy has up its sleeve. Looking at these spy shots, we'd initially be inclined to think that there is just a minor facelift or a new special edition, but upon closer inspection, there are a few oddities about this car that definitely have us intrigued.
The most obvious difference on this prototype is the slightly restyled front fascia with a smaller lower air inlet and the two-bar grille. Then we get to some of the car's mysterious details. For starters, this fascia has the SS vent above the grille, but it looks to be blocked off. Granted this could just be a one-off piece used for testing. What really piqued our interest was at the rear of the car where it has quad exhaust outlets that are used on the ZL1. Could this be the LS7-powered Camaro that we reported on back in December?
At this point, your guess is as good as ours as to what we're looking at here, so let us know in the comments what you think this could be.

Chevrolet Camaros at SEMA are a mobile accessory catalog

Wed, 06 Nov 2013

Chevy's goal at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas this week seems to be to show as much of its Performance and Accessories catalog as possible. That's why it brought three different Camaros - two with V8s and one powered by a V6 - with all of the best goodies from the catalog already fitted.
We gave a more in-depth recap of the Performance Camaro V8 Concept, the Performance Camaro V6 Concept and the Performance Garage Concept already, but we figured you'd like a short recap for each. It should be noted, though, that you can order all of the items you see here for your own Camaro, so be sure to take a long, hard look at our live galleries, just in case you're in the market for some mods.
Essentially, the Performance Garage Concept and the Performance V8 Concept are the same car - the only difference is that the later features a whole host of aesthetic tweaks in addition to its aftermarket, shorty exhaust headers and 2.75-inch exhaust. (The Performance Garage Concept has been usefully placed on its side; the better to see the new parts added to the vehicle.) The Performance V6 Concept is notable because, despite being a V6, there's no shortage of performance goodies fitted. All three of the Performance Camaros benefit from items from the Camaro ZL1, which can also be ordered through the catalog.
