Here we have a very rare and original "untouched" looking 1964 Chevrolet Biscayne 2 door sedan. I won this car on Ebay in 2005. At that time, it had the original straight six with a power glide transmission. It ran great that way but just for fun, in 2008 I replaced the engine with a 350 High-Output Deluxe 330 HP Crate Engine 350 Turbo Trans I had installed in my 1963 Chevy Biscayne. This crate motor was purchased and professionally installed in June, 2002 and since that time was and still is not a daily driver.

Unfortunately, I lost track of the actual mileage on this engine as it went from my 63' to the 64' but I can tell you this car was rarely driven. When it was, it was only driven to run errands around town. This thing runs like new, even if it is 11 years old. If I had to guess the actual mileage on this engine, I would say it was around 3,00 to 5,00 miles due to the fact that it was only driven a few times a month for 11 years. The mileage of 38,439 is original to this 1964 but just not the motor.

Other parts that were transferred/ installed on this car include: ABS disc brake conversion kit on front, sway bar, heavy duty springs (since it went from a 6 cyl to a V8), 2 1/4" dual exhaust (sounds really nice), customized vintage valve covers with breather tubes to look like a vintage stock car, V8 fan shroud, and new shocks.

There's even a tastefully hidden Alpine CD player hidden up inside the dash. It has a remote as well as a hidden XM radio controller that us hidden in the 60's style Chevy Kleenix box holder. This car still has the original radio delete plate. Looks like a real sleeper or like grandmas grocery getter. I can provide the original invoice with a list of parts as well as the original booklet for the 350 Crate motor to the winner.

As you can see by the pictures the body is very straight and clean. There are no major dings or rust through. The floor panels are fine. There are a couple spots in the trunk (see pics) where the rust has gone through. Someone at some point tried to patch it with a nice metal patch. The rust at the bottom of the trunk is just surface rust that will come off with a wire brush. The car was paint at some point before I won it but it originally was the same kind of deep metallic red/maroon color. I think the original color was a tad darker. You Chevy guys will know for sure....

The headliner is perfect with no tears or rust. The door panels looks amazing with not warpage. The carpet is nice and appears to be ordered that was as Biscaynes came with rubber mats. The only parts that need replacing are the striped cloth inserts. I have the original dead stock replacement fabric from SMS that I will include with the car for the lucky winner. I'lll be adding interior pictures in the next day or so, so please cehck back if you will.

This car is a very nice example of a car you don't see everyday. It was a very low mileage car when I won it and I have tried to keep it looking that way out of respect to the original designers and era it came from. Note the neat looking bias ply tires and dog dish hubcaps that complete the look. This car would be fun as is or could be made into a gasser or 409 clone with little work. I believe I read some where that in 1964 there was a strike at GM and there weren't very many of these made. This one never got sacrificed for an impala or left out to rust away in a field somewhere with a tree growing through it.

Thank you for looking at my auction. Good luck and please message me with any questions you might have. I will need a deposit from the winning bidder.

2014 Chevy Silverado, GMC Sierra full configurators truck in

Sat, 15 Jun 2013

You can now put prices to your wildest option-sheet dreams of the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra. A microsite for the full-size pickup truck twins has been up since January, and now the full-blown configurator is live and ready to take your virtual orders. The only two chassis configurations available at the moment are the Crew Cab with either a short or standard bed - Regular and Double Cab versions will come later. In Silverado flavors that will run you $32,710 for the short box, $33,010 for the standard box, while the Sierra adds a $1,500 premium to both of those prices, and destination and handling for both models adds another $995.
Since these are American pickups the list of modifications is lengthy, but we added $11,450 in just two steps by starting with the Silverado Crew Cab and standard bed, then checking four-wheel drive and the LTZ Z71 package. Our final truck, resplendent in Brownstone Metallic paint, heated and cooled Cocoa/Dune perforated leather seating and tasty details like chrome recovery hooks, and engine block heater and LED cargo box lighting, rang up $57,285 at the candy store.
They'll be on dealer lots sometime this summer, so now's a good time to start practicing your box-checking.

Corvette Stingray Shooting Brake under consideration by Callaway [w/poll]

Mon, 18 Mar 2013

Callaway has released a few renderings of a design study for a shooting brake version of the C7 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray. The company says it wants to create a long-roof version of America's sports car to offer buyers more interior room and a vehicle with "unique style." The company says it will use structural carbon fiber for the new body bits, which suggests the conversion shouldn't add too much more weight to the Corvette. Along with a few mechanical tweaks, the Callaway Corvette Stingray AeroWagon could breeze past the 200 miles per hour barrier.
Provided that they get enough interest, Callaway estimates they will be able to effect the changes on the Chevrolet for around $15,000, and says the conversion work should be available through its network of dealers. You can check out the brief press release below for more information, or head over to the Callaway site to plunk down a deposit - but before you do, we want to know... do you find this C7 wagon interesting? Vote in our poll below, then feel free to leave a few lines in Comments.

Consumer Reports criticizes small turbo engines for misleading performance, fuel economy claims [w/video]

Tue, 05 Feb 2013

Consumer Reports has taken aim at at small-displacement, forced-induction engines, saying the powerplants don't manage to deliver on automaker fuel economy claims. Manufacturers have long held that smaller, turbocharged engines pack all power of their larger displacement cousins with significantly better fuel economy, but the research organization says that despite scoring high EPA economy numbers, the engines are no better than conventional drivetrains in both categories. Jake Fisher, director of automotive testing for Consumer Reports, says the forced induction options "are often slower and less fuel efficient than larger four and six-cylinder engines."
Specifically, CR calls out the new Ford Fusion equipped with the automaker's Ecoboost 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine. The institute's researchers found the engine, which is a $795 option over the base 2.5-liter four-cylinder, fails to match competitors in acceleration and served up 25 miles per gallon in testing, putting the sedan dead last among other midsize options.
The Chevrolet Cruze, Hyundai Sonata Turbo and Ford Escape 2.0T all got dinged for the same troubles, though Consumer Reports has found the turbo 2.0-liter four-cylinder in the BMW 328i does deliver on its promises. You can check out the full press release below. You can also read the full study on the Consumer Reports site, or scroll down for a short video recap.
