Up for sale is my '72 4x4 Chevy Blazer.

To me, she's beautiful.

This truck is special because the top is removable, and you have nothing but windshield. What you see currently on it is a chopped top to provide minimal cover to the driver.

This is a classic model. It could be restored to showroom condition- with a whole lot of work, -or it could be left like it is and used as a truck to beat around.
This particular body style was only made for 4 years: 1968-1972. Parts are generally homogenous across all years of this body style.

This is a useful truck if you have muddy and/or rough places to go. I used it to play around at the lake and in the woods.
All critical operating items are in working order. It cranks, runs, and drives.
It starts without issue.
I put a new battery and alternator in 2009.
I also had a new power steering gearbox put on in 2009, concurrent with servicing the brakes.
4x4 works.
Transmission shifts without issue.
It has a rebuilt 350. I do not know the specifics about the rebuild, who rebuilt it, nor the origins of the motor. However, it runs awesome.
2 tires are new as of Oct. 2011. The other two are slightly dry rotted and leak air to the extent that I have to add air to the tires once a month.
Included but not attached is the original headache rack.
The truck passes local inspection. I had it inspected about a year ago. It is currently registered, but needing inspection.

The bad:
Currently, the truck is in rough condition.
The doors are rough. I have them held shut with bungee cords.
The windows do not roll down.
There is some rust. There are a few spots around the outer edges of the windshield, a spot on the firewall, and some under-body rust. Kick panels are rusted out. The bed has had a spray-in bed liner, but not the cab.
To be simple, the truck needs a paint job SOON.
The seats are shot.
Front driver side fender is dented. I have an OEM pre-painted white replacement, which will go with the truck.

There are lots of little things going on with this truck that warrant attention. It is a 40+ year old truck. I hate to admit it, but I'm sure there are things I've missed (or learned to live with and forgotten about.) Please don't hold it against me. I've done the best I could.

Original setup included radio, heater, and air conditioner. None of this is currently present. However, the setup is there and these items could be installed.

The good thing I find about these trucks is that parts are readily available. I have not fixed all of the small things, because I didn't need it for anything other than in the woods and around the lake. I have had no problem finding any of the little parts needed to fix annoying things like wobbly headlights.....

I would drive this truck anywhere. However, it is an extremely rough ride. Anything more than a few miles down the rd (I drive it 15 mi to my camp on the lake occasionally) I would recommend trailering it. Not to mention there is an extra hard top that goes with the truck.

The odometer reads some 41,000 miles. I have no idea nor any way of finding out if it has rolled over.
I am selling it, because I don't use it any more.
Item is located in Lufkin TX near Loop 287 and HWY 59 S.
I have a clear TX title in my name.

Buyer is responsible for pick up. Local pick up only.
Seller makes no warranties expressed nor implied.

2013 Chevy COPO Camaro announced with two new engines and manual option

Thu, 07 Mar 2013

Chevrolet is following up the 2012 COPO Camaro with another limited run of the drag-strip-ready production car for 2013. Ditching the superchargers, the 2013 COPO Camaro can only be equipped with one of three naturally aspirated V8 engines, and other new features include the option of a manual transmission, new front springs, some minor styling changes and a lower starting price of $86,000. All cars are designed to abide by the rules of the NHRA's Stock Eliminator or Super Stock classifications, depending on in which series buyers wish to enter their Chevrolet Camaro.
Returning for 2013 is the 427-cubic-inch V8 producing 425 horsepower, but the new engines include a 325-hp 350-CID V8 and a 375-hp 396-CID V8. Buyers can select to purchase all three engines, and each will be matched with the sequence number of that car; the track-only COPO cars will not have vehicle identification numbers and can't be registered for street use.
Chevrolet is also offering unique enthusiast-specific options such as a COPO Build Book and the opportunity for owners to help assemble their car's engine at the Chevrolet Performance Build Center in Wixom, MI.

Dodge vs. Chevy tug-of-war taken to the extreme

Mon, 17 Dec 2012

They say "idle hands are the devil's playground," but said playgrounds grow to Disney-sized proportions when a pair of jacked-up trucks, two egos, a chain and an empty mall parking lot are involved. Proof of this is the video below, which shows a Cummins-powered Dodge Ram circa 2006 to 2008 chained tail-to-tail with what looks to be a gasoline-powered Chevrolet Silverado from the late 1990s or early 2000s.
We don't necessarily have to tell you who wins this battle, but we'll let you see for yourself the lengths the "winning" driver goes to prove his point. There's plenty of foul language in the video below, so beware that this might be Not Safe For Work, and not that we should have to tell you, but please, do not try this at home.

Why the Corvette is Chevrolet's billion-dollar baby

Thu, 28 Feb 2013

Edmunds has worked up a piece that tries to figure out just how much the global Chevrolet Corvette economy is worth, a spitballed guesstimate putting the number at more than $2.5 billion with the proviso that the number is probably low. It starts by taking Corvette's new car sales of 14,132 units last year, which would equate to $714,725,900 (including destination) assuming ever car sold was a base coupe with no options. In the final tally, a little extra padding gets that number up to $750,000,000.
But that's not all. Consider this: Many of the almost 1.4 million Corvettes produced over the model's history are still on the road. There are new parts being produced and aftermarket companies like Mid-America Motorworks deaing business, that single Illinois company doing more than $40 million a year in sales. There are the Corvette events large and small, restorers who do nothing but Corvettes, salvage yards that deal only in used Corvette parts and the Corvette magazines where owners find all this stuff.
And then there are the Corvette-themed tchotchkes, every single one of which provides a tiny contribution to the huge licensing royalties that General Motors collects every year. The article admits there's no way to come to an accurate number, but it just goes to show how valuable one specific model can be to a company.
