Used 2000 Chevy Blazer. Both body and 4.3 V6 engine have 90,500 miles. Couple known problems are:

  • The fuel gauge does not work properly so I would just fill up every 200 miles. I do not think this is a major problem so I never think of fixing it. It might be the sensor that goes in the tank or something else need to be replaced which wont take much of $$$ to get it repaired
  • Power door lock on passenger side does not work
  • Washer fluid tank is leaking somewhere, cant hold much of the liquid, probably only half the tank
  • Coating on the hood is peeling off, for someone with car body paint skill, this is an easy job to fix
  • Scratches on the front and rear bumpers, again a minor job for somebody who has time and a bit skill in car body painting
Those are known problems that I am aware of. AC is ice cold and Heater is working as it should. All wheels had new rotors and brake pads not long ago. The car is in good mechanical condition, never have any problem mechanically. Driving back and forth long distance to Virginia, Florida, Ilinois, Ontario, Canada without any problem at all. I know this car is not much of look, this is an utilitarian vehicle, functional vehicle to drive to school, to work back and forth. and that is the reason when I had this car to begin with. Economy is tough and I still have another car to run my errands.  I have owned this vehicle since December 2010 and it has been a great one. It still has many, many years left on it.  Ask any questions you may have. Buyer to pay in full with cash and pick up within 7 days of auction ending. No shipping unless buyer arranges everything involved.

Experimental mid-engine XP-819 Corvette going up for auction

Sun, 17 Feb 2013

It seems to be commonplace that when a new Corvette is in development, rumors swirl about a possible mid-engine layout. As is the case of Chevy's most recent C7 Corvette, these rumors never pan out.
In any case, the idea for a 'Vette with an engine mounted behind the driver can probably all be traced back to a single car, the 1964 XP-819 prototype. Built as an "engineering exercise" back in 1964, the prototype was designed with a rear-mounted engine. History tells us that the idea of a rear-engine Corvette fizzled, and the XP-819 was eventually cut up into pieces and stored at a shop in Daytona Beach, FL.
After sitting for untold years, a restoration project started on the car, and while it isn't yet fully completed, the current owner of the car, Mid America Motorworks, will have the car on display at the 2013 Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance as a "driveable chassis" with hopes of having a fully completed car ready to bring to next year's show.

Chevy Corvette gets Valet Mode with Performance Data Recorder [w/video]

Mon, 18 Aug 2014

For the 2015-model-year, Chevrolet introduces Valet Mode for the Corvette, an enhancement to the Performance Data Recorder (PDR) already available and to your peace of mind. The PDR already captures 720p HD video with a windshield-mounted camera, records interior audio with a cabin microphone and gathers telemetry data using GPS, saving the data to an SD card in the glovebox. You can then watch your track-day antics with various information overlays on the center console screen.
Valet Mode will let you hit 'Replay' when your car gets pulled up front smelling vaguely of fricasseed clutch. Turned on by entering a four-digit code, it also locks the interior storage spaces and turns off the infotainment system. It can't be turned off until the code is re-entered. There's a press release below with more information as well as a video that explains how it works, with the obligatory dig at the 'Vette's biggest foe.
