1984 Chevy Military M1009 K5 6.2L DIESEL Extremely low original miles 15,535 listed on this 6 digit odometer. Many off these trucks sat at guard posts and were used on base. Sturdy Turbo 400 transmission with Auburn Limited slip in the rear end, 3" lift with original flat springs. Procomp shocks with 32" tires on the original black steel wheels. Full spare and matching wheel. Has radio and CB mounted to the inside of the roof with strong magnets, can be easily relocated. Speakers in Dash replaced and Cradle with AUX jack installed. Insulated Rubber Floor for protection and noise reduction, center bench seat added from 2000's era truck with seatbelt. Seats are all original, foam and shape is great, seat bottoms need re-upholstery. Rear fold up seat and M-16 riffle holder behind driver seat still in tact. Rear window is electric operating from the gate with the key and from the drivers side dash with a switch. I also have the fiberglass top matching white exterior with all the fasteners. This is a great truck to keep as is with some light work to the interior, or add larger lift. The drivers door needs new pins to align correctly, horn needs a little trouble shooting. Engine runs excellent, still on 24V starting system, 12v for accessories and starts incredibly fast. 2 large marine batteries with under hood cut-off for storage. screw on filter added, the original filter assembly is included. Great running truck with good fuel economy near 20mpg.

Silverado HD, Touareg V10 TDI face off in diesel tug-of-war

A couple weeks ago, we watched a Chevrolet Silverado get dominated by a Dodge Ram Heavy Duty in a fullsize pickup tug-of-war, but in that truck's defense, Chevy's Vortec gas engine was no match for the torquey Cummins turbo diesel. For our next round of vehicular tug-of-war, a Duramax-powered Silverado HD takes on Volkswagen Touareg V10 TDI.
Now, on paper, putting the Duramax V8's 365 horsepower and 660 pound-feet of torque up against the V10's 310 hp and 553 lb-ft looks like an easy win for the Bowtie, but unfortunately, this battle has a similar result as the Dodge versus Chevy video, with the Silverado smoking its tires trying to move forward as it gets pulled backwards. Put another way: YouTube 2, Chevy Silverado 0.
It just goes to show, though, that big tires, bolt-on fender flares and goofy smoke stacks don't improve your towing abilities. Besides, what did the Silverado driver expect when the Touareg V10 TDI has towed a Boeing 747 in the past?

Official USPS Muscle Cars stamps coming to a mailbox near you

As much as our digital lives have cut down on our trips to the post office, there are still times that sending "snail mail" is necessary. With us car lovers in mind and philately in their hearts, the good folks at the United States Postal Service will introduce a new stamp design called "Muscle Cars" starting on February 22.
Designed by artist Tom Fritz, the new collection of stamps consist of five classic muscle cars: 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona, 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS, 1967 Shelby GT-500, 1966 Pontiac GTO and 1970 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda. In addition to just the stamps, the USPS is also commemorating the new series with plenty of collectable memorabilia. Previous car-related stamps include 50s Sporty Cars from 2005 and 50s Fins and Chrome from 2008.

GM recalling 426,000 sedans over faulty transmission shift cable

General Motors is recalling some 426,240 sedans that may have a faulty transmission shift cable, according to a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration report this morning. The recall concerns a fault within four-speed automatic transmissions equipped on 2007-2010 Saturn Aura models, and 2008-2010 Chevrolet Malibu and Pontiac G6 models.
The report specifies that tabs on the transmission shift cable may fracture and separate. Such a fault could cause a discrepancy between the actual position of the transmission and the apparent position of the shift lever.
GM is currently working to notify owners of the vehicles in question, and dealers will check and replace shift cables free of charge. Scroll down to read the complete NHTSA report.
