Up for sale is my 1969 GMC Custom Short Bed. It has about 580 miles since frame-off restoration. I built it to look like it was just pulled off the farm and added a new school touch to it!

A few things I've done to it include:

- Bed shortened to factory specs (no warping or overlapping of panels)
- Custom made back half of frame, using Slam Specialties RE-7 Air Bags with a schrader valve setup, easy to adjust. (no compressors or anything, just went air instead of coils)
- Z'ed frame 2.5" up front
- Stake Bed pockets shaved
- Gas tank hole shaved
- Fuel cell in bed
- 2001 Volvo tan leather seats, driver is heated/ adjustable and has lumbar support
- Front tilt hood
- Raised wheel wells in bed
- Custom made inner fenders
- Custom made double air breather (car style)
- Painted Frame, Radiator support and Engine
- Engine completely gone through and runs PERFECT!

The body has a fantastic patina and its not perfect by any means, but it shows all of the work that has been put in, its not all hidden like others, also has more character than 99% of the vehicles out there! She was built to be driven and to call it a head turner is an understatement, its literally a JAW DROPPER! The pictures dont even do it justice!
Set at a low reserve, I can set up shipping but IT WILL BE AT BUYERS EXPENSE (obviously)
Thanks for looking!

GM recalls full-size truck, SUVs and vans over faulty shifter mechanism

Mon, 07 Jan 2013

Twelve different General Motors vehicles from the 2013 model year, up to 54,686 units in total, are being recalled over two potential issues with their steering columns. The models in question, all full-size trucks, SUVs or vans, are the: Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV, Escalade EXT, Chevrolet Avalanche, Express, Silverado, Suburban, Tahoe, and GMC Savana, Sierra, Yukon and Yukon XL.
The affected vehicles were built with a fractured parking lock cable or "a malformed steering column lock actuator gear in the lock module assembly." As a consequence, they could shift out of park without the brake pedal being applied or with the key removed or in the off position.
A bulletin from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration indicates that the recall should begin on January 17. GM will notify owners, at which time they can take their vehicles to their dealers for repair free of charge. Have a look at the bulletin below for more information.

Watch this creative way to pull a truck's engine

Fri, 08 Mar 2013

Living in an apartment complex has its benefits, but for shade-tree mechanics who like/need to work on their own cars, it definitely has a number of disadvantages. Relatively simple tasks such as brake jobs and oil changes are difficult when you don't have dedicated driveway space, to say nothing of more in-depth repairs... like pulling an engine, for example.
For these types of challenges, a little ingenuity and plenty of muscle are needed to get the job done. Scroll down to watch these four men snatch the V8 out of a Chevrolet K1500 using nothing but a chain, landscape timber and good ol' fashioned brute strength. Good work, gentlemen.
