1971 Chevy Rare "longhorn" 400 Big Block Pick Up Truck on 2040-cars
Park Ridge, Illinois, United States
1971 RARE "Longhorn" pick up truck for sale. Produced from '68-'72. This is a C-30 1 ton version of the longhorn. They came in 3/4 ton and 1 ton versions. They made only 2,935 1 ton Longhorns in 1971 and this one has the 400 BIG BLOCK motor. All had the wooden floor of the bed. This was a California truck and comes with the original warranty protecto-plate and owners manual. This is a great combination truck, with documentation and VERY fast. It was restored and painted 21 years ago and driven daily but never in the winter for 15 years, then parked in a garage for the past 6 years. It runs strong, has front disc brakes (needs bleeding), sounds great, automatic transmission, AC (needs compressor etc.), power steering (needs pump), needs rubber, floors and all sheet metal are in great condition (see photos), it just needs to be freshened up. Selling as is and customer must arrange for transportation. This will make a great daily driver, or ready for full restoration with very little cost. You will not find another big block driver ready to go this cheap, selling with no reserve.

Watch this time-lapse build of the Chevy SS for NASCAR
Fri, 08 Feb 2013There's only about a week left until we get our first look at the production version of the 2014 Chevrolet SS sedan, but Chevrolet NASCAR teams have been looking at the race version of the car all winter. Autoweek has posted a really neat time-lapse video showing just a portion of what it takes to build one of NASCAR's new Gen6 stock cars.
Though the video is quite brief, it does show almost the entire build process starting with just the car's nose, and it gives us a good look at how integral the template is to the final product. As a bonus, Hendrick Motorsports also provided some videos showing two of its teams performing pit stop tests over the winter. The second video shows some of the more detailed aspects of the racecar's rear end, including the stock-looking trunk cutout and a newly mandated rear bumper extension that will be used on super speedways like Daytona and Talladega.
To see what Team Chevy has been up to all off-season, check out all three videos posted after the jump.
Are you the 2014 Corvette Grand Sport?
Thu, 21 Feb 2013When are stripes more than just stripes? Follow up question: Is the product development team at Chevrolet really cocky enough to hide the next C7 Corvette variant in plain sight? This very recently spotted, and ostensibly obscured C7 asks a lot more questions than it answers, but there's at least some evidence to support that it might be the next Corvette Grand Sport.
The first and most obvious tip-off that something is up with this 'Vette revolves around those silver stripes. Obviously the stripes themselves don't necessarily denote a new model. However, when Chevy recently launched its "colorizer" website for the Stingray, there was no provision made for racing stripes - solid colors only.
Grand Sport exhibit number two is actually an incriminating lack of badges. The production Corvettes we've seen to date have all carried Stingray badges on their fenders, just behind the vent. The car seen in these images has no such badges, which is an intriguing omission on an car that looks like a production-spec vehicle otherwise.
GM recalling nearly 4,000 vehicles over airbag concerns
Thu, 31 Jan 2013Four different General Motors vehicles from the 2012 model year are being recalled over a potential airbag issue. The driver's side airbag shorting bar in the 2012 Buick Verano and 2012 Chevrolet Camaro, Cruze and Sonic might make contact with the airbag terminals, even during a crash. If so, the airbag won't deploy when it should, possibly increasing injury to the driver.
The recall is expected to begin on February 13 for the 3,896 units that might be affected. GM will notify owners who can then take their vehicles to dealers to have the airbag coil replaced. A bulletin from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration below has more info.
