Here is a 1972 Chevrolet 4X4 that I bought awhile ago to restore, but health issues (and old age) are forcing me to let some of my projects go. This truck was purchased from the original owners daughter, who had it sitting behind the barn since her dad passed away in 1982. It appears to be all original and unmolested, except for the drivers door. The story is the door got left open and caught on some farm equipment that bent it. A used one was installed, but the original is still in the back. There is some surface rust on the hood, and the rockers need replaced, but all in all, it's still a very straight and solid truck. I towed it home, dumped some fresh gas in, and it started right up. Amazing! Smells like rotten gas burning but actually runs better than it should. I drove it around the block, (very slowly), as the old bias tires are so flat on one side it about hopped off the road. They are weather checked and cracked. I cant believe they still hold air. Here I am writing a novel. Sorry. Its a 1\2 ton, six lug, 350 cu.in. four speed trans, with high range low range transfer case, and manual locking hubs. It does run and drive, but in its present condition, not very far or fast. It will definitely pull itself up on a transport. I believe it is all original, with 53k miles. It needs totally restored, and has been sitting for over 30 years. Sold as-is,where-is, but will assist your shipper, or perhaps bring it to your doorstep for an agreed on fee. C7 Corvette turbo with 1,000 horsepower promised from Hennessey
Mon, 25 Feb 2013If you can't wait for the next-generation Chevrolet Corvette ZR1, Hennessey says they will have you covered. The Texas-based company has announced it will offer a spate of upgrades for the 2014 Corvette ranging from a range of bolt-on options all the way up to a 1,000-horsepower, twin-turbo system. Buyers can start with a cold air intake, cat-back exhaust or stainless steel long-tube headers, but Hennessey says it will also offer up three stages of forced induction mayhem should those bits and baubles not provide enough thrust.
Those choices start with a supercharger system good for up to 700 hp, though Hennessey will gladly ditch the blower in favor of two turbos. Doing so will spin the crank to the tune of 800 horsepower all the way up to a certifiably ludicrous 1,000 ponies. There's no word on how much these tricks will cost you - or when they will be available, as we're guessing they haven't gotten their hands on the car yet - but you can head over to the Hennessey site to drop them a line if you're curious.
GM tinkering with Silverado, Sierra model mix amidst strong early sales
Mon, 04 Nov 2013Variety, as they say, is the spice of life. That's a lesson that is currently being taught to General Motors, because despite a strong showing from its 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra, the General's pickup sales still can't best those of cross-town rival Ford.
With 59,163 trucks moved, GM fell just over 1,000 units short of toppling Ford, and one of the main reasons for that, according to GM's chief sales analyst, was due to a lack of variety in the engines and body styles available on dealer lots. "We are still over-weighted toward crew-cab V8 trucks. Our light-duty mix will moderate over time as our launch progresses," said Kurt McNeil.
Loading dealers with the popular combination of the 5.3-liter V8 and the four-door, Crew Cab body style was intentional during the truck's launch, but as supplies of leftover 2013 models, which are being sold at heavy incentives, are beginning to wane, both budget-conscious and high-dollar buyers are looking elsewhere instead of at the volume model pickups.
GM recalling over 243,000 crossovers over possible seat belt defect

The summer of 2010's recall hit parade continues unabated today, with General Motors having just announced that it is asking 243,403 owners of its 2009-2010 Lambda crossovers to bring their three-row haulers in for inspection. The culprit? Second-row seat belts in select Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Traverse, GMC Acadia, and Saturn Outlook CUVs have "failed to perform properly in a crash."
According to GM, a second-row seat-side trim piece is to blame, as it can impede the upward rotation of the buckle after the seat is folded flat. As a result, if the buckle makes contact with the seat frame, cosmetic damage can occur, potentially requiring additional force to operate the buckle properly. So far, no great shakes, but in the process of applying that additional force, the occupant may push the buckle cover down to the strap, potentially revealing and depressing the red release button. As a result of this, the belt may not latch, or in certain cases, it may actually appear to be latched when, in fact, it isn't.
