Up for bid is a beautiful black 1978 Chevy Silverado K30 4x4 Flatbed. It's powered by a healthy 454 bored .10 over with a turbo 400 automatic trans. The transmission and engine were rebuilt at the same time several years ago. It has a dana 60 in the front and a dana 70 in the rear. It has the np208 part time transfer case. Last winter I put a full tune up on the motor (all A/C delco parts). This truck runs and drives out great. It has dual tanks that work as they should,both plumbed to the drives side. The fuel gauge quit working last week tho, I think its a grounding issue. It comes with the mounts and wiring for a western unimount plow. The plow was wired with the correct western harness for the truck (plow and controller not included). The tires where all replaced within the last year. The previous owner before me owned this beast for 23 years. The body was reworked about 15 years ago. The cab corners and rockers are starting to show and the driver floor board could use a little work. This truck is extremely dependable, it started up with no issues last winter when it was below zero. All brake lines an fuel lines are in great shape. The truck does have a 3'' homemade lift on it. Watch this creative way to pull a truck's engine
Fri, 08 Mar 2013Living in an apartment complex has its benefits, but for shade-tree mechanics who like/need to work on their own cars, it definitely has a number of disadvantages. Relatively simple tasks such as brake jobs and oil changes are difficult when you don't have dedicated driveway space, to say nothing of more in-depth repairs... like pulling an engine, for example.

Amelia Island 2013: Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray from concepts to split windows
Wed, 13 Mar 2013While this year marks 60 years of the Chevrolet Corvette, the 2013 Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance focused on one of the coupe's most sought after models, the 1963 Sting Ray. General Motors design boss Ed Welburn was on hand to show off the all-new C7 Corvette, but even the hard-edged styling of the 2014 Stingray couldn't take away from the beautiful 1963 models sitting out on the field.
In addition to the original Sting Ray and the 1959 Sting Ray Concept, some of the other classic 'Vettes included "Big Tank" racecars, an interesting cutaway coupe, a right-hand-drive Z06 and the attention-grabbing 1963 Corvette Rondine by Pininfarina. Another impressive Corvette was the 1964 Corvette XP-819 rear-engine prototype. Owner Mike Yager had the car finished as a driving chassis for this year's show, but promises the car will be back to its original glory in time for next year's event.
Chevy Chaparral 2X Vision Gran Turismo concept blends the past and the future
Wed, 19 Nov 2014The Chevrolet Chaparral 2X Vision Gran Turismo is the rare concept car that salutes a seminal moment in history, yet also borders on science fiction.
Revealed Wednesday at the Los Angeles Auto Show, the concept uses the name of one of Chevy's historic racing partnerships, with Chaparral Racing, which dates to the 1960s. Chaparrals raced successfully at a range of levels, including IndyCar, Trans-Am and SCCA competition.
But the history ends there, as the concept's main purpose is as a racecar in a downloadable update for the PlayStation 3 game Gran Turismo 6.
