Hi, I have up for bid a 1968 Chevy Camaro. Great restoration project. I know every car has a story. My dad purchased this in 1971. My dad got cancer and died in 1998. He left us the car and we drove it from Chattanooga,Tn back to Mobile,AL. We did not have a garage to store it in. We drove it occasionally to the gas station to just get it out. We had intended to do work to it but life just got in the way. My dad changed the motor out to a small block 350. The motor does not run. The interior is original. Headliner started to fall recently. This car was barely ever driven. The odometer reads 35,121. I believe this the original miles as it was in the garage at our house a lot when I was growing up. When my parents divorced, my dad took it and kept it under a carport or in the garage at his house. He only drove it to just air it out. We will not sell the VIN nor the COWL tags. If you want them you must buy the car. We have the title which is clear and the original owner's manual. The hood and trunk lid have been restored. They are ready to sand and paint. Tires are very old but should air up. It has a 2 speed power glide transmission but as I stated the motor does not run. All glass windows, seats and doors are original. The dash has major cracks and you can see in the pics it has rust. The car is restorable, we just don't have the time nor the funds. The seals around the windows are cracking badly. Car is located in Semmes, Alabama. We are just about 2 miles out of Mobile, AL. You must come pick it up or make arrangements for a truck to come pick it up. Car is sold as is with no warranty. A deposit of $500 via paypal must be made within 48 hours of auction end. The remainder of the balance must be paid by the time the car is picked up. We want the car picked up within 7 days of the auction ending. The remainder balance must either be paid by paypal or if you are coming in person a cashier's check. I have described this camaro to the best of my knowledge.

Chevy SS prototype spotted wearing Pontiac G8 clothes

Tue, 28 Aug 2012

Do not adjust your computer screen, you are not seeing the rebirth of the Pontiac brand. General Motors has chosen to use a G8 to disguise a test mule for the latest prototype of the forthcoming Chevrolet SS. The G8 was closely related to the Holden Commodore and Vauxhall VXR, the platform upon which the new Chevrolet performance model will be based. It should come as little surprise, then, that GM has opted to use the cladding from the former G8.
Thought the front clip of this mule is pure Pontiac, note the vents immediately behind the front wheel. That is a distinctive design hallmark of the Vauxhall VXR. Also note that this vehicle is right-hand drive, as the Holden and its Chevy counterpart will be very closely related. That likely includes potential drivetrains. The spy photos of this mule also reveal very wide rear tires, and rear wheels that do not match the fronts.

Chevrolet donates 300 vehicles damaged by Sandy to help train first responders

Thu, 28 Feb 2013

Super Storm Sandy took out a lot of automobiles in its path of destruction through the Northeast last October. The number surpassed 250,000 at last count, and a few of those were owned by Chevrolet - cars either sitting on dealership lots or waiting at port to be shipped off. Rendered unsellable by the water damage inflicted by Sandy, these vehicles were facing the crusher. But Chevy didn't send them there.
Instead, Chevy had a better idea: It will be donating 300 of these vehicles damaged by Sandy to help train first responders at Guardian Centers in Perry, GA. Chevy is the official automotive partner of Guardian Centers, which is an 830-acre facility that trains first responders in disaster preparedness. Junked cars are practically a consumable commodity there, where a full-size cityscape simulator gives trainees an entire urban center in which to train for all sorts of rescue operations and disaster scenarios.
Chevy says its particular vehicles will be used "in conjunction with role players for wide area searches, traffic congestion in emergency situations, counter terrorism, public order and mass casualty exercises." While grim scenarios all, we're certainly glad there are people out there preparing for the unexpected. While a zombie apocalypse isn't officially on the list of potential disasters to prepare for, when the virus hits, we'll be hot-footing it to Perry, GA to hang with these guys and gals.
