1969 Camaro Convertible 540 C.i. Shafiroff Motor With Vortech Supercharger. on 2040-cars

Year:1969 Mileage:178000

Selling 1969 Camaro Convertible project car. This car was restored inside and out back in the early 2000's and is in very good to excellent condition. There are some blemishes to note, a scratch on the hood and some dimpling on the rear deck lid, looks like something was set on it, the under portion of the hood was cut for Vortech blower clearance, otherwise the car is in great shape.

The engine is a Shafiroff 540 C.I. built for the blower, with an 8.5:1 compression ratio. The engine has been on a dyno and ran several times for testing, the results are 687 horse with 660 lbs/ft torque, this run was done normally aspirated with a carburetor. Once the engine was installed in the car a Hogans EFI intake manifold was made to fit under the hood with the addition to installing the Vortech centrifugal super charger. The engine has not run since its initial testing back in 2006. Custom headers have been made (need to be coated) and the rest you can see via the photos. It will need a computer for the EFI, a master cylinder (the stock one hit the rocker cover) and a radiator to be completed.

The drive line has a brand new 4L80E custom built transmission, never run, backed up to it with a Gear Vendors Overdrive unit. The drive shaft has been modified to fit. The rear end is currently a 373 10 bolt posi with 5000 miles on it and a disc brake set up.

The front suspension is a Global West system with QA1 coil over adjustable shocks with adjustable ride height. 1"1/8 front sway bar. The car rides really sweet with this system, big improvement over stock. The car has frame rail connectors installed along with traction bars and rear sway bar.

The interior is in very good condition as the pics will show, the power top/ vinyl rear window is in excellent shape too. All the GM tinted glass on the car had been replaced during the restoration.

This car has sat in my heated garage under a car cover, I have lost interest in the project and want it to go to someone who can appreciate the vehicle and more importantly have some fun with it.

Best of luck bidding and please feel free to ask questions.

Thanks very much.

Camaro spy shots show subtly different grille, front fascia

Sun, 03 Feb 2013

It looks like there some changes in store for the Chevrolet Camaro - the only thing is that we just don't know what Chevy has up its sleeve. Looking at these spy shots, we'd initially be inclined to think that there is just a minor facelift or a new special edition, but upon closer inspection, there are a few oddities about this car that definitely have us intrigued.
The most obvious difference on this prototype is the slightly restyled front fascia with a smaller lower air inlet and the two-bar grille. Then we get to some of the car's mysterious details. For starters, this fascia has the SS vent above the grille, but it looks to be blocked off. Granted this could just be a one-off piece used for testing. What really piqued our interest was at the rear of the car where it has quad exhaust outlets that are used on the ZL1. Could this be the LS7-powered Camaro that we reported on back in December?
At this point, your guess is as good as ours as to what we're looking at here, so let us know in the comments what you think this could be.

2014 Chevrolet C7 Corvette wastes no time zooming into Jay Leno's Garage

Thu, 24 Jan 2013

Where else would you expect the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray to show up first? Although this time it isn't exactly in Jay Leno's Garage, Leno instead playing an away game at Brown's Classic Auto in Scottsdale, Arizona. Nor does Leno drive the car, instead taking an 11-minute walkaround of the new American sports car with General Motors design head Ed Welburn, the same man who recently brought by a string of classic Corvettes to the talk show host's California compound.
It is, admittedly, a love-fest for the American sports car now featuring 450 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque, but one that also features admissions about previous Corvette seats like "they were kinda rough," and the explanation that labeling the coupe "Stingray" means not having to call it "the base Corvette." On top of that, Welburn also explains the proper application of the term "dashboard." You can watch it all in the video below.

GM says hybrid Corvette no laughing matter [w/poll]

Fri, 30 Aug 2013

When Mark Reuss was in LA recently, he sat down to have a few words with the scribes at the Los Angeles Times. When the issue of a hybrid Corvette came up, Reuss answered with "Don't laugh." The General Motors president is a complete fan of the possibility, calling it "attractive" and "really fun," believing it would improve GM expertise and that "people would love it."
Naturally, the president being supportive of an idea doesn't give indication that a hybrid Corvette is on the way. However, with supercars like the Porsche 918 Spyder and Ferrari LaFerrari giving hybrid tech a solid, if remote, place in the performance car world, the inexorable trickle-down of technology means we shouldn't be surprised if and when it does happen.
And now that we have that non-negative half-answer to a speculative question, it would be irresponsible for us not to commence rumormilling for the C8 Corvette. Taking Reuss at his word, the C8 will obviously be a hybrid with all-wheel-drive - the left side wheels driven with electric motors, the right side with the mid-mounted, four-cylinder diesel engine. With coefficient of drag of just .16, figure on a 0-to-60 mile-per-hour time of under 2 seconds and an all-electric range of something like 30 miles at top speed. Don't forget, folks, you read it here first.
