I am testing the waters on a project I am currently working on to see if I want to sell or finish it.  It is on the back burner while I finish some other projects as I do this for a living and have gotten really busy at work.  The project is a 1970 Camaro Rally Sport.  This car has had a complete frame off restoration started and i would say it is halfway done.  I have purchased the majority of the parts but not everything.  I started with a pretty nice Texas body stripped it to nothing and started from scratch.  No expense or time was spared to make it slick as glass and arrow straight. It is painted Boyd Red base coat clear with a ton of time wet sanding and buffing.  I found an NOS complete front RS clip that is all perfect GM original parts so they fit. Both quarters were replaced one with gm the other aftermarket.  Both doors are perfect gm originals.  The bodywork and paint i would give a solid 9.5 out of 10.  it looks awesome and fits together better than from Chevrolet.  I have not wet sanded the hood, trunk lid, or nose yet because i still did not know how I wanted to do the stripes.  Thinking about painting it like a new 1LE but not sure yet.  It has the low rear spoiler. the door gaps trunk gaps and hood gaps are truly amazing.  While I had it apart I installed Detroit Speed and Engineering Mini-Tubs in the rear and also there sub-frame connectors so it will be tight and you can run 12 inch tires in the rear.  The front sub-frame is all redone original with all new components and installed a set of drop springs.  It has a 12 Bolt Camaro rear and the springs where moved in for tire clearance.   I also have a new eaton posi with 3.73 gears and all the stuff to put it in new in a box. I have a set of perfect 2004 corvette Z06 seats that I was gonna run that will go with it or I have the original seats either way.  I have a nice original dashboard for it also. The engine is a 2004 LS6 Z06 Corvette engine that I just had rebuilt with no expense spared with 0 miles on it. It has a Texas speed torquer 2 cam with 595-598 lift.  I also installed a set of ported and flowed 243 heads and a 92 mm fast intake but I have not purchased a throttle body yet.  It has new original corvette accessories on the engine.  I do have a set of factory camaro manifolds but have not bought any headers or exhaust yet.  It should be good for 475 HP or so.  It has a new spec clutch and a Chevrolet T56 6 speed tranny behind it.  I have the new engine harness and computer for the engine.  I also have new brake lines in a box.  I have the brand new front and back glass and original side glass but I dont have the rear window chrome but I have the front chrome.  I have not bought a tank for it yet but I do have a clean original tank.  I do not have a back bumper but was gonna buy a new one.  I have a nice set of tail lights.  The bottom and inside the car was finished with lizard skin sound deadening spray and then the bottom was painted chassis black.  The firewall was shaved and slicked off.  I was gonna put vintage air in it but have not purchased it yet nor have I bought any gauges but have the originals.  I have some rubber seals but not all.  I have the slave cyl. bracket but no slave.  The pedals are in and I have a factory tilt column for it.  I have not bought a master cylinder or booster yet.  The wheels that are on it are original z28 wheels with brand new tires on them just using them as rollers right now.  Was planning on running a custom wheel.  The RS front stuff that I have is nos original gm and in perfect shape.  The only thing I do not have is the grille surround because my chromer ruined or lost it.  My stupidity for giving it to him.  I am sure I am forgetting some things but you get the general idea of what I have.  I am not having a fire sell and I don't have to sell it I just though rather than letting it sit here until I get time I would put it out there for your consideration.  I will sell it without engine and trans if you would like.  I will use it in something sometime.  I know what all this neat stuff and labor cost to do this so don't call and offer me some stupid amount cause I will just hang up.  I do this everyday and build 100k plus cars for people and am very good at what I do. That being said if you have any questions or want to see more pics call or email and I will try to get you what you need.  My # is 281-615-0551.  The car is located at my house so it will be available to look at also if you live in town.  I would consider finishing this car the way someone wants it so call me and we can work out numbers and details.

2014 Chevy Silverado priced from *$24,585, V8 gets better economy than Ford EcoBoost V6

Mon, 01 Apr 2013

Chevrolet has thrown down the next hand in the pickup truck poker wars and revealed at least a couple of potential aces - depending on which numbers matter most to you. The 2014 2014 Silverado 1500 with its 5.3-liter EcoTec3 V8 gets 335 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque, is mated to a six-speed automatic, can tow 11,500 pounds with the optional Max Trailer Package and costs the same as the outgoing Silverado, $24,585 (*including $995 destination fee). Chevy says the Silverado also stands atop the fuel economy charts when comparing any competitor with a V8 engine - and some competitors with V6 engines. The two-wheel drive model returns 16 miles per gallon city, 23 mpg highway, 19 mpg combined in two-wheel drive guise and 16 mpg city, 22 mpg highway and 18 mpg combined as a four-wheel drive.
For context around those numbers, the most fuel efficient V8-powered 2013 Ford F-150 pickups lose about two mpg in every metric compared to the Silverado, the 3.5-liter V6 EcoBoost returning 16 city, 18 highway and 22 combined in two-wheel drive. However, that EcoBoost does have 365 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque. You can get a Ram 1500 with a 3.6-liter V6 that gets 25 mpg highway, but it has 305 hp and 269 lb-ft of torque. The 2013 Ram with the 5.7-liter Hemi V8 and its 395 hp and 407 lb-ft drops one mpg in every category to the Silverado. Its tow rating is 200 pounds beyond its nearest competitor, the F-150 with the Max Trailer Tow Package.
Elsewhere, the new Silverado gets a quieter cab with a redesigned interior, a new bed with improved load-management possibilities, disc brakes all around, tweaked steering and suspension, along with free standard scheduled maintenance for two years or 24,000 miles.

Why Cadillac thinks it needs to succeed in Europe to sell cars elsewhere

Tue, 26 Feb 2013

Ward's Auto has taken an interesting look at the renewed focus General Motors is showing towards Cadillac in Europe. Susan Docherty, president and managing director of Chevrolet and Cadillac in Europe (pictured), says in order for the luxury brand to thrive in China, it first needs to succeed in the old country. The reason? Chinese buyers look to Europe for cues as to what's deemed worthy of the term "luxury." There are hurdles to the plan, however. In addition to the fact that the EU is flooded with high-end nameplates, GM doesn't necessarily have the distribution network in place to put buyers behind the wheel.
Combine that with persistent economic woes and Cadillac's checkered past marred by a lack of diesel engine options and a bankrupt distributor, and the road ahead for the brand looks like less of an uphill climb and more like a straight-up cliff face. But Docherty is optimistic and says she has a plan for the brand. We recommend heading over to Ward's for a closer look at the full read.

2014 Chevrolet Corvette C7 Convertible offers a few more views before reveal

Mon, 04 Mar 2013

Over the weekend, Chevrolet released its first images of the new 2014 Corvette Stingray Convertible. Now, ahead of the droptop's official introduction tomorrow at the Geneva Motor Show, the automaker has given us a few more shots of the softop C7 showing off the car's rump albeit from a high, strategically positioned angle.
From this angle, it's hard to get a sense for how long and flat the decklid really is, but we can easily see that, like the rest of the C7's design, the new convertible's decklid and tonneau cover are far more detailed than the current car. We also get a better look at the rear haunches sans brake vents, which have apparently been moved to underneath the car in order to accommodate the top's hard cover.
As for the overall styling of the C7 convertible, with the top erected, we get some idea of what a coupe design (as opposed to the Stingray's fastback shape) would look like on this car. The C5 Corvette most recently had a coupe model that did away with the large glass hatchback, and we recently reported on a low-cost "coupe" model potentially being added to the C7's repertoire.
