1988 Iroc Z28 Camaro Convertible on 2040-cars

Robinson, Illinois, United States

1988 Camaro Iroc Convertible in very good condition. New carpet, top, tires, exhaust. Routine maintenance done since Ive owned the car the last 8ish years. Exterior is very clean with a few, meaning literally 3 to 4 stone chips from driving, paint blemishes. There is no rust, meaning a key will not poke through or even dent the body. The frame is fine but if you expect to see an Emron painted frame, its not there. There are a couple hard to find bubbles near the IROC decals that have been there since Ive owned the car. The body is truely 99% straight, NOT PERFECT. Engine compartment is clean but NOT detailed show. All componants work including PW, PL, PT, PS driver side, PM, AC, CC from the resume button but not from the set button, horn, radio- Pioneer currently in it but original was saved. Top was never stored down. If you have had a convertible and kept the top down for any length of time, it messes up the back window. Wheels are decent. Look good in pics but two DO HAVE some curb rash. AGAIN NOT PERFECT. Interior is the weakest but thats relative. The carpet is new but the seats are driver quality NOT SHOW. There is discolored material on the passenger side and a small hole in the driver side fabric.Door panels are near perfect. Console is not cracked nor is the dash. Overall this is a very nice driver quality car. NOT SHOW. It would do well at a local Dog and Suds type show but not true judged for points show. DO NOT expect this car to be a show stopper. I would put this car at a high #3+ to 2- using the collector car guide. If you happen to be an actual car guy, you know that NADAs guide is full of sh$t and not even close to realistic values. That is why I dont base any car sales or purchases off that junk. I am more than happy to let you come inspect, drive, have a friend check out the car, whatever, just dont wait until the day before and ask me to drop everything to make it happen. Check my feedback. Im an Oldsmobile collector and bought this for my wife because she thinks a Cutlass is too big. A Corvette was not going to happen for her so she got this instead. It has been rarely driven so its time to go. I can be available to ship but THATS ON YOU to set up and make happen. I can email any pics you want. Send me your direct email and Ill get on it. Title is in hand. Regards

Forgot to add. Any extra parts in the garage go with the car. I wont have any need for them. Dont have a head count but remember a taillite assembly, an extra upper plastic conv cover, door panel and probably switches for back ups.

GM warning 800,000 owners that their cars may need oil changes more frequently than they say

Fri, 05 Apr 2013

The days of changing your engine oil every 3,000 miles are long gone thanks to most cars having automatic oil monitoring systems, but about 800,000 General Motors vehicles apparently have incorrect monitoring software that is leading to premature engine component wear. According to Autoweek, certain 2010-2012 Buick LaCrosse, Regal, Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain models equipped with 2.4-liter four-cylinder engines could be going too long in between oil changes resulting in a higher-than-normal number of warranty claims for the engine's balance chain. The balance chain links the balance shaft to the crankshaft, and a worn one can produce higher noise levels.
As a fix, GM dealers will be reprogramming the software for the monitors in an effort to reduce the interval between oil changes, which varies based on driving habits and conditions. Through February 2015, the software update will be done at no cost to vehicle owners, but since this is not a recall, after that point, it will be up to the discretion of dealers as to whether or not they will charge for the service. What isn't immediately clear is whether GM plans on giving assistance to out-of-warranty customers who are experiencing engine issues from the worn chain.

Chevy Corvette Stingray picks up another award, this time from Automobile

Mon, 18 Nov 2013

The new Chevrolet Corvette Stingray has picked up another buff book accolade after capturing Road and Track's Performance Car of the Year award. The seventh-generation of America's sports car (sorry Viper, Mustang, et al.) has been named Automobile Magazine's Automobile of the Year.
Automobile's award to the Corvette over competitors is the mirror image of its rival Motor Trend, which named the Cadillac CTS its car of the year over the C7. The CTS was, according to the Automobile team, the closest contender to the mighty Stingray. Great news all around for General Motors it seems.
As for what pushed the Corvette past its distant, four-door cousin, Automobile commended its excellent, 6.2-liter V8 calling the car's performance "simply awesome" while also remarking that it is easier to drive fast than ever before thanks to steering and chassis tweaks. Following a theme set by other publications, there were also plaudits for the interior, of all things, with the buff book complimenting the car's ergonomics and material quality, while also praising the standard seats.

2014 Chevrolet Malibu gets more torque, more room and inspiration from the Impala

Fri, 31 May 2013

The 2014 Chevrolet Malibu, having stared at the Impala across the showroom floor for a year, gets nips and tucks all over inspired by its larger brother. The 2.5-liter four-cylinder in the base car will get a stop-start system and 23 city miles per gallon, 35 highway, each number representing a one-mpg improvement over the 2013 car. Output is 196 horsepower and 186 pound-feet of torque.
Opt for the 2.0-liter turbo and, while power holds steady at 259 hp, torque goes up by 14 percent to a striking 295 lb-ft (a figure Chevy calls best in the class). The final details include newly programmed transmission shift points and faster shifts, for better engaging and enjoying the added power.
Looks-wise, the grille's been reshaped to be more in line with the new Chevrolet look, a narrower upper grille hovering over a larger lower grille.
