1996 Camaro Z28 Ss # 1588 Of 2263 Completely Original W 35,642 Original Miles on 2040-cars
Sterling, Illinois, United States
1996 Camaro Z28 SS
The fourth-generation Chevrolet Camaro debuted
for the 1993 model year on an updated F-body platform. It would retain
the same characteristic since the first-generation's introduction back
in 1967 such as 2 doors, 2+2 seating and being available as a coupe or
convertible. 1996 was the first year since 1972 that the SS performance
package was offered. The SS cars were the highest factory performance
Camaros offered at the time and included a functioning hood scoop,
forced air induction, high flow exhaust manifolds, Torsen limited slip
differential and new five spoke 17 x 9 wheels. This particular example
is # 1588 of 2263 and is a one owner car with 35,642 original miles. Not
only is it optioned with T-tops, a 6 speed short throw Hurst shifter
and performance exhaust but has it every other available factory option
but leather and the CD changer. It has been pampered since day one and
has not been modified in way at all. If you have been looking for a real
Z28 SS you will be hard pressed to find a cleaner, original example
with this kind of mileage for what we are asking. If you agree you
better call us before someone else does because this will be impossible
to duplicate! Asking $14,900 Offers considered! **************************************************************************************************************************************************** Additional pictures and a video of the engine running are available on our website. More Corvette Stingray Factoids: Vanishing panel gaps and 26-mpg LT1
Thu, 28 Feb 2013During January's Detroit Auto Show, we managed a longer than expected wandering tag-team interview with C7 Corvette chief engineering exec Tadge Juechter (pictured above), and LT1 engine boss Jordan Lee (pictured below). They are, quite honestly, two of the very nicest bigshot lads to ever walk the engineering corridors of an American manufacturer. Both are enthralled by what they're doing for a day job. So are we.
We've followed the pre-sale anticipation for the Chevrolet C7 Corvette Stingray like an Oreck vacuum yanking every speck of dirt from a well-trampled carpet. Everything is reportable and contains a grain of further knowledge about this dramatically important and cheered-for car, as it continues to be pressured into representing all that is superior about the American dream. The Corvette wears one heavy cloak.
So, most of what was talked about has been expertly reported already right here on Autoblog. But, looking through our notes again, both Jeuchter and Lee added facts to the buzzing mix.
Why does the Corvette Stingray have so many vents? Here's why
Sun, 27 Jan 2013Just looking at the new 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, it's not hard to see that the car's design was created with aerodynamics at the forefront, but Chevrolet designers point out exactly what went into designing the iconic coupe in a pair of recently released videos. The videos show the Corvette going through early design phases, including clay models and wind tunnel tests, as well as talking to the car's chief engineer, Tadge Juechter.
Both videos help explain various aspects of the C7 Corvette, but it's the aero tuning of the car that is most interesting. This includes extra attention paid to the lower air dam and vented hood to help reduce drag and lift, while the rear quarter inlets are for differential and transmission cooling. Juechter said that some of these aero-tuned elements were inspired from GM's involvement in racing.
If you have about five minutes and you can't get enough information about the new 'Vette, then check out the videos posted below.
Chevy Camaro is a good sport, wishes Ford Mustang Happy 50th
Tue, 15 Apr 2014It was 1966 when Chevrolet launched its challenger to the wildly successful Ford Mustang, the Camaro. While the competition between the two brands was already healthy, the arrival of the Camaro set off one of the most intense, model-to-model rivalries in the industry.
That competitive spirit hasn't stopped Chevy and the Camaro from wishing Ford's iconic muscle car a Happy 50th Birthday as the Ford's April 17 anniversary rolls around. These two cars have been linked over the years, and while the rivalry took a break for a few years in the 2000s, today's competition between the Camaro and Mustang is as fierce as it's ever been.
You might recall that this friendliness when it comes to major milestones isn't too rare. Ford put on quite a display for General Motors' hundredth anniversary back in 2008. As the Camaro's fiftieth birthday approaches in 2016, we wouldn't be surprised to see the Mustang sending its best wishes to its Bowtie rival.
