1969 Chevelle Malibu convertible. This is not my car. I am selling this for my mechanic, he knows cars,not ebay. This Chevelle left the factory Olympic Gold with parchment interior and spent most of it's life in Florida. It does have Factory Air. The car was painted red in the mid nineties and has held up well. The finish is smooth and shines well but there are a few minor imperfections due to the paint being 25 years old. I noticed a slight indentation on the top of the rear bumper and a spot just above it. The odometer shows 59,000 miles and as clean as the car is I would not be surprised that the mileage is correct and original. The car runs, drives, stops and steers well. It's a 307 not a big block so don't expect it to be a race car. The car does have dual exhaust and sounds good. The car does not smoke and shifts well. Interior has been redone as the original front seat had some separation and discolor and the owner didn't like the faded area around the front seat and decided to replace the back seat cover and door panels. If you ever tried to match white / parchment with any age on it you know why he replaced all of it. The car is not perfect but very clean, presentable and unmolested. The power top is good and works properly. Like stated earlier it has factory air, power steering and brakes. No other power options. As always I encourage all bidders to come and check the car out for themselves or find a set of eyes that can look at it for you. There is not a buy it now price but the owner wants to put a fair reserve on it. He wants to finish his numbers matching big block four speed car. You can buy junk and order every part you need from a magazine or website or buy this car and enjoy it while you make it your own. $500 deposit via paypal will hold the car for the high bidder and arrangements can be made to finalize the remainder to the car owner. General Motors shaking up its marketing... again
Wed, 13 Mar 2013One of the things that dogs the full comeback of General Motors is the instability of its marketing. That part of the automaker got yet another big shakeup today when GM confirmed what I have been tweeting for a few days - strong rumors that the Chevrolet and Cadillac ad accounts are walking to new ad agencies.
Cadillac, GM's luxury brand, is going into review from Fallon Worldwide, Minneapolis and the indications are that Campbell-Ewald, Chevy's old ad shop, will end up with most or all of it. C-E just announced that it was moving from its long-time home in Warren, MI to a new downtown Detroit office next to Ford Field, just blocks from GM.
The other shoe to drop shortly will be the shift of GM's most important brand, Chevy, from Goodby, Silverstein & Partners of San Francisco to McCann-Erickson of Troy, MI. McCann used to be the agency for Buick and GMC, as well as GM's corporate advertising, and has retained some pieces of business over the last few years. Sources have even told us that it was McCann that did a lot of the creative work on Chevy's new ad platform, Find New Roads. (Not to be confused with a former McCann tagline for Saab, "Find Your Own Road.")
Chevy exec confirms SS production model reveal at Daytona on Feb 16
Wed, 06 Feb 2013The 2014 Chevrolet SS will make its racing debut for the 2013 Daytona 500, but the production version of the car will get its official unveiling on February 16 in Daytona, a week before The Great American Race. According to a report by Automotive News, the reveal has been confirmed by Jim Campbell, Chevy's US vice president of performance and motorsports. With the departure of the Dodge Charger, the new Chevrolet racecar will be the only competitor to feature a V8, rear-wheel-drive layout in both street and NASCAR form.
NASCAR fans will be able to see the new fullsize performance-oriented sedan on display in the festivities leading up to the Daytona 500, but the car won't go on sale until later in the year. The Australian-built Chevy SS will be a low-volume performance model, and it will be priced above the 2014 Impala, which starts at $27,535.
C7 Corvette turbo with 1,000 horsepower promised from Hennessey
Mon, 25 Feb 2013If you can't wait for the next-generation Chevrolet Corvette ZR1, Hennessey says they will have you covered. The Texas-based company has announced it will offer a spate of upgrades for the 2014 Corvette ranging from a range of bolt-on options all the way up to a 1,000-horsepower, twin-turbo system. Buyers can start with a cold air intake, cat-back exhaust or stainless steel long-tube headers, but Hennessey says it will also offer up three stages of forced induction mayhem should those bits and baubles not provide enough thrust.
Those choices start with a supercharger system good for up to 700 hp, though Hennessey will gladly ditch the blower in favor of two turbos. Doing so will spin the crank to the tune of 800 horsepower all the way up to a certifiably ludicrous 1,000 ponies. There's no word on how much these tricks will cost you - or when they will be available, as we're guessing they haven't gotten their hands on the car yet - but you can head over to the Hennessey site to drop them a line if you're curious.
